With firearms in particular, there's a lot of stuff which wouldn't be on topic on TGO, and I think some aspects of firearm culture are very different from the culture of this site.

Questions about firearms for self defense, military/law enforcement applications, or even indoor target shooting are IMO completely off-topic for TGO, but common and valid questions for a firearms community.

Or questions about things like gun technology, ammunition, or legal things, for that matter. Really a stretch in my opinion to call those topics outdoors related, even if some applications might be in the outdoors.

I don't think we should shut down questions about firearms on TGO, but I also don't think we should discourage the creation of a separate site focused specifically on firearms. There's plenty of topics which aren't a good fit here, or which would get a better response from a community whose main focus is firearms, not general outdoor activities.

@nhinkle I don't think anyone intentionally trying to shut down any of the multiple attempts at site now proposed as The Armory. There is a large body of potential questions that would not fit on TGO. But no one is asking those questions. 90% of the "actual question that you might ask on this site." that have been posted are a good fit for TGO. Some of those questions are now being asked here.

Everything on Bicycles is in scope at TGO, but both sites still exist. The fact remains that "the Armory" type sites (of which there have been many proposals) repeatedly don't launch, or fail after launch. See my comment here

@RoryAlsop did you migrate the question "Travel trailer with pets during a tornado"? Whom ever did sent it to TGO Meta meta.outdoors.stackexchange.com/questions/790/… Sending it to Pets.SE might be a better choice.

Maybe it was an auto move? the only possible selection I had when suggesting the move was TGO meta.

I don't really see it as a pet question (that bit is a tiny subsection) - the one you have over on Pets is a much better one for pets in storms.

I see here is what happened it auto migrated, because an mod did not participate, there is only one migrate option available to non-mods when choosing migrate.
