Well, you could use a Python back-end that uses SQLite...
I haven't worked with that yet, but Python all the things anyway.
@ParanoidPanda Which one?

Now if only there were tutorials for that
hey, I might be able to pass the PA permit test

whew

A: Ubuntu Touch - Unable to delete 5 pictures in on go

Jonathan Has anyone come across this issue before, where if you try to delete 5 or more pictures (after selecting them all together), on confirming the delete, the gallery crashed and will close down? I haven't experienced this issue. Is this a known bug or is there a workaround for it? I could...

Linode just doubled my RAM.

@ByteCommander NAA to the extreme

Definitely.
Who the heck upvoted this??

Maybe they were using my Tor nodes
which @Serg set up for me :p

You own a tor node?

7:06 PM
no
Serg joke

Aha.
I once played with the thought of running one, but then realized that my upload bandwidth is far too low.

heh
I did look up the silkroad onion address for idk why
probably on the NSA list now :p

silkroad?
Isn't that some online black market-like place?

The drug trafficking black market on the dark web?

^ that.
I've hit the return key instead of the apostrophe...

7:09 PM

Too bad.
Do they say why?

and darknet.se just doesn't exist

There is a fat bitty hamster on me right now eating me jumper... :D

7:12 PM
It did exist, I was active there on a few days during private beta, but then obviously forgot about it...

@ParanoidPanda o_O wat

@ParanoidPanda Any non-fat animals around?

user136984
@ByteCommander: No.

Fat wood pigeons, fat hamsters, fat pandas... You should keep your chocolate cake depots secret.

@ParanoidPanda wait you have a hamster?

user136984
7:13 PM
Yes, I also have lighting so must turn off...

gimme the hamster

Probably even your earthworms are obese. :-/

@ParanoidPanda had a chance to check out encryption in NitroShare yet?
Instructions for testing out TLS (encrypted transfers) with NitroShare are finally here: https://gist.github.com/nathan-osman/a3233f77c44ee66911823524a6ebe70e

It's that guy's only post here and he posted nearly the same on Super User as well, but both questions are about said Quickbook software. The shortened link seems to redirect to their homepage (or a good fake maybe?)

@ByteCommander shortened link, obvious scam site

@ByteCommander definitively spam
lands you on a page for a support service

Yes, after examining that linked page closer, I think so too. Definitely.

alas its the support site for the software in question but well what value does that answer have really ?

7:36 PM
@NathanOsman sweet

Can you guys try going to x-p-w.tk/cp.php and seeing what happens?

se a login page but took approx 15 seconds to show up

kk
don't care about times yet
just the general security
@Videonauth and if you log in with admin zaqxsw?
(obviously going to change that login)

well the next site was suprisingly fast to display ;)

well there's nothing there :p

7:40 PM
@Videonauth Not an official support page though. Also, shortened link, only posts ever, bad writing style, and the site has no WOT rating.

this is why i said spam

@ByteCommander u WOT m8?

I do.

sigh

It's a Firefox add-on that shows ratings for web sites.

7:42 PM
do you know the meme?

No.

sigh

[ SmokeDetector ] All of this user's posts are spam: user 557877 on askubuntu.com

user136984
@NathanOsman: I've been unable to start NitroShare...

@SmokeDetector I know. I told you so.

And why does the lighting only happen when I actually have my computer on?

@Videonauth o|

@ParanoidPanda lighting?

user136984
Yes... It knocked out some of my electronic devices in the past so I don't take any chances now and just have to switch everything off...

@ParanoidPanda Your negative aura.

user136984
:D

user136984

@ByteCommander: Perhaps it's just the Hamsters of Heaven are excited around me. :P

It fried the phone socket of my FritzBox once. Internet continued to work, luckily...

Are we talking about lightning?

user136984
I think my hamster is probably diabetic though... :(

user136984
@Zacharee1: Yes, sorry, that's what I meant... :D

ahh

7:48 PM
Well, can we please have this finally spam-flagged to death? askubuntu.com/a/787890/367990
Someone who still has 15k+ rep should protect the question as well.

pew pew

@Zacharee1 Your bullets are too small.

You should listen to Barack Obama. That guy knows what he is talking about.

PEW PEW

Luckily Eric Carvalho took out his mod bazooka and nuked it :D

I don't know why that guy wastes his delete votes on spam..
They don't do much.

While we have already warmed up the deletion guns, what about this one? askubuntu.com/a/787164/367990

Already flagged

@EricCarvalho you should flag stuff like this as spam instead of (or at least along with) voting to delete it. That will get it deleted faster and harder :)

No idea how that managed to get 2 upvotes though.

7:53 PM
@ByteCommander My Tor nodes. I thought we went through this
:p

@ByteCommander da bleep?!

:)

beep bop.
What?

7:57 PM
Reminds me of CaH.
I had that as white card yesterday.

lol
Anyone know what the inverse of INSERT INTO is for MySQL?

PULL OUT maybe?
(joke, just another reference to CaH ;D )

lol
phew
got rid of the old credentials

8:23 PM
@ByteCommander you not like me, are you ? ;)

@Zacharee1 que? what do you mean by "inverse"?

