I voted to reopen this because WB3 seems to be officially available as an Eclipse plugin now:

Q: Where can I get Workbench 3 and why do I need it?

mrzI read in some questions/answers that people are using Workbench 3. From where can I get the Workbench 3, which is the most current version and why would I need it?

The answer can be posted only after reopening.

@Sascha That is strange, the link still works for me (in the Netherlands)

8:10 AM
@JacobAkkerboom Now it works for me as well; previously it said just "replay unavailable"

@MichaelHale I guess you used the cycles renderer?

I thought this was quite an interesting question:

Q: How to get a order array as the graph

yodeSuppose I have such graph: SeedRandom[3]; g = GridGraph[{5, 6}]; graph = Graph[RandomSample[VertexList@g], EdgeList@g, VertexLabels -> "Name"] Of course we don't know the matrix dimension is {5,6} in advance.How to get such matrix? $$\left( \begin{array}{cccccc} 26 & 21 & 16 & 11 & 6 & ...

You are given a grid graph without any spatial embedding. Now recover the grid structure from it: label nodes with i and j indices to indicate their position in the grid.

@halirutan Yeah

@MichaelHale Funny enough I'm working this very moment on a visualization of the floor plan of our institute that I will use in animations for a video. I had everything setup with the cycles renderer and the results were like I wanted them..
Unfortunately, the redering took so long that I needed about 3h for some seconds of video. Last night I switched back to the normal blender renderer and things are faster by far.

3:00 PM
@halirutan For something like that the default renderer would probably be fine. I was experimenting with the glass effects in cycles. Although one of my lights is a point light, which will typically not be randomly sampled for the caustic effects in cycles.
They have to add photon mapping into cycles or something.
Still researching
@halirutan Are you still getting the nice soft shadows in the default renderer?

3:20 PM
@MichaelHale It seems that is not the case.

@halirutan You get them automatically with cycles because it uses sampling for everything. For default you need to set sampling for the area light individually. Will still likely be darker than cycles because it doesn't sample the light bouncing off walls.

@MichaelHale I wrote a simple povray wrapper for Mathematica, maybe it would be useful to you

@xslittlegrass Thanks. I'm mostly just toying around with different renderers now. I tried the POV-ray plugin for Blender, but it doesn't have any material support. You have to write POV-ray code for those. Now I saw Pixar's RenderMan has free non-commercial version with Blender plugin, so I'm experimenting with that now.

@halirutan @xslittlegrass That's the RenderMan plugin for Blender after 22 min. Pretty nice.

@MichaelHale That's cool!
