@freiheit unfortunately I'm stuck at n.
How many of the rules do you follow, or not? Rule 34 is my exception :-)
SPD pedals are so much easier to use.

1 hour later…
1:17 AM
@andy256 the other rule 34 is my exception :)

1:44 AM
Rotovelo?

2:02 AM
Rule34: if you can think if it, there is porn of it on the internet.
theconversation.com/… Some muppets think that inattentional blindness is a good thing and we should have more of it on the roads.
There are some interesting links to research, including this comment and link: The contribution of inattentional blindness to motor accidents has been so well documented that the traffic safety literature has a special name for incidents resulting from it: “looked-but-failed-to-see” errors. trid.trb.org/view.aspx?id=1285356

2:24 AM
Oh. My. God.

you searched for "inattentional blindness porn" and watched the video you found?

No :-) The basic links were enough. Basic rule of the free market: regardless of ethics, people will try to make money out of anything.

2:41 AM
@Mσᶎ I sure loathe bright adverts near roads

2:53 AM
@nhinkle me too. Since @Mσᶎ left Melbun (the k1w1 pronunciation of my home town) one intersection I use (Kew Junction) has received two giant TV screens. They are so distracting. Come back Mσᶎ!

3:04 AM
@Mσᶎ Broke my build environment (ADT). Tried to use jars - ADT wouldn't do it. Tried every fix on SO and elsewhere. Twice. Reluctantly tried the final option: update. Now ADT complains that this version of the SDK (22.0.1) requires ADT 23.0.0 or above. I check for updates: there is no update. So now ADT won't even build the R class. Aahhh! I'm stopping for lunch and going for a ride.

3:18 AM
@andy256 girly says no! We're trying to buy a house. And, honestly, if we do move, I'd rather go back to NZ, especially if (as seems at least possible and increasingly likely) we get a vaguely sensible government over there. The "Dirty Politics" stuff is making more people think left-wing radicals as a minor party might be better than right-wing radicals as the majority.
@andy256 Hahahahaha! Oh, how I laugh when stuff like that happens to other people :)
Hope you have a good ride.
@nhinkle I think we already have too many distractions. The city council (ie, the core CBD area) are really big fans of those ad banners on lamp posts, so the city is carpeted in brightly coloured, moving things right next to the road. Advertising council activities, so "that's ok then". Council has their good side, many good sides, but that particular one puzzles me.

6:45 AM
hehehe... there's an intersection in Tokyo with at least six giant screens : ]
I enjoy passing it though
There was a rule made by city on how large can be screens on the streets... So guys just made a giant screen inside a building and made whole glass wall so that formally it was not outside.

@PeteH I do maintain my own bikes for the most part (I don't repack my own hubs these days cause I don't want bearings running around my floor, for example), but I'm not a mechanic [ I'm an engineering PhD candidate. ]

2 hours later…
4:05 PM
@Batman That sounds much cooler ;-)

5:01 PM
@Batman what kind of engineering? We seem to get a lot of engineers in here...

5:51 PM
@nhinkle EE, but I primarily do probability-heavy theoretical work (information theory, statistics, stochastic control, mathematical tools for signal processing, etc.). More-so an applied mathematician, but the EE piece of paper pays more =)

6:01 PM
I think @Mσᶎ is an EE too
I'm a ChemE but right now I'm a whatever-needs-to-be-done-E.

2 hours later…
8:20 PM
whilst I am a layabout-E
(minus the E)

2 hours later…
10:02 PM
@nhinkle yeah, but more of a software engineer although I work with people who design circuits.

10:28 PM