There's INSERT INTO, but no direct translation for DELETE FROM
I figured it out though

@Videonauth What do you mean?

well your latest comment ;) just wait for the first people to down-vote my answer
I answered with the first solution which came to my mind

I'm not saying it's wrong, I just say that in general, using sudo should be preferred over entering a root shell (no matter whether using sudo su, sudo -i, ...). And that's a fact.

8:34 PM
well thats o.k., I noted that, well nvm, you might not know why i was saying that

Now I think I don't know any more what you're trying to say. You can talk openly to me, what's wrong?

nothing with you and nothing i want to say in here
you'll get a mail in a few

Huh?
Why do you have my mail address?

do i need to have it ? ;)
no used contact this user on launchpad
,)

Oh... That PGP key...
Well...

8:46 PM
unless you used a fake adress there you should get a mail
btw your email showing public as well on launchpad

Wait, you can send messages to Launchpad accounts?
O.O
>.<
...
must fix that...

there is that little button sayign contact this user
you can hide your personal mail adress but you cant hide that button
but you should hide your email adress, it is under the 'change details'
no worries just wanted to explain to you outside of chat wont send more :)
but you should really hide your email adress on your LP page

Well, I thought I had it configured like that.

np now you have

Anyway, it's hidden now and I also changed that boring icon.
Do you use tox btw?
That would be easier to chat in private.

8:58 PM
is it in the repos ?
wanted to install it anyways

It's a private repo, let me find the instructions link...
No, stop @Videonauth !
That repository is the official one, but not well maintained.
There's one with community builds that updates more often...
This is what I use @Videonauth software.opensuse.org/…
BRB
The tox.chat repo I first showed you has no 16.04 packages.

ah ok
well now i have tox ;)
btw the mail i have send you is no fake address

Q: Setup RHEL 7 to PXE boot Ubuntu netboot

EekfonkyI'm looking to learn how to setup a RHEL 7 VM instance to PXE boot Ubuntu (and possibly other distros). The VM will be created by the network team at work. They don't have time or knowledge to setup a PXE Linux system to boot Ubuntu though, and I have to deploy dozens of Ubuntu builds. So I'd lik...

let's just say i have slept 24 hours once before...
it was extremely disorientating

well then the only thing i can do is flag for mod attention

i gonna flag too

10:15 PM
well hopefully our flags not get declined now

@Videonauth rolled back the vandalism edits on both Q and A and left a comment.

yep i saw that
i guess he figured out that he cant delete a question which has a certain age
or his account got compromised who knows

@Videonauth you have a rather high number of flags

? you mean what i have flagged ?

yeah almost 700 helpful flags
in 2 months
that's insane

10:25 PM

Can we please get askubuntu.com/q/787936/367990 reopened? I edited it and was just about to answer...
You can close/delete askubuntu.com/q/787935/367990 instead.

@Byte wow your edit made a dramatic difference
the question is actually answerable now

Well, it seems not to reopen now, so I'm going to bed. Good night and see you tomorrow. o/

user136984
Goodnight! :)

10:39 PM
good night

Can mods give special permission to users to answer protected questions?

Not sure but why should they ?

Someone from SO had another answer to my NVIDIA Q&A, but only has the 101 bonus rep and hasn't actually earned rep here

Q: New Linux User, Where do I begin and how do I master the OS

VetI am fairly new to the Linux OS. I'm being asked to learn the OS (Ubuntu & Fedora) for computational science purposes. The problem isn't getting involved or into the OS, but I don't exactly know what path to take in terms of delving deep. So far I've played around with the Terminal (e.g. issuing ...

aaaaaaaah
wai u no replace \n with <br> u stupid js

@ParanoidPanda how come it won't start? Are you using the PPA?

11:47 PM
Anyone know JS?

I do-ish

Would you have any idea why var replaced = data.replace(/\n/g, '<br />'); isn't actually replacing \n with <br /> from data?

Hrm, it worked fine for me
Do you have a paste of the code?

well
it's a whole PHP, Ajax, JQuery, JS, HTML thingy

Well, can you show me the JS right around that statement?

11:55 PM
yeah hang on
setInterval(function() {
                                            $.get("php/bungeelog.php", function(data, status) {
                                                var d = JSON.str
                                                var replaced = data.replace(/\n/g, '<br />');
                                                document.getElementById("logb").innerHTML = replaced;
                                                var objDiv = document.getElementById("logb");
                                                objDiv.scrollTop = objDiv.scrollHeight;

Oh, I see your issue
Well, maybe

go ahead

var d = JSON.str <-- try changing to var data = JSON.str
var replaced = data.replace(/\n/g, '<br />');
Maybe

Ignore that
it was an unfinished snippet
unused

Ah, right
Try putting a console.log(data) statement at the top of the $.get func

11:57 PM
Supposed to be JSON.stringify(data); :p
No, I get data, but it uses \n between lines, which don't break in HTML
$resp in the PHP does have the output enclosed in quotes, so I wonder if that's anything

Okay, but can you do that and send me a screenshot/copypaste of it?
It might be that the data you're receiving isn't right
