1:00 AM

@DerpfacePython Seen this yet? :P

What is it?

Lisp-like to Minecraft-native compiler.

Haven't seen it yet, but I want to make redstone programming in code (so you don't have to buy MC to use it).

1:03 AM
@DerpfacePython What about this, then? :P

@HelkaHomba I prefer this. Kappa

@Syxer I've seen that.
I just want to make it in like
actual text code

ohhhhhh

Can I spout out ideas for the thing here? Or do I have to make a new room

@ThreeFx what the heck is this?

1:05 AM
It's a unicorn onesie :3

No comement.

@DerpfacePython Feel free. :) I'm interested by most MC related things

Ah, kk.

@DerpfacePython How are you gonna make it, exactly?

@ColdGolf I currently just have ideas

1:07 AM
Also, I have only seen like one or two redstone responses on the entire codegolf.se site

but yeah

.|- could signify redstone

great idea actually

R could signify a repeater

1:07 AM
ive never thought it was possible

@TheBitByte Look through my answers, sorted from most popular top.

B is a block

@Syxer well, im no minecraft expert.

@DerpfacePython You'll need it to be a 3D lang, probably.

___ signifies a break between layers
Yeah, IK.

1:08 AM
i only know left click in minecraft removes blocks
thats all

Well, imma hit the hay, long day. G'night!

I could have some sort of input/output system

Good night, ThreeFX!

I is input
O is output
Good night!

@DerpfacePython If you make it export to Minecraft, I can help with that.

1:09 AM
@DerpfacePython Like, will you be making a script that can import minecraft save files? or like mcedit files?

Hmmm... I'm mainly thinking of making a Minecraft lang from scratch, but eh.

^ Style image

CMC: Print out all even numbers up to and including the given input starting from 2.

@DerpfacePython I don't know if like people are willing to kinda re-write their complex redstone in text, unless it's like an easy format..
Then again I'm no redstone expert

1:11 AM
@R.Kap 05AB1E: ÅȦ

What's the significance behind the name 05AB1E?

@R.Kap Vitsy: 2/1Hl\[2*NaO]

When I input it it gives me 1. Obviously I don't think it's on purpose, because 05AB2E gives an output of 2.

@Adnan This is faster than the startup time for my language.

@R.Kap Mathematica, 13 bytes: Range[2,#,2]&

1:14 AM
@TheBitByte When 05AB1E is converted from hex to Base64, it results into "Base"

Ugh... the thing is, writing complex redstone mechanics are crazy
I'm thinking of including a separate file for repeater times

@Syxer hahaha

@Syxer how 2 generat imag

Ooh

1:15 AM

@Syxer Huh, but why?

Bash, 17 bytes: echo seq 2 2 $1

@Adnan Because it uses mad wizardry
(it's java and has an internal JS interpreter)

@Adnan This is creepy...

Well, it's okay since prime functions in osabie are also very slow haha

1:17 AM
duuuuuude

Okay Adnan this is even crazier
Enough for today hahahaha.

I should already be sleeping right now

Another CMC: Given 2 inputs, a string and an integer, output the former latter number of times in 1 line. For example, given the input (-,10), the output should be ----------.

@R.Kap So like (k,6) ----> kkkkkk?

@TheBitByte Yes.

1:19 AM
3 bytes: Àä$

> Comment: my light-signal router sends a bit every 10 seconds :(

@ΛεγίωνΜάμμαλϠΨΠʹ LiFi is actually a thing. Internet using photons.

05AB1E: ×

@R.Kap Mathematica, 12 bytes: StringRepeat

1:22 AM
@R.Kap Can't try it online, but Vitsy: iViin\[VO]

Ummm...
Oh yeah and a torch is T
So a not gate in MineCode would be I-BT-O

Bash, 26 bytes: printf "$1%.0s" `seq 1 $2`

I think I've seen that comic thrice in chat today... :P

I have no idea how to code minecode...
It's too hard

1:27 AM
@DerpfacePython That's what everyone says until it's easy.

Like, actually create Minecode
I don't know where to start

it's hard? idk
@El'endiaStarman feel free to eleven it :P
with a different comic

OK, last call, has anyone here not posted xkcd 1725 yet today?
:P

@trichoplax Me! Me! I haven't! :D

:)
I see @El'endiaStarman ninjad me...

1:33 AM
I wonder how hard it would be to find the least-used words or numbers in TNB...

If you're not in a hurry, I guess quite easy. If you don't want to wait a lifetime, perhaps a little more challenging...

Argh :(

@El'endiaStarman I'd imagine there are some words that have never been used here.

CMC: Find a single word that is used exactly once in all of TNB's transcript. Case insensitive for an extra challenge.
@DLosc That should be relatively easy. The hard part is finding words that have been used, but not often.

@El'endiaStarman I guess if you start with an empty list of character combinations to check, and only add ones you find while going through the transcript, then it wouldn't take too long

1:36 AM
@DLosc For instance, quadrupole. Which is a real thing.

@El'endiaStarman But the second problem is easily reduceable to the first. Find a word that's never been used and post it in chat. Voila--it's been used only once.

@El'endiaStarman petco, case insensitive

@El'endiaStarman Does it have to be a real word? If not it's quite easy

@DLosc Well, that would indeed trivialize it, so it can't include messages after my CMC.
@trichoplax Ha, point. How about a word that would be accepted at Scrabble?

@El'endiaStarman Yeah, I guess that's analogous to the "no languages created after the challenge" rule.

