@GeorgeEdison do you need a armhf build of nitroshare, I compiled a version to use on my raspberry pi, and cubieboard (because of no ppa's in debian, and missing things in ubuntu-ports for linaro)

I use my laptop with an external monitor which has speakers. When the monitor is attached through HDMI I can switch (using the GUI: Sound Setting --> Hardware) between the normal laptop audio output and the monitor output.
I repeat this procedure a lot of time and I started to wonder if I can a...
Or this weird problem I'm now experiencing that my laptop (yes, the ProBook 6550b) cannot access any host when connected to my Wifi-N accesspoint (which happens to be the same one used @ Zarafa) :)
Haha. yeah, well, while they're interesting to do research on, I think this site is not fit for bug-report-like questions or plain issues (problems) which can only be solved by step-by-step "helping hand" solutions. It will become ugly like this one: askubuntu.com/questions/237853/…
@gertvdijk true, but then again - it seems to be the policy to use AskUbuntu for this kind of thing according to Apport, since 12.04 is now considered "stable"...
@JourneymanGeek: yes, it's terrible. ATI still sucks, nVidia has issues and the supposedly-best-option-because-they're-so-open Intel is not that much better either. It makes me a little sad to be honest.
so you're saying copying with proper attribution to the original author is oke (I know it's ok from a legal point of view per the CC license) but this is not frowned upon here?
@iGadget Yup, but it's a Q&A site. Not all issues close to bug reports fit into the format. Most of the times this is way better on a discussion forum or a bug report. Anyway, it's just my thought.
@gertvdijk: Well... I kinda hate discussion forums (hard to find the useful posts between all the cruft), I believe AskUbuntu is much better equiped for problem solving / resolution providing. But there should some kind of 'convert this issue into a bug report' feature IMHO
@iGadget regarding Apport recommending Ask Ubuntu, the xorg maintainer fixed that issue. Apport no longer recommends AU for such things. The right venue is to file bug reports for any issue with graphics card or xorg. If you note that Apport is suggesting the user to use AU for any crash instances, please do file a bug report against Apport in Launchpad.net.
I'll just work on improving my Jedi Coding Skills over the next few decades and then by the time of Ubuntu 24.04 I'll have some wonderful patch ready ;)
@fossfreedom Let's hope so. I think it's rather ridiculous that I'm having all kinds of troubles connecting my Ubuntu system to other Linux based systems (i.e. Android devices using MTP, my NAS which has all kinds of issues when using NFS, Samba etc.)
@fossfreedom ah, marvelous. That's what I wanted to ask you - I noticed most of my embedded coverart was not 'seen' by the last version, so this has been addressed?
@iGadget if you have the blank cover symbol (the music icon) - then right click the coverart source and choose "download all covers". If you already have coverart for your albums, it will ignore those.
@iGadget highlight all the compilation albums - rightclick and choose properties - fill in the Album Artist with "Various Artists" - it will then collapse under one album cover.
@fossfreedom hmmm this gets me thinking - how hard would it be to implement a detection mechanism for duplicate covers and suggest filling in this value automatically for the user?
dangerous - lets say you have a compilation album called "greatest hits" - lots of compilation albums has that title - how do you figure out which track belongs to which album?
Sure, but you could prompt the user before proceeding. And perhaps add some intelligence i.e. when the tracks are in the same folder, there's a higher probability they're on the same album
One more question - how do I debug issues with embedded coverart? For example, one of the stacked items just shows no cover art (while the separate tracks did)
Yeah I wish would have coding skills so I could help out more... but unfortunately I'm just an average user with a vivid imagination ;)
@mojo706 how far into the installation process are you? I noticed a bogus 'processing' screen (which I still have to file a bug about) where you can simply click 'Next' to continue instantly. Maybe that's what's happening to you right now?
I use Ubuntu, With different Desktop enviroments.
I had KDE for a while and after a week, suddenly my login screen changed to the look of KDE. There is only one problem: in the Ubuntu login screen, your account name already is selected, but in KDE login screen it doesn't show up, you need to wri...

I have Google alerts set up for my name and recently came across this site, zqna.net, which is copying our questions & answers verbatim. My name is there, but I see no mention of Ask Ubuntu or Stack Exchange, etc. No links back to this site.
Is this authorised copying, or not?
There are a number of license-violating clones of Stack Exchange sites popping up that use SE's cc-wiki data without following our Creative Commons attribution terms. Those terms are linked at the bottom of every SE webpage, and are also included as a .txt file in every data dump we produce.

This is a question about editing the FAQ. This is not a good place to discuss whether or not we should allow EoL questions. We already have a meta question (actually, three) for that. (See below.)
It seems community consensus on the acceptability of question about EoL releases has shifted over t...
