the OP is calling all 0-byte solutions invalid

well, I submitted two 0-byte solutions

there could be a language that prints a random integer when empty program

the second one uses a Turing-complete language
and a pre-existing interpreter which prints the current time at the start of the output

I see no comments on the ttyrec one.

9:01 PM
the OP doesn't like that one either
oh, the OP deleted their comment
they apparently retracted their downvote too

@wizzwizz4 Lynn, gaot and penguin aren't here, so... :p

that's a valid answer
the ps one isn't

so I guess it was just a misunderstanding

@betseg really should sleep. bai

9:02 PM
see ya!

hey @TimmyD, is ps really non-deterministic?

@betseg Do bots count as "gents"?

@wubs At the least it prints out the PIDs as a column, one of which is going to be the PID for the PowerShell console itself. Thus, non-deterministic according to the challenge.

@wizzwizz4 hmmmm

@wubs the OP explicitly said so
> Your code's process id (if it's not fixed by the interpreter) can be assumed to be non-deterministic.

9:06 PM
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ Ah, there it is. I figured it would be constant if you ran it over and over again from the same window

yeah
but if you actually run it as a program, it's not

I am watching the trailer of Antichamber and it already borked my brain

Too bad my badges don't also add to 100.
@TuxCopter I have that game. I quit/got stuck sometime last year.
I haven't spoiled the solution though, in case I go back and finish it.
I'm ~3/4 done.
10/10 would recommend.

9:33 PM
You should. It's fantastic

I once saw through a glitched corner in the wall how the map fit together in it's weirdness.
I wish I'd gotten a screenshot.
Or maybe I did. idk. I'll have to look.

Yeah, I've found a lot of fun ways to break the world in that game

Nice, so now I need to chose between 6 games for christmas (SpaceChem, Infinifactory, TIS-100, HRM and Antichamber)

The worst part of that game is spending forever with my little cubes scaling walls just to see if it helps.

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ Once you beat the game and we both have some free time, remind me to show you some fun antichamber glitches/hacks

9:36 PM
@TuxCopter I've only played AC of those. I'll have to look into the others. Maybe look at which ones have replay value.

SpaceChem and TIS-100 are puzzle game with no sandbox IIRC, Infinifactory have a sandbox, idk for HRM

Honestly, AC was so mind-blowing at first. It's not just puzzles, it's beauty.

@DrMcMoylex cool!
@mbomb007 yeah

Non-Euclidean beauty.

the cube gun looks like concept art, but still manages to look completed

9:38 PM
I like my games how I like my women. Non-Euclidean.
3

I am looking up the Wikipedia article for non-euclidean geometry and it seems to be some creepy weird things

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ It's like the Minecraft of the future.
Except that the future is fighting back. Inside your brain. And it's all your fault.

No. The Minecraft of the future have 1e70 useless items, a delay of 10 hours between hits, and need to have a XBox live subscription to play multiplayer
This is the most likely thing to happen with Krosoft

...A non-Euclidean Minecraft.... that's what we need.

9:42 PM
There are Minecraft antichamber maps

Mining in a non-euclidean space is probably very mind-blowing

Minecraft meets Inception meets Doctor Strange meets Doctor Who.

@DrMcMoylex 10/10
@mbomb007 I've watched/played 3/4, I should probably get around to watching doctor strange soon

@DrMcMoylex The maps bork ultra often

9:43 PM
Oh, I haven't played them, only watched

Well, at least on my computer

I already played it
I tought it was just a hexagonal grid... ?

I'd like to see a Minecraft implementation of The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap, including the shrinking/growing.

@TuxCopter that "useless items" thing is so true. Minecraft was once a great game, but is a "dead bush" or a "path block" really needed? not to mention, the whole playerbase got about 10 years younger

9:44 PM
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ There's a lot of simple maneuvering from that point on.

this is why you don't update a finished game

@Flp.Tkc Agreed. I played in Alpha just before it was cool. Then it became cool. Now it's kinda lame.

Mojang should really focus on reducing lags instead of adding items and borking good ol' pvp

@Flp.Tkc No, they shouldn't have finished it. The update with "The End" was one of the worst updates, imho.

Since Notch quitted Mojang Minecraft started dying

9:46 PM
@MartinEnder Hm, not sure. I'll check it out later.

^^ MC is now for 10-year-olds, instead of young adults and grown men.

I'm ordering Panda Express online right now..

@El'endiaStarman hm, okay

@mbomb007 I still enjoy it

Minecraft got boring for me. The only real "fun" part is the first 30 minutes to hour on a new world, where there's danger and a sense of newness, and worry about where your next meal comes from. And then you're stocked with full iron gear, have a wheat farm and cattle farm running, and are basically godlike.

9:47 PM
Minecraft with mods is very fun.

My favorite part of MC was building with redstone

I play almost exclusively in modded 1.7 and 1.8

Although I do agree that the beginning is the most fun part

my favourite part of mc was back in ~2010 when there were soup pvp servers

9:47 PM
The only two good versions

@noɥʇʎPʎzɐɹC Meh. Most of the mods simply add more things to mine, that create more things that help you mine, etc. Contributing to the worst of it.

@Flp.Tkc Soup pvp servers still exist

yeah, but they're terrible
the last good one was mcpvp, and I think they're offline these days

@mbomb007 Buildcraft adds new logistics, creativity, automation - like survival-basec redstone.