1:39 AM
Of course by mentioning the word I've found, I've rendered it no longer unique (already shows up twice in my link)

@El'endiaStarman yun, case insensitive

Aug 16 at 18:49, by Mego
@flawr I was salivating, but that's because I had just prepared my lunch when the interviewer called.
Well, "salivating."

@Syxer Is that a word, though, or is it a name?

@El'endiaStarman Fair enough. I didn't see the Scrabble rule

@DLosc Looks legit. Congrats! :P
CMC part two: find the shortest such word. Tiebreaker: alphabetical order.

antidisestablishmentarianism?

@DerpfacePython Not a word.

Fine, internationalis(z)ation

(in the dictionary)

Both spellings.

@Syxer Ooh, nice. How are you searching for these?

Not a winner at this point, but the quote is fun: apotheosis
Dec 19 '14 at 20:33, by Eric Tressler
it is the apotheosis of all cats

1:50 AM
I think I made a pretty nice dream pic

not bad actually

I made it by grabbing some identicons, pasting them together and using it as the guide

noice

hey, what if I used deep dream on this chatroom?

@DestructibleWatermelon Who's identicons did you grab?

1:54 AM
yours, Rohans, cold golf, some other guy

I think one is ColdGolf's
Wait mine?
Wot

top left
I just grabbed the first 4 I saw

That's weird... mine in my screen looks like this: imgur.com/a/TvV8M

1:56 AM
Wow the deam dream stuff is still being posted

It took this long to finish generating the images we started way back when. :P

~15 minutes and we'll have another cool one
anyone here like square root of minus garfield?
/ sqrt(-garfield)

@DestructibleWatermelon Does this mean you read Irregular Webcomic! ?

How about Darths And Droids?

1:59 AM
yes

Hello
Wait what... my icon is still the identicon thing

have you seen the sqrt(-garfield) I made?

Where is it

it takes a bit
If you want us to see a lot, post a link to your main profile

I probably haven't, since I don't read \sqrt{-garfield}. :P
@DerpfacePython Yeah, both here and on your chat profile.

2:00 AM
here is mine!
why is the link not working
._.
ok, there we go

Needed the http:// in front.

@DerpfacePython Better?

my dream is still on 2% ಠ_ಠ

Q: Standard atmosphere properties

helloworld922The International Standard Atmosphere (ISA) is a model of the Earth's atmosphere on an "average" day. It includes information on pressure, temperature, and density change vs. altitude. The ISA tabulates these properties at various layers, and an estimation of the value of interest can by found b...

@trichoplax ?

2:04 AM
I refreshed your profile. Now I see a robot duck as your avatar

A robot duck?
It's meant to be a Minecraft chicken.

A granite duck?

But whatevs.

Does it show here for you now?

Yeah.
It works now.

2:05 AM
Great :)

WOOT!

I will deep dream your avatar as soon as the current one is done

@DerpfacePython Sorry about the confusion - now that I zoom in I can see from the wattle that it's a chicken

41% dreamed
also this is one of my favourite √-garfield
why so small...
also this one
some people deep dreams have finished now, if you want to check if yours is and post

@DestructibleWatermelon Can you put them into an Imgur album?

2:14 AM
my deep dreams?
also, I was referring to the fact that there was only my dream in the queue

@El'endiaStarman This probably doesn't count because it's an artifact of Markdown, but: eft

chat with the identicon guide
original

@DestructibleWatermelon This makes me think of Andy Warhol paintings

Ok, I need a new guide image

Reparsing the transcript again to catch those 1-starred messages and also record the ones that are deleted. Hopefully, the main optimization I made (retrieve message IDs ahead of time to avoid searching the database to see if a new message is in there) will make it go by much faster.

2:20 AM

@quartata: Also, I've moved it to a private Postgres instance, so I'll be able to install fuzzystrmatch.

making the dream

2:36 AM
@El'endiaStarman Thanks. That should help me diagnose my bugs and play with this stuff a little easier
I hope it wasn't too big of an inconvenience

Not really, no, just something I had to do sooner or later.

There are lots of words that are in the chat transcript twice. X^(

It's da chicken!

Those Hobbeses, tho... 0_0
@El'endiaStarman Do the words in the chat transcript have to be used as words in the posts they come from?

2:45 AM
@DLosc Uh...yes? What do you have?

Lox:

Or should I say lOx.

LOL.
Fun fact: that's a Minkolang program for drawing the Mandelbrot set in ASCII. :D

Ooh! Running it now...
It looks like it takes a command-line argument--what does that input control?

Lemme check. It's old code, after all.

Language design problem: lets say I have a function with two optional parameters parameters: def func(a=someVal, b=a.property)

2:51 AM
@NathanMerrill This will be possible in Pytek.

referencing other params?

can you reference later params?
def func(a=b.prop, b=someVal)?

Depends on the order they're parsed, at the moment. I think that should work once I implement that feature where variables don't have to be fully defined until they're needed.

@HelkaHomba A photo of a path through woods, DeepStyled a la Calvin and Hobbes.

2:55 AM
@El'endiaStarman hmm...that requires cycle detection
given, it's not a tree, its just a linked list
actually, that's not true either
its a tree, but not a graph

I won't need cycle detection. My plan is to keep a list of variables that haven't been fully defined yet along with what variables they need defined, and reevaluate them when any of those have been defined.

and if they never get defined?

I guess I'll have an error message for them.

that's a really tough error message to make readable

Stuff like printing will require that variables be defined, so they have to be fully defined by then.

2:58 AM
"Additional parameter required"?

@NathanMerrill NotFullyDefinedVariable: variable x was not fully defined; missing values for a, y, k
