ITS is right behind me. They had a mini heart attack when i hit enter xD

lol

ITS hates me here lol

We don't have T-Mobile up here.

Where are you?
@KazWolfe Can't imagine why....

He's in the Great Enemy to the North

12:03 AM
@Zacharee1 Canada.

I know he's in Canada, but that's not very helpful

He's at 127.0.0.1
Specific enough?

@NathanOsman you're in BC, aren't you

@NathanOsman If Wikipedia is to be trusted you have 3 providers covering 90% of Canadians. That's gotta be nice.

12:04 AM
@Zacharee1 yes.
@Seth I'm with the fourth :D

@Videonauth bakAWK!

@NathanOsman lol
Shaw?
@Videonauth what version of Ubuntu?

@NathanOsman T-Mobile is partnered with Simple Choice

@Seth 16.04

That is odd.

12:05 AM
i did run it in a VM tho

@Seth so are you :)

Thank you.

you're #1, but you're not #0

ew, reboots

uptime 14 days. AKA, the day I started working here

so you're doing a good job then
Big Bang Theory's on CBS

Sorry, I was interrupted for a minute there.
There are three major providers.

12:09 AM
Are you on Simple Choice?

what then

But there are two smaller ones with less coverage outside major cities and lower costs.
@Zacharee1 WIND Mobile.

still better than verizon i bet

12:11 AM
It's fine.

Anything's better than Verizon internationally

what happens if i kill upstart?

$39 / m for unlimited calling to North America, global SMS, and unlimited data.

i am on verizon and i agree it blows

@KazWolfe you downstop?

12:12 AM
@NathanOsman ...
favorite thing ever: SIGKILL

@edwinksl T-Mobile FTW. I'm on Verizon, but trying to get my family to switch

I can not keep track of signals

ah ok

I have google chrome but I don't know why I am using ie.

@HenryWHHack You're like people who use VIm. You just like torture.

IE and Windows 8?

@KazWolfe what do you use? ed?

@HenryWHHack You trying to learn batch??

12:28 AM
@edwinksl emacs/nano

EMACS

like a civilized person

@SQuirel PYTHON!

@KazWolfe vim is easy , just takes time learning it, like any other skill

@HenryWHHack Saw a batch file up there...

12:29 AM
any program that takes 10 minutes to quit is not fun.
or easy

@Zacharee1 8.1

@KazWolfe Minecraft takes a while to quit, but only because I keep playing

:q

@HenryWHHack no better

Lol.

12:30 AM
or that weird <kbd>h</kbd><kbd>j</kbd><kbd>k</kbd><kbd>l</kbd> stuff
How are those arrow keys?!

Lol.

I've been using vim for 3 years now mainly because I can't figure out how to leave ;P #GoTeamNano

@KazWolfe wat
Not this again
@HenryWHHack uh huh

How to get truly random data on a computer: Open VIm and ask the intern to quit.

@KazWolfe because vim was created way before keyboard was standarized on PCs

@KazWolfe or just set you loose

@edwinksl That is true.
Though swap Atom with emacs
Emacs > Atom / Nano > cat > magnetized needles > butterflies > Sublime Free > vim

where would nano be

right there

i feel like we should ping muru to get him to educate you on vim

How to shut up Vi fanboys: "I use EMACS because I'm willing to spare the resources for a usable editor"

12:34 AM
lol
what good are shortcuts when they take a lifetime to learn?

lol
all over the place

OS?

EMACS can function as a full OS

12:37 AM
rly

It's POSIX compliant and can do most everything

it also weighs 113MB.

@Seth I use EMACS because I'm willing to spare the resources for a good (and usable!) editor.

I prefer to keep the resources and have a good, usable editor ;)

A good editor should let me open the file and edit IMMEDIATELY. And then let me use extra features if I want
In VIm, editing is an extra feature

12:40 AM
I prefer Notepad.exe

lol

Still beats Vim

snap

The Burn Unit in the ICU is now full. Doctors are advising people to apply cold water to burned area in the meantime

I thought you were serious for a second

12:42 AM
In vim editing is available immediately.

It is not.

But then I remembered: it's you

@chaskes precisely.

I have to press I or some crap

saving, however

12:42 AM
you just don't know how to use vim ;)

@Zacharee1 I'm serious about some things.

sure....

lol

12:45 AM

@KazWolfe can you share how you set up that PS1

sure one sec

sick PS1
we should have PS1 sharing session

PS1?

Tell me how those fancy GUI editors work for you , when you ssh into a remote server with some old and outdated system

12:50 AM
nano

Almost any unix like system comes with vi or vim
nano is only on modern systems

each of my systems have different colors so I can tell them apart at a glance.

