Morning all
Anyone follow the "Mountaineering and climbing UK" facebook group?

8:35 AM
@Liam not yet....

@RoryAlsop 1) you should, it's good
2) the guy is trying to build a web site off the back of it and I'm giving him a hand

@Liam a facebook search doesn't find it.
have you a link?

8:52 AM
Can't get on facebook in work. I gave you the wrong name, try "Scrambling & Mountaineering UK"
@RoryAlsop^

9:10 AM
@Liam success - yes it is this one. Saw your posts on it

9:21 AM
@RoryAlsop I might use it as an opportunity to spread this site a little. The groups got lot's of followers. At the moment it seems I might be writting their web site for them....

@Liam it looks like an ideal one for seeing a question appear, and posting it here, or better yet, pointing the OP here and getting them to ask it here

I think their could be a good amount of cross over to benfit both sites
Early days yet. I've only swapped a few messages with the guy getting it all up and running

@Liam sounds awesome!

10:16 AM

Bird watching proposal on area51 can someone address if the non-biology aspects are in scope here?

@JamesJenkins We don't seem to have any birdwatching questions at the moment but I don't see why this would be off topic
Seems to be plenty of cross over from other aspects that are very much on topic here
woodsmanship, etc.

Birding and ornithography are a very broad subject, probably deserving of their own site. People in my family are intense birders; while there is some general overlap with the outdoors since it's an activity that takes place outdoors, I think it would be better as its own site.
You have biology questions, identification questions, questions about how/when/where to find birds, questions about definitions of birding terminology, equipment, etc. all of which would be relevant and related to each other, but would be split across too many other SE sites as-is. I don't see birding questions ever taking off on TGO but I do see it being successful on its own if you bring all those things together.

@nhinkle I disagree.

A: What would be on topic at Birds that is not on topic at Biology?

J. Musser"Proposed Q&A site for bird lovers, birdwatchers, bird biology, etc." When I hear 'bird lovers', what comes to mind is those folks who regularly put out bird feeders, bird baths, plant bird-friendly landscapes, etc, to enjoy bird activity in their own backyards. As far as I'm aware, the only sit...

Q: Owls is in scope of Birds

AlizterProposal: Owls (Strigiformes) This is a duplicate of Birds which is itself having a bumpy definition. In other words this is way to specific.
