@Criggie time to learn some skills. I mean "duuude, skillzup!"
10k points means "access moderator tools" and that seems to mean it always shows "N review tasks" in the top bar and I can't work out how to get rid of them. It seems to be a count of interesting events, but it conceals the count of active review tasks.
$300 seems reasonable for it, assuming the wheels are ok. Cheap wheels on tandems often give out, at which point you're looking at another $300 for better wheels.
And the disk swap is probably not worth it, that tandem isn't suitable for anything where disk brakes would be needed. Lacking them might encourage you to be suitably cautious.
might be worth following Ben@Trisled on failbook coz he posts some interesting builds. facebook.com/Trisled-164374643594582 is their company page, but when you see him post friend him. He has a dog-back weird load bike right now
My understanding is that the actual law limits you to the same size as other vehicles, but the AusRoads standards (that NZ uses) specify the "design width" of a bicycle as 700mm
weird- I always thought it was one of teh design requirements of a bicycle, line astern ratehr than side by side. So the rhodes car would be classed as a low-power car instead of a bicycle.
@Criggie Nope, generally a bicycle is a human powered vehicle with two or more wheels (most places a unicycle is not a bicycle) and they have a few random restrictions added, like in South Straya no more than 400mm from bottom to top of the handlebars... because ape hanger bars make the girls go crazeee!
So in Oz, my four wheel trailer is legal because it has no more than 500mm of overhang past the rear axle, but my two wheeled one isn't because it has more. And the people who know that number two, you and me. Even most bicycle-law people don't know it. But it's in the regs.
Those "bicycle beer bus" things would be legal here, except they'd probably fall foul of the "no open alcohol containers" rules, if those exist (I don't drink alcohol so don't pay attention). Not that those rules are enforced, if they exist, mind you
but some of the rules are fun. In Oz you aren't allowed to lower the suspension on a motor vehicle beyond a certain point. But note "motor vehicle". A friend was keen for a while to build a tricked-out van with all the cool mods, only make it pedal powered. Coz there's no restriction on lowering bicycle suspension :)
The idea of doof-doofing along with under-lighting and stuff, then getting pulled over and saying "nah, bro, it's fully legal eh".
@Criggie I dunno, the sarcastic sod that offered to arrest me when I asked why they weren't stopped me at the compulsory breath test had a sense of something.
walked a km or so to a bike shop and just caught the owner packing up. Bought new tube and tyre then
great
but I flatted in an unseen pothole about 3 km later
My refurbished pump didn;t work like it did when I tested it
The tyre had a big chunk out of it from the first flat - I missed seeing a curb till too late, tried to bunny hop it and failed. MASSIVE aluminium clonk noise. Strangely the rim did not go out of true.
Carry crocs or jandals instead. Think of the weight!
Jandals, coz crocs are awful for walking in, the soles are too thin.
I get blisters from my SPD reasonable-looking shoes, I think it's almost inevitable because they're not really made for walking. And possibly even SPD cleats affect the way you walk.WHo knows, it's not fun anyway.
Also, I should get out of bed and go to work. Long day yesterday, not feeling it today.
Still, wanna try Fedora23 on my work machine and see if I can get the displays working.
40 hour work week, boss who puts us on salary and just wants the work done, plus there's no reward for excess hours. So I try to keep it to 40 hours a week
Girly works stupid hours for a company that does project management. I have mentioned that since they can't manage their own projects it seems like a bit of a risk hiring them to manage anything else.
I have learned that lesson already, I'll work stupid hours for money, not for promises.
