@Liam erm between banning phones and most websites... They've frustrated me. Ok my phone I get... But I have to keep asking for development related websites... A lot...

Plus they hinted the company isn't doing so well

And I've been waiting two weeks now for my staging website to have the DNS reconfigured as it doesn't work... And yeah, still broken. So my development there is held up.

@Liam oh goodness that's ages. My step mum handed in her notice and it's 6months

Luckily she is just retiring

@Aravona In principle I like it - some stuff will overlap here and with Travel, but the proposed scope also includes boat maintenance, sailing tactics, racing, provisioning etc

Ok after two weeks of complaining my IT guy finally spent 30seconds giving my staged website a new external IP

I can work on it again now. Finally

@Aravona seriously! I bet they wasted much more than 30 seconds in procrastinating about it

@RoryAlsop of course!! I'm getting super frustrated with people here

@Aravona always interesting to see which companies waste millions in wasted downtime due to inefficient IT processes - and are loathe to spend any money fixing those processes

It used to frustrate me intensely

Now (luckily) I'm senior enough I just pout my lip and say "well, I can't do 'X' until you fix this"

"No, I don't have another way to do it"

@RoryAlsop haha I wish I had that... But they think productivity will go up with these bans... Not for me. Yesterday I was held up for 45 minutes because I couldn't access a website I needed... I am logging every hold up in my notebook too ;)

@Aravona the thing that bugs me about this kind of thing, I sent this to HR when I handed in my notice. I literally get offered a job every week! There are far more jobs than people can do the jobs (experienced people anyway). The SO survey showed this recently that people with 10_ years experience are few and far between.

But often companies, rather than trying to keep a highly in demand worker just treat them(us) like someone that is easily replaced and ultimately not important (my company employs mostly call centre workers, they keep this mentality for everyone)

@Aravona my last org didn't have a time code for this sort of thing, so I said that until they did it was going on one of the senior partner's expense codes :-)

Good companies try to keep their workers by making them feel like they're wanted, bad one's simply don't care

I racked up a lot of hours on that one

@Aravona In a situation like that I'd be quite demanding of what I'd need in a counter-offer :-)

I am not on a terrible wage for someone aged 26 with 5 years experience (29.5k) but the roles I'm being put forward for are worth much more

@Aravona I think that's more than I was on at your age :)

Though I live in North wales not down south

Also I'm that old that inflation applies in that equation now....

@Liam I think about inflation a lot... And I've saved up an emergency 6month bills fund in case of work disaster...

I am a tad money paranoid :)

Anyway, pup is getting bigger every day... Will be outdoors soon enough... Geocaching and hiking etc
