In the answer I posted to the recent question about duplicates, I mentioned in connection with modular arithmetic: "Similarly, if Question A had an answer listing some useful tricks for this type of computation, I would have no objections to closing Question C as a duplicate."
In order to work on the main site in a similar way as I propose on meta, I have started a CW answer to How do I compute $a^b\,\bmod c$ by hand? There is certainly a lot of space for improvement. If you have some useful ideas, go ahead and edit the post.

What do you think about direction of duplicate closure.
Prove that $\gcd(a, b) = \gcd(a, b + ma)$? has two answers and less than 100 views in two years.
I voted to close it as a duplicate of another question:
Why is $\gcd(a,b)=\gcd(b,r)$ when $a = qb + r$? seems to be much more popular. Almost 4k views, score 13, 10 answers, the answers have gained several upvotes.
But a user with voted to close in the opposite direction.
Wouldn't it be more logical to leave the post which has more answers open?

It seems to be generally accepted that quality of answers should be taken into account when choosing which of the two questions should be closed as duplicate: meta.math.stackexchange.com/questions/16417/… Number of upvotes and number of views are also factors. (Number of views shows - to some extent - which of those questions was found when somebody searched for that question.)
