Q: Industry-term for "authoritative government and standardized real world data."

Evan CarrollAs a project gets bigger, it tends to need data from ISO (2-alpha/3-alpha sorts of stuff) TLD-mappings City/State listings. Census / Metro-area. Tigris Zip code CLDR UN Etc., this isn't just demographic, it's localization. And, every large company I've ever worked with is on track to require...

I always knew Evan would show up here eventually. I've never figured out whether he is the ultimate narcissist, or just a really clever troll.

This was not my question, only a comment on a common presumption programmers do with CoreAudio - they try to hide and wrap it into something else before even having tested if their concept with CoreAudio really works. (-: — user3078414 21 secs ago

This not really a specific question (you are asking for opinions/advice). You might have better luck posting this at programmers.stackexchange.comblins 27 secs ago

No problem, but note that requests for documentation are off-topic here and if you want an answer to your history question it might be better on e.g. Programmers (but check their help first). — jonrsharpe 35 secs ago

> Also, why do you insist on using double spaces after ending a sentence? SO/HTML ignores them and converts to single spaces anyway, and, AFAIK, no known style guide advocates for them.

in SE markdown, double-spaces inside a quoteblock causes it to not ignore the next newline, so whenever you use a quote longer than one line you need the double-spaces to make it format correctly
other than that I have no idea

It was someone calling me out on my writing style. Admittedly, a single space is the standard now, but I've used two spaces for so long it's a hard habit to break.
And I thought I was a grammar pedant. As he himself stated, the extra space is automatically removed by the web browser anyway.

the only reason I lost the habit of double-spacing sentences was because I got in the habit of typing "sentence fragment style" on the internet where most of my sentences do not start with a capital or end with a period
back when I typed essays for school I think I was doing double-spaces even in contexts where it would be squished to a single space

The reason your question is now closed is because it's about a bikeshed issue, and everyone knows that. No amount of massaging the question will change that essential fact. There are no citations that anyone can use (that are not entirely opinion) because its purely a question of style. As to Uncle Bob's style, I blame him for the endless mental masturbation over SOLID. — Robert Harvey 10 mins ago

@RobertHarvey I did not notice your comment about "If you can imagine an entire book that answers your question, ...". Well, I can imagine clearly about 3 or 4. May be my imagination is just not good enough. I think that now I have undersood your idea, but nevertheless I still do not agree. So I am not going to delete my question myself, because I can not find answers to it and think it is good. I will wait for community reaction and see if question will get close votes. — uhbif19 3 mins ago
So apparently it's up to us to muster the 8 people it takes to remove a question.
