Q: when I run a jobscript, it is killed. why?

AnnyI am using EPS3 source code. Whenever I run a script, it gets killed. I do not understand why? Can anyone help me please?

wtf is EPS3? epson?

@Lucio Not that I know of..
@Rinzwind Prob.

8:06 PM
then she should have said ESC/P :+)

source code is immortal - can never be killed.

some questions tick all the wrong buttons in my head >:D

like "Do you really want to answer me? [NO][QUIT][CANCEL]"

like "Do you really want to answer me? [:-(][>:D][:-]"

8:23 PM
Cool - unity-mail notifies even when running GNOME classic.

grr. can't seem to find the right qt api for grabbing continuous audio and examining slices concurrently

gstreamer?

ha I got another answer worth of some upvotes >:D

@Takkat they have a simplified audio recording api in qtmobility. the part i can't find is save slice without stopping the recording.

@CallmeV hmmm cant help you there; not my cup of cola

8:27 PM
say, for example, to find word breaks based on "silence" so you can TTS with the google api without having to select when to stop recording

no idea either.

i'll figure it out or ask on SO
can't wait for the nexus7 to get here so i can see if the modified broadcom driver actually gets monitor mode and injection working. there are conflicting reports

wth shutter only takes screenshots of my wallpaper

are you using an oddball compositor?

what was the keyboard option tag again???
@CallmeV unity. it worked last time I made a shot :P

8:35 PM
shots never worked in my VMs but always on my bare metal.

<kbd> found it
grrr
now I need to use print screen and edit the picture :(

why?

cuz shutter does not work :(
this is an image made with shutter where I have this chat open :*
I like my dragon lady but not THAT much >:)

Boss key cant do better ;)

8:40 PM
seems ATI related.

now did I update my driver :P
I probaly have ... but i am using an amd 6650m
I did update the driver cuz I added my external display :P hmmm

gnome-screenshot not good enough?

@Takkat all the way at the end of that thread someone notes it happening on an intel card too
gets mildly territorial about loving ati/amd

<-- had a hard time some years ago with fglrx

nods

8:44 PM
@Takkat does whole desktop iirc?

whatever you like: whole screen, selection, window, timed shot

ah wait alt-printscreen
that will do for now :)

Shift + PrtScrn lets you select an area.

hmm all the upvoters went to bed >:D
4
me is in bed too >:D

my bed is my desk. does that count?

8:49 PM
ofcourse!

My bed is my castle.

question

the bed is the dog's castle, i just work there

is this correct--->
edit adds "install"

no

8:50 PM
did not think so but I started doubting

i can try it in a vm in a few minutes
but i'm pretty sure it's not

Hmmm they both seem to exist
So lets do a googlefight

apt-get --purge does not work. I think the edit is correct

fair enough. i couldn't get it to let me interrupt/not accept the eula on raring

8:52 PM
purge won >:D

purge != --purge

:D
I cheated ;)

YO
Did you understand what they want to do?

LO
:D

Can Ubuntu make code on OS or either with writing?
Or write the Desktop code in mobile with Ubuntu as Python?

8:57 PM
I have no idea what you're asking...

dunno >:D
I got confused

You confused me.

we are 1 confused bunch :=)

All bunch in 1

It's difficult to tell what is being asked here. This question is ambiguous, vague, incomplete, overly broad, or rhetorical and cannot be reasonably answered in its current form. For help clarifying this question so that it can be reopened, see the FAQ. <-- close-vote reason for this: askubuntu.com/questions/280822/…

8:59 PM
lol
@CallmeV if a mod sees you post that he might close the chat >:D

@Rinzwind don't you underestimate them? (a little at least?) :D

I think what was being asked was "Can you develop in pygi from a mobile", but I couldn't really say.

They edited something away...

@guntbert no I believe some are funny and would do that for fun >:D
we can dupe itwith this: askubuntu.com/questions/235369/…

They edited the phones part out.

9:03 PM
okay. whatever you want to do. in the original revision it was narq as far as i could tell. the edit completely changed the question

Still is NARQ imo

sure did and I agree with takkat

yeah. agreed. yes or no questions aren't really qa format either.

beddy bye here BBT

bye Takkat

2 hours later…
sorry for the noob question. Is it possible to upgrade from 11.10 to 12.10 through terminal ?
without upgrading to 12.04 and then running the command again

@Suhaib I don't think so.

11:25 PM
lol two votes already!

Q: Ubuntu 12.04 stalling after GRUB screen

John_BSince the last update, each time I start my laptop, 12.04 gets as far as the grub menu, then I get the black screen. Rebooting then starts the system. Its is happening too frequently to be ignored. Any solutions?

Dupe to the black screen question?

This is probably a duplicate.

That's what I was thinking.. but wasn't sure.

Just need to find the FIRST question
I also don't like those kind of questions, because I don't know if it should be closed because is very specific or if it's a duplicate or if it's a bug.

Exactly.
I was thinking maybe:

Q: My computer boots to a black screen, what options do I have to fix it?

Jorge CastroI am trying to boot Ubuntu on my computer. When I boot my computer it boots to a black screen. How can I fix this? Table of Contents: If you are trying to install Ubuntu If you have a dual boot system If an update or something else caused your problem

11:31 PM
@Seth Great choice, it's comunity wiki (so will never get outdated), and have great answers.

Yes.. Not sure that's the exact problem but doesn't hurt to try.

Well this question solves a lot of different problems, so there is a big chance to be right.

Yes there is..
I'll leave a comment.

If a question is CW it doesn't mean it won't be out of date
Whart I do is usually give it a once over when I dupe something to it

Once over?
@JorgeCastro Do you know if we have a question about installing Openstack?
1
Q: Error installing openstack, is there a beginners guide to installing openstack on ubuntu?

FeddersI am currently using the textbook "Openstack Cloud Computing Cookbook 2012" for a cloud computing class. Me and most of the class have not been able to get past the first chapter, as there is an error when trying to run a first instance at the beginning of chapter 1. This error is shown as the st...

Q: How do I install and deploy an OpenStack cloud?

Bryan AgeeI'd like to get a test cloud up and running in preparation for a possible deployment of 12.04. I messed with the UEC a bit, but have had a much harder time finding anything helpful as a primer for the new stack. There is generic documentation on Diablo, but there are likely to be a lot of pieces ...

Ah great.
I'll at least link it.

yeah
it's not a dupe
he needs to tell us the error, etc.
I can leave a comment

Ok great.
@JorgeCastro The question isn't about fixing the error, it's about getting a good book (IMO).

yeah but he can "Save" the question by editing it

Maybe.. Hopefully.

11:46 PM
if not we'll get back to it in a day or so
I usually try to give people 24 hours to fix up their stuff

That's a good practice.. How do you remember to come back to them though?

Make a note at Google Calendar ;)

I dunno, I spend like an hour a day+ on the site, I tend to just remember
but worse comes to worse, click the star to favorite it

Interesting.. Stars certainly get abused.
That is, not used the way they were meant to.

good night people :D (for those in Europe that is)
and good morning Americans :)
or afternoon
@Suhaib no. you need to go to 12.04 1st.
