Hey, sorry I've fallen off, had lots of thigs happening here.
In case you didn't know this already, Diablo 3 had FOUR levels of difficulty, with fourth being (almost) even an letting a max level character play the entire game and not only run Hades for weeks. Four is better that three, right?
And then, Blizzard got rid of those tiered difficulty levels that you had to complete in sequence, and people are not actually complaining about that, so I got to have some credibilty.
And now Diablo has TEN difficulty levels in normal play, and UNLIMITED (practically about 50 or 60) levels of difficulty in the endgame. Ten or fifty is much better that "3" judging by the way you position these thing, isn't it?
I will probably reply in a backwards order, as it is more convenient considering scrolling and remembering stuff
YOU: Polished monster slaying loot based game? Explain to me how that isn't TQ, and so far I don't even see the polishing part at all, "with rewarding progression" TQ has that as well, and it is done VERY well at that. "season races" and "leaderboards" are things that are achievable only because of the current technology they wouldn't be able to do this in TQ at the time. "game-changing items and all those things that make you want to slay monsters. " TQ also has this and even more memorable bosses, you can't deny that... Each boss had his own backstory and COMPLETELY unique attack style.
YOU: 1st part also exists in TQ >.> That's definitely not a plus point in Diablo 3's favor? It's an equal part.... And you're trying to tell me there's "a lot of customization in D3" with what you just said compared to TQ... really ?
ME: Really.
YOU: This is TQ vs Diablo 3, not Diablo 2 vs Diablo 3... Those are opinion based stuff that are more about "preferring" rather than something that is better or influences the game in a more major way. On the latter part however, you're trying to tell me legendary items in TQ didn't influence how your character developed? Are you kidding me? There are entire legendary armor sets in the game that are so hard to collect I don't even need to get started, and even if you do get them you're not gonna turn into some Oover Powered Overlord in the game >.> It DOES however make you obviously stronger

1 hour later…
10:10 AM
YOU: Uhmm first off, no... You can't fill the 12 skill slots early in the game, you'll need to be at least level 32+ to be able to actually have a filler bar by that time you'll be like what ? half done if not more than with the game? Second... You are not forced to spend your levels upgrading the same skills >.> You're literally looking at this 1 sided >.> You can simply SKIP the entire first tree (obviously you need to at least put ONE point to unlock a skil lthat goes up in the skil ltree) and just get other skills, you have passive abilities, active abilities, different types of combina
Oh. You say that in TQ you "know that in order to get the legit drops you have to work for it and not just replay places you went through" - can you please elaborate? What do you do, then? That is the item-hunting endgame of TQ?
YOU: Are we talking about Diablo 3 or TQ on this one? Cause if you're talking about someone copying a build that can and IS done on literally every RPG out there >.> You're trying to tell me D3 has no "these are the best skill sets for this hero" or anything even vaguely similar ? please... In Titan Quest you have the compelte freedom to make up your own class, spend skill points however you want and there are basically no limitations.

ME: Okay, you are free to make your own class, but how many of those are actually viable? Like, how many of those can kill people with efficiency that you w
Limitations are the same as in TQ - if you want you hero to actually defeat anyone, you have to follow some basic rules. In TQ this is "get this skill at max points, because it becomes better from each point" and "only put X points here, because after that it becomes worthless".
In D3 this is "use any generator skill, heavy hitter skill, mobility skill and 3 support skills you like" with oppotunities to drop or rebalance each of these categories. But any of them. Like, if you have a build that relies on mana, you can usually take any of generator skills - one may be better against single targets, another against crownds, third only shines with high attack speed - and the game does try to keep all those conditions coming at you in equal shares.
YOU: Respecing thing is simply evolution and it has nothing to do with actual points on which game is better, this is an aspect of the game you can choose to ignore if you don't want to >.> This is pure opinion and doesn't even affect the gameplay in such a MAJOR way >.>

ME: So, you are saying that all the things you claim as MAJOR POINTS that TQ is better - are just pure opinions that can just be ignored, and things you say are better do not affect the pleasure from a game in any major way?
YOU: TQ does not beat D2 btw >.> you need to both compare the periods and what the game offers compared to the other in order to come to that conclusion, and Diablo 2 by far beats TQ due to the better story and more memorable cast. Path of Exile can't be compared to Torchlight 2, PoE tries to copy Diablo 2 atmosphere with some mobs from TQ and innovative skill tree and classes... Torchlight 2 has it's own mood different target in terms of gameplay and is not an MMO.

ME: So, you are saying that I can't compare A to B, and then go to compare them yourself? Is this some kind of elitism, "quod
YOU: MOST of those points are legit, if not so list the not so legit points and give me the overall score where Diablo 3 would actually win, which I doubt you'll be able to make however, but if you do then I salute you. But until then putting the video aside right?

