Recently I was having a discussion with Asaf Karagila here. In the course of discussion I flagged this comment as being rude. Curiously enough, shortly after flagging this comment one of my question was downvoted without explanation (I don't know who downvoted it but I can guess).

I am writing this because I think that the user whose comment I am talking about should be more sympathetic to his fellow community members.

(I am telling this here because I just noted that it is Math Mods' Office). It should be noted that although Hurkyl and Asaf both disagreed with me, they were much more polite in their disagreement.

@user170039 It seems you mean to imply that the user that had written the comment downvoted you because you flagged their comment.
However, given that the user had no way of knowing their comment was flagged, this seems like a unsubstantiated speculation based on a misconception how the site works.

@quid: I don't know how you came to that decision but I didn't mean that. Probably only the moderators of this site can know that the comment was flagged. In any case, I think that the user needs to be more polite.

@user170039 I see. So you believe that it was a moderator that downvoted your question?
If you do not believe this either please explain the remark: "Curiously enough, shortly after flagging this comment one of my question was downvoted without explanation (I don't know who downvoted it but I can guess)." In particular what is your guess and what is this guess based on.

@quid: How is this important to the point that I have raised in my first comment?

@user170039 I quoted part of your first comment.

user131753
But that's not the point for which the comment was written, I hope you understand that.

Why did you include information in your comment that you consider irrelevant?

user131753
Because, my guess was that someone actually participating on the post who read all my comments downvoted.

I included that information because

Who?
And why is it "Curiously enough" it happened "shortly after flagging"?
@user170039 Did you get cut off here? Or do you want to use an idiom?

user131753
Because the question was not active for quite some day.

This still does not quite explain the formulation.
I cannot help but feel you actually innted to do what I initially understood.

And shortly after falgging when I started expressing my opinions with Asaf, I got the unexplained downvote. Don't you think it's curious?

user131753
You can think anything, of course.

I think that instead of analyzing the relation of every sentences to others, it will be a good idea to think over the issue I raised in my first comment (if you want to think about it at all).

@user170039 was the flag already handled?

@user170039 One downvote means nothing. Relating it to flags is absurd. Nobody can know you flagged as rude (although I can imagine it's most often the addressee of a rude comment who flags). Although I suppose your scenario is conceivable, I suggest you move on under the assumption that it was a coincidence until you get more information warranting doubt towards this assumption.