MC is like technology. The more technology we get, the dumber people get. There's no need for creativity when they add every block they can think of to the game.

9:48 PM
@TuxCopter it is quite hyperbolic

@mbomb007 Thermal expansion, Buildcraft, etc... add electricity to Minecraft, Thaumcraft, Witchery, etc... add magic

Quick poll: Do you let the compiler do the optimising if it involves juggling increments and decrements?

These ods are really cool

Idea: Fork MC

@noɥʇʎPʎzɐɹC It's not open source.

9:49 PM
@mbomb007 Exactly that. This mod adds flubb! But what do you build with flubb? This thing! What does it do? Helps you mine flubb faster!
6

@TuxCopter That's just it. It all adds crap to the game, and suddenly nobody has to use their creativity anymore.

@wizzwizz4 I know, it's proprietary.

@mbomb007 Buildcraft has lots of creativity in it - how do I make my pipes go faster? What's the most efficient arrangement of engines?

brb, making FlubbCraft ...

9:50 PM
Sadly I can't build it because cargo uberbork when compiling C

the one great thing about mc was that it encouraged me to get good at java, which made my OOP a hundred times better

@noɥʇʎPʎzɐɹC Most of the time Buildcraft things are just great stacks of weird machine

@noɥʇʎPʎzɐɹC But that's not fun. It's all only for the purpose of getting more stuff. "Fun" in MC is creating with redstone, creating buildings, exploring untouched areas, and playing with friends. That's about it.

@TimmyD Noooooo!!!!11 Don't make FlubbCraft. It will take the fun out of Flubber.

@Flp.Tkc I learned Java because of Minecraft

9:51 PM
Brb, making SecondCraft a la SecondLife.

The only modded things I've found that are fun are: laser guns, jet packs, nukes, and RedPower.

Sadly RedPower is dead IIRC

What happened to Eloraam?

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ I know this because I just played through it. :P On a grocery run now, but I'll beat it when I get home.

@mbomb007 idk, but she's no longer updating the mod and the last blog article was in 2015

Did you know that there's a mod flag leaderboard? Most flags handled "wins".
(It's not a formal competition, but...)
There's a new problem emerging: Fastest Mod in the West.

@wizzwizz4 tell me more secrets

^ pls

There's also a leaderboard showing who can convince the gullible about random mod factoids.
It stays pretty active.

Aren't you actually even winning that one?

9:58 PM
@Geobits No, it's true! I'll show you the Retrocomputing one, sans sensitive info.

@TuxCopter One of my favorite things was the redstone lamps, which predate the native ones. You could use them to create a "screen", for pong or something.

Good mods with Minecraft are Computercraft and OpenComputers too

@wizzwizz4 I didn't say it wasn't. I just added another fact.

With OpenComputers it's very hard to set up a computer (even basic), and it require energy, but it's still a good mod

@TuxCopter RedPower is actually when I taught myself to program in Forth. It had a computer that ran "MineOS", which was simplified/modified Forth.

9:59 PM
ik

@TuxCopter You can run BASIC inside Minecraft?!?

@wizzwizz4 Dwarf Fortress, here we come!

@wizzwizz4 With mods :P But here I mean even creating a very basic computer require a lot of resources
@TimmyD redstone wizard spotted

@wizzwizz4 Anyone have an implementation of Java in BASIC? Time for Minecraft-ception!

10:02 PM
IIRC a basic 2D Minecraft was created using Computercraft
Still not very fancy, but it works
Wait
The computer in RedPower is a 6502 :O

Here is the mod leaderboard for Retrocomputing:

@El'endiaStarman lol

I'd show you a screenshot of the one I was talking about, too, but I don't have access to it :/

@wizzwizz4 How do we know which direction you sorted it? :P
You could be at the bottom

@mbomb007 Actually, we're tied. The only reason I'm at the top is (I assume) that I was viewing it.

@mods, who leads the mod leaderboard on PPCG?
I like how my Tor exit node is in the netherlands but the server thinks I'm in canada.

I doubt they'll tell you. Stuff like that is private

@mbomb007 You know, I could have edited the order by hand...

found the dev room in antichamber!

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ Well done! I heard that you have to clip to get there.

10:11 PM
is that a typo for noclip?
you can get there either noclipping or "clipping"

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ No. You have to clip the surfaces in order to not fall through the ground in front of the door.
Bye!

@DrMcMoylex ... I'm honestly not sure where to go next :p
there's a couple un-done puzzles, but the tower is completed

@noɥʇʎPʎzɐɹC Moderation is a voluntary job, not a game. Even if it were, it would be a collaborative one, not a competitive one...

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ Yeah. Look at the map for where the stubs are.

@noɥʇʎPʎzɐɹC It's not a game there either...
@TuxCopter If you like that, follow the link to M.C.Escher...

10:23 PM
@trichoplax Halp my brain is even more borking
4

My brain's branch predictor is not very good.

The problem with impossible shapes is more than the brain's branch predictor is too good
So it uberbork when it's not what it expected

Impossible colors or forbidden colors are supposed colors that cannot be perceived in normal seeing of light that is a combination of various intensities of the various frequencies of visible light, but are reported to be seen in special circumstances. == Types == These impossible colors are of two types: Colors that would be seen if the output strengths of the human eye retina's three types of cone cell (red, green, blue) could be set to values which cannot be produced by exposing the eye in normal seeing conditions to any possible combination of strengths of the frequencies of visible light....