ME: I can easily give you the list of things that are better in D3, and then only slightly mention things that are better in TQ, and give TQ minor points for them, as the guy does. But then you'd say that I'm wrong and I'm missing the point, while me saying that the guy's wrong is not accepted for some reason.

10:50 AM
But still, since you are so doubtful, list of those points mentioned in the video:
1. Customization: Except banners, Diablo 3 now has transmogrifications, wings, portrait frames and ability to dye any piece of armor.
2. First level experience - who cares?? He also gives 1/1, wont' argue.
3. First levelup - why does he discuss only 1st, 2nd and 8th levelups, and ignores 4th, 10th, 14th, 19th, 20th, 30th, 60th, and 70th? I sense bias.
4. Rune system - in Diablo 3 you have to choose the skill effect, while in TQ you can have all. Okay, did someone say that meaningful choice is good?
6.a. Special animation for badass kills? So you can punch someone's skeleton out of his body in TQ?
6.b. The difference in environments? Why does not this brain-dead expert ever leave several starting areas of D3, intentinally filled with slow-moving zombies??? Did he visit deserts and oases of Act 2? Battlefields, fortifications and hellish landscapes of Act 3? Sky-high magnificent structures of Act 4? I'd like to see how happy he'll be with first four areas of TQ, if he was forced to play only them forever.
7. Voice acting. TQ falls so short in this, but I consider this a veery minor point.
8. Charms, Relics and Artifacts are very cool - no doubt in that, I loved that system. But again, the guy is absolutely criminally lying about what Diablo has to offer. He does not mention Legendary item recipes (and recipes for complete Sets!) you find in the world. He doesn't mention Gems you upgrade and socket in (and remove from, too) your gear.
There was no Mystic artisan back then, who can now reroll one magic property on any of your items, and that has some consequences, cost, and probability of failure. There was no Legendary Gems back then, that are put into certain gear, and give incredible bonuses, which you can upgrade and gain secondary powers. Damn, to hell with Legendary Gems, how did he not mention regular gems, they start dropping at, like, level 13!!
9. So randomly encountering events and miniquests in the world is bad. But having all the content just laid in fron of you every time is good, because replayability, right? He is, again, making it sound like D3 has three side quests when TQ has seven. I guess those seven are side quests available in one Act of TQ - well, Act 1 of D3 has 14 possible random events and 7 "cursed" events which are not really quests, but still have a fight and a nice bonus in the end.
10. Hey, the guy still refers to the same old Cathedral level 1-4 levels and says they are repetitive! Or really? Again: how repetitive would fixed areas of TQ be if you could never leave first four?
He is also blatantly lying. He says he had three levels of dungeon that are abcolutely the same - this was possible if he was actually looking at the same level three times. Cathdral 1, Cathedral 2, and Cathedral 4 have different rules of generation, with 1 and 2 having different mandatory pieces and 4 having wildly different layout.
11. Setting: 1st, this is very taste-dependent. 2nd - oh how many times I have to say this idiot is playing a DEMO with only 1/12th of the game unlocked??????
(Currently it is either 1/15th or very much less, depending on point of view.)
12. Mods. Well, it is creative freedom versus hacks and no real competitiveness. This is not a point in anyone's favor, these are different, equally valid, approaches.
13. Always-online. Inconvenient, true. But still, it is the only way to make the game hack-proof, see point 12. Personally, I am old enough to only buy the games I have the bandwidth to support. Valid warning.
14. What kind paranoia is that? How does the game quality depend on this guy's obsession with copying files?
Practically, the game is not going to be shut down in foreseeable future, and even when it is eventually shut down, Blizzard will most likely hand it over to some community that will maintain servers for the lovers of ancient things - that did happen with some games before.
15. Price - moot. If you're poor, wait for a sale. They DO have sales, guy's lying again (oh really?)
16. Yes. The Auction House is a dark page in D3's history. The guy still makes it sound like Blizzard sells items themselves, which was false, but yeah - the AH did skew the game in a major way. It is not there anymore though, and Blizzard has made some more moves to make people play the game instead of going to third-party scan sites to trade.
17. No objections to the point, but two health bars? I can not for the life of me see two health bars even on his screen.
18. Achievements.
19. Replayability is much more that the number of classes. I've already mentioned Seasons, but there is another thing - HARDCORE MODE. Don't say "just stop playing if you die" - that doesn't build a community. Hardcore community is great.
20. Difficulty levels - oh, he mentions Hardcore here. Also the difficulty is completely revamped now in D3, an I can't say it got worse.
21. Random bosses.
Okay, it stops here. Recap:
Obsolete: 1, 16, 19/20 - three points have seriously improved since the review.
Wrong/incomplete: 3, 5, 6, 8, 10, 11 - on six points he's either lying or hiding 11/12ths of the game from you.
Just disagree: 4, 9, 12/13/14 - on three points I either disagree with his conclusion or his dramatism.
