I tend to concur. I guess in IRL elections it's considered amusing to bring up current, divisive issues and try to use an election as a litmus test or otherwise to get them hashed out, but I think it's in poor taste here. Having a brand new issue on meta and then demanding as part of the election "HOW WOULD YOU RULE ON THIS" is pretty uncool, and candidates would certainly be within their rights, and decorum, to not answer it.

Mmm. I'm generally of the opinion that it's better to elect people based on whether one trusts them to make good decisions, rather than on a specific decision they make (or promise to make).