It was so peaceful while i was in China, now back to all the drama

Thank you

My best friend wants me to go to hospital tomorrow with her ( for baby checkup , she's pregnant )
And i don't wanna, because of my lower back pain

yeah if you guys have a cool PS1, share it!

So she proceeds to the usual routine of saying how bad i am

One could argue that purging vim-tiny and therefore the metapackage ubuntu-minimal is not the best idea.

eh. my system's done much worse]

@Serg What's up with your back

12:55 AM
@Serg friend, eh?

@chaskes was doing deadlift in middle school, took too much weight. Now almost every year i have lower back pain. Last year got pinched nerve so had to go to chiropractor.
@Zacharee1 yup, that's my best friend
used to like her, but because i don't qualify to her standards, i never became her bf, even though i do most of the bf type of things

@Serg Wow. I wish I had some good advice for you. That's tough. I also have a lot of lower back pain.

I already have reconsidered a lot of stuff
As for lower back, that's like forever. I'm screwed for life

On a happier note, did you ever look at the free Chinese language comics at Dark Horse?

Nope, i need to revisit it

1:09 AM
In the free section at digital.darkhorse.com . You may need to register

I've been watching tv series and movies though. letv. com is a good place for that

whoa. thanks.
I'm in Debian without flash so I'll have to watch a little later. :)

ew debian

I need to try debian at some point

What do you mean ew debian?

1:20 AM
Hi, severus

@JourneymanGeek You mean debian? Just use testing or unstable.

@Videonauth nice :) But still its not unlimited :P

ok was just a try

@chaskes true. Even testing is behind what I'm used toi

lemme try that

1:20 AM
did you source the .bashrc again after changing it ?

@SeverusTux @Videonauth what are you two doing ?

well, I use unstable @JourneymanGeek

Q: How to set unlimited scrolling on a TTY?

Severus TuxOn a TTY ( ctrl+alt+f1 to f6 ), I use Shift+page up to scroll up and Shift+page down to scroll down. But the problem is, the scrolling is limited to certain number of lines. How can I get unlimited scrolling on a TTY ?

I am trying to get unlimited scrolling on a TTY. Any quick hacks ?

I'll look into it. No ideas off the top of my head though

Q: 15.04 - Compiler can't find libswresample library

mattrickI'm currently trying to compile this teamspeak bot on Ubuntu 15.04. My issue is that when trying to compile it, I get the following error: CMake Error at /usr/share/cmake-3.0/Modules/FindPackageHandleStandardArgs.cmake:136 (message): Could NOT find FFmpeg (missing: SWRESAMPLE_LIBRARIES SWRES...

nice -.- so 5 people couldn't think or read

1:24 AM
I still don't see why it should be open

because it would be the same problem in 15.10 or 16.04 or 16.10 oh wait theat would then be OT again
applies as well for 14.04 12.04 etc

But do we know that?

its about how to compile
reading
thinking
then deciding
;) i even put a comment below that question why i didnt vote to close

I think missing libraries could have something to do with the version

well ill find out later today, because im to lazy right now to set up VM's to check out the procedure

1:27 AM
@Videonauth don't be lazy xD

@Serg How do I print numbers in descending order ?
Like ... `seq 000 999` prints 000 to 999 is different lines, Do you know any way to print from 999 to 000 ?

my guess: seq 999 000

@SeverusTux seq 000 999 | tac
$ seq 000 999 | tac | head
999
998
997
996
995
994
993
992
991
990

lol tac, brilliant name

:D Thanks, I was doing some for loop for that. tac... nice :D

1:29 AM
seq 999 -1 000
this can do too

wow ! thats perfect :D

@Videonauth nominated for reopening. Libraires can be installed via apt-get
$ apt-cache search swresample
libavresample-dev - FFmpeg compatibility library for resampling - development files
libavresample-ffmpeg2 - FFmpeg compatibility library for resampling - runtime files
libswresample-dev - FFmpeg library for audio resampling, rematrixing etc. - development files
libswresample-ffmpeg1 - FFmpeg library for audio resampling, rematrixing etc. - runtime files
Installing from source just requires finding out which libs are missing and installing them

Oh..my . :( , I can scroll only 141 lines on my TTY :(

@Serg yep thought of that

139 lines for me
also my cursor disappeared after i returned from tty
odd

1:34 AM
someone wants to defrag ext4 disk? askubuntu.com/questions/790809/fragmentation-of-files

new win user

how do i restart my freakin cursor ?

on it

@Serg defrag your HDD

@Serg

Q: How to restart only missing/invisible mouse pointer/cursor?

sdaauFor some reason, the mouse pointer on my Ubuntu 10.04 PC disappears after the computer is woken up from suspend. That PC is missing a keyboard, so I can fix this by logging via ssh, and issuing: sudo service gdm restart ... however, this basically restarts gnome, and will close any applicatio...

