@hichris123 This is more plausible now that there are a lot more people with close vote privileges, but IMO the sandbox works better. The regular SE system is designed for genuine questions, not contests, and changing the rules of a contest after people have entered sometimes offends.

@m.buettner If sometime finds an optimal solution which runs in O(n^2) then it's publishable, and probably worth about 1/3 PhD. In that case, the fake Internet points are of minor consequence.

@PeterTaylor, good point. Do changes to the timeout system otherwise eliminate the concerns you had expressed in the comments.

Somehow I always cringe when a challenge starts with "Most creative way to..." codegolf.stackexchange.com/q/32172/8478
(and it usually turns out to be justified)
But at the same time I can't tell if there is sufficient reason to downvote and/or close vote this.

Sure. It's unclear because of the restriction on "esoteric" languages.

ah, good point, thanks

@PeterTaylor meta.codegolf.stackexchange.com/a/1695/8478 I've rewritten the game rules in terms of a velocity instead of position differences. Do you also think this is a bit clearer? And I've added the controller program (and the benchmark file, but that's still a dummy, to be honest), in case you want to have a look.

6:39 PM
If my memory serves, Rusher was the person who wanted that clarified.

@PeterTaylor Ah you're right, never mind then. Gotta work on some benchmark tracks now. I guess I'll ask here for a code review on Monday when more people are around.

This closed question inspired me to make a new project. I made a clock that divides the day into 10ths, then into 10ths again, ... : DeciClock
