12:40 AM
this fedora 24 -> fedora 25 upgrade has taken 9 hours so far

ouch.

hopefully it will be done by tomorrow

2 hours later…
2:28 AM
I love sustainability clowns. They always start from the premise that "I know nothing about this, therefore it is easy"... which is correct, as long as you accept that living for 40 years makes you old, and that caves are the ultimate in comfort. I think they call this "the argument from ignorance"
(also, I should really stop saying things like that because sometimes people believe me. The actual "argument from ignorance" is that something must be true because it hasn't been proven false). I tend to assume everyone knows stuff like that, and then I'm wrong.
Mind you, today at work we have been having problems with people for whom "type your phone number into this box" is an intellectual challenge for which they are not equipped.

2:57 AM
hehe I don't even know my work phone number
its through 8x8 which is a clusterfuck phone system
IE employees use a softphone on their mobiles.
errrr.... "no"

3:25 AM
and its done.

3:35 AM
@Batman yay!
I hope this is some giant fedora near-supercomputer, rather than the pile of museum-grade computer parts that I fear you're actually using.

its a raspberry pi

@Batman OVERCLOCK!

sadistic bastard
masochistic ?
I can never tell them apart

@Criggie nah, a real masochist would run the Pi off a Class 2 SD card. A big Class 2 SD card (class 1's don't come in 'big').
It would be amusing to plot class of SD card against "time to fill max size card available" and see which is worst.
I suspect you can actually buy a new "Class 10" off the internet that has a 128GB capacity and takes days to write the whole card. Maybe that's what Batman has.

its a sandisk 32 gig class 10.

3:43 AM
@Batman then the upgrade must use it very inefficiently. I fear write cycle exhaustion.
FWIW copying 120GB of music onto my new uSD card when I got it took a few hours. Less than 12.

its not really the disk speed that has been the bottleneck. dnf (the package manager) is slow on everything

3:56 AM
its a Pi - its no speed daemon

5 hours later…
8:43 AM
@Batman, aptly named then

13 hours later…
10:10 PM
So, who has a Pebble smart{cough} watch that's about get become a paperweight?

Not me. I still have and use a Palm TX

1 hour later…
11:29 PM
200 years of bicycle history, as graphic

Nice - nothing happened after 2013 and now
and nothing between 1817 and 1858
