@NewSandboxedPosts Just spell it like you spelled it last time. You do remember last time, right?

@TuxCopter :O this is french

@NewSandboxedPosts This happens occasionally. Why does this happen?

Shouldn't there be auxiliary verb actually

@Pavel when the bot posts something that was already linked here for one reason or another, sometimes a mod edits the bot pots as a joke
the bot posted my sandboxed question but i had already linked it here

@Pavel It's a glitch. It happens when they change something

12:32 AM

busted
It's mainly just to save the vertical space when the post has already been shown by a user, but a trend started of posting something other than just "removed as already seen"

Huh, so that's why you mods do it

If it annoys anyone I'll start removing them without any text

@trichoplax Doesn't bother me but I know another RO likes to delete caps messages: chat.stackexchange.com/transcript/message/36862518#36862518
Well, it only bothers me in that it could conceivably make it difficult to find challenges by searching NMP history
(cc @Mego)

12:49 AM
@HelkaHomba I generally avoid all caps in my own messages, but have been following the convention of all caps for "robot voice" in the bot messages. Maybe we should review this unofficial custom though...

This is a perfectly functional robot voice.
Or perhaps this? I can't remember if doing it in-line looks different

Good point
Unfortunately the formatting doesn't survive starring
(not that that should be part of the decision making process...)

A: Could authors overturn recent community review decisions?

Shog9This has bugged me for years too; I have full edit rights over my own posts, I can single-handedly approve or reject any edit suggested to them if I catch it in time, why can't I override an approval or rejection if an edit happens to get reviewed while I'm asleep? Well, now we can! Oded toiled...

Yes!

They both look pretty weird with the Chat Prettify Userscript.

@Mego That's the most sensible answer I've heard yet to that question. Are you okay?

@Geobits I know, I should've used more caps lock and rage. This is the internet, after all.

@Dennis Does that mean that I should notify a mod of past abusive edits if I'm aware of them? Even if they were from a long time ago?

ok, but wait a minute: those things are called that because the style of how they are made
not because one of the ingredients comes from there

Kentucky whisky (= bourbon)

@DestructibleLemon Nah, pretty sure it's solely because of the pineapple

(that is what I was saying)
hawaiian pizza is canadian

No. Thinly sliced light ham

Let's call it Pineapple Pizza...

Let's call it Barely Pizza.

Anchovies are disgusting

Yes. Half of them don't even really make sense (then again, they're probably Cantonese)

also I think that one of those fast food restaraunt called their thing hawaiian because it had pineapple

"Moo Goo Gai Pan" translates roughly to something to do with mushrooms, if i'm translating it correctly

@DestructibleLemon Je t'accuse!

@Geobits That's the point. If set(x) == x then it means that x doesn't have any duplicate elements.

user165474
Would that be optimized to not explode?

In Python? Nope, you'd get a stack overflow (unless you used Stackless Python or one of the similar versions)

Well in python it will reach the recursion limit pretty quick (it's 1000 I think by default)?

Anonymous
@HelkaHomba Yep, 1k

user165474
Ah. I see.

Anonymous
Recursion is simple

5:01 AM
Though it wouldn't explode if allowed to recurse, since it could do tail call optimization and just be an inf loop. def f(): f()+f(); would explode exponentially

user165474
Oh okay. I see.

Well I mean, the problem, I can't remember the exact setup I needed. I know what my end condition and end result are but I can't remember the parts I need for my recursive part

@HelkaHomba TCO breaks tracebacks, and GvR would rather have cleaner, simpler tracebacks than efficiency

can't you just increase the recursion limit in python

Anonymous
@ConorO'Brien Yep!

Anonymous
sys.setrecursionlimit(x)

why not do that here?

Anonymous
5:05 AM
Because the recursion limit isn't a problem?

oh
I misread, rip

Seriously though, when was the last time you had a recursion depth anywhere near 1000 on purpose?

ackerman function?
lev dist?

user165474
When I tried calculating 1 million factorial using the recursive method a year ago

I can see a DFS going 1000 step easy (though at that point it should be coded differently)

user165474
Can I see the code you're using to generate it?

Anonymous
@ConorO'Brien Levenshtein distance can be calculated iteratively. Computing values of the Ackermann function is asking for a stack overflow.

TIL iterative lev distance. and yeah that's true

Anonymous
@HelkaHomba Exactly - that could be done iteratively