Or just try sudo service lightdm restart , it might help

1:38 AM
Still too close to call: google.ca/?ion=1&espv=2#q=britain+eu

@SeverusTux that did the trick ,thank you

:D
Oh... somebody answered my question :) (But I dont quite understand it :P )

pros need no cursors ;)

@SeverusTux removing and inserting psmouse module is what i needed , already gave that answer upgoat.

@NathanOsman this site seems to be the most accurate if you're really interested in it --> bbc.com/news/politics/eu_referendum/results

1:41 AM
@Kaz that question you linked to lol. "i don't want to hear i don't need to defrag" xD
I M U S T D E F R A G

yep

you normally don't need to defrag as often as you need to in windows, it takes a loooong looong time to get an ext4 drive badly fragmented

@Videonauth cool. That looks useful.

there is some similar from the guardian, but it is time wise a bit behind the bbc site
it will be a very close call i guess
and still too many votes not counted in

Yeah. I'm curious to hear what @Oli thinks.

1:48 AM
Does anyone know how to do this --askubuntu.com/a/790811/497359 ? If so, please tell me how to do it :)

@NathanOsman IMO the UK would regret it if they leave the EU, they are fairly dependent on the imports from gremany/france/spain etc. an exit would probably invoke import/export taxes for them

I had been thinking this was a kernel setting as well, but I don't know how to change it.

arch tuts work as far as long you not need to make changes in mkinitpcio which does not exist in ubuntu

whoa
That's SpaceX' Crew Dragon (in development).
They're almost ready for ground testing \o/

1:54 AM

but the link works

Image shows for me.

same

but not for me either

Hold on, lemme downvote ya

if you find something worth downvoting, sure
but that unsung hero badge xD
it's relevant
3.5 pages of zero-vote answers

I've not seen any of your answers , and besides i am not a type of person who downvotes for no reason
Anywho, that was a joke

i know
i responded srsly
does anyone have a data explorer query for answers to users who have never accepted and are low-rep?

@KazWolfe what are you planning to do with that?

2:10 AM
See what answers of mine were just silently lost
like 1-rep answers that were just ignored

i see you got a few accepted answers with 0 votes
OP must be sleeping on the job

i'm looking for the other way around -- I'm the only answer, low rep OP, OP has never accepted before, low votes

yeah plenty of people do that, pretty annoying since we can't know if the answer ever worked for the OP

There must be thousands, maybe tens of thousands overall

that's why i want a query

Can someone help please?
My SQL is rusty

@KazWolfe if mysql is rusty use postgresql

@Serg har har
Can I actually have some help please?

What do you need?

@Videonauth @edwinksl Thanks :) muru's answer solved my problem.

2:43 AM
@SeverusTux I'm afraid increasing scrolling in TTY is not a very easy task.I've been trying to mess with kernel parameters just now and nothing came out of it. I would suggest you use byobu or screen

@Serg I got 1600 lines :D

@Serg apparently just need to change one line in /etc/default/grub
so our tux now can scroll like mad

@edwinksl did that just now, i couldn't scroll at all

hmm

fbcon=scrollback:1024

2:44 AM
need a k
1024k

Lemme try, brb after reboot

@SeverusTux in muru we trust

:D :D yes
@Serg you need to restart. ( I did not check before restarting )
But it seems logical... edited /etc/default/grub , followed by sudo update-grub so.. next step is reboot :P . Or should it work without restart ?

Well, then . . .muru get's my upgoat

i am tempted to do the same

2:48 AM
I already did :)

3133 lines

@Serg I think there is some problem in your keyboard, you always type " upgoat "
:P

That's no problem , it's intentional
sort of a local joke

3:52 AM
@NathanOsman It is in my opinion more that they are kicking their own asses :)

Leaving is good for them.

This has to be prooven in the long run
they import loads of stuff from rest of europe for which they had no import/export taxes for, this will change then
and I am not so sure if they will benefit from raised costs for foodstuffs etc
the posh people may not care, but the rest will suffer

Oh they'll suffer all right. I think it may teach them a valuable lesson.

Its only sick for the outskirts of the Gb empire like Gibraltar

To be a dick or potentially go down with pains ? That's a question
