@Simon nearest to me is half moon bay at black rock. I can walk there. I find the surf beaches to far and water too cold to be worth the effort

you need a 7mm down here. I've dived for years but avoid cold water. Prefer warmer water and thin wet suits but since I haven't dived in awhile I may have to try it

Diving sounds infinitely preferable to cricket! But then, I'm not really a sports watcher.

@Simon add the qualifier "in warm water" and I'd agree. Like I said I might rent some gear one of these days and do a dive down here but it is not my idea of relaxation when the water is that cold.
