I just installed Ubuntu 14.04 MATE on a Dell 11 Chromebook, and since booting for the first time, the touchpad has stopped responding unless I use the pad of my finger.
Before wiping the SSD and installing MATE I had been running Ubuntu XFCE alongside Chrome OS using Chrouton, and the touchpad ...
I want to run a script that changes the mapping of my keyboard from the startup applications. The script is in my home folder and it has permissions 755.
I've created a new entry in System -> Preferences -> Startup Applications and tried the following commands:
/bin/bash /home/myuser/myscript.sh...
I have just done a fresh install of Ubuntu 15.04 Server. After I log in, I see the dash and after a while just a black screen with the cursor on it. I have updated my nvidia drivers (sudo apt-get install nvidia-current) but I still have the same problems. I've also removed Unity and tried with Gn...
I add a white list filter by mistake to my wifi modem router, so I want to change mac address to that IP. I run this command:

ifconfig wlan0 hw ether xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx
ifconfig wlan0 up
and
sudo macchanger --mac=xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx wlan0
My mac changed successfully, but s...
@Mateo One thing that I can't understand in that article to fix it. He says to search for one line and ask to replace only that line, but after he ask to paste all that code. It's a little confuse.

If I execute the command declare I get a very long output of what looks like some sort of script, what is this?
@ParanoidPanda "If no names are given, then `declare' will display the values of variables instead. " ss64.com/bash/declare.html

@Mateo: So why does export -n give lots of things with declare -x, is that because it is displaying all variables where no name is given, or does it have a different purpose?
so it is probally something else, maybe facebook changed stuff and it is broke again, either way, if i look on gwibbers site, the last post is from 2010 - I would say it is "unmaintained" I would search for alternatives
@ParanoidPanda still trying to fix your cat, or is this just curiosity

Make a backup:
cp /usr/bin/guake ~/Desktop/
open guake with text editor
gksu gedit /usr/bin/guake
Then search for the line that looks like this: width = 100 - this is how the code around it looks like:

height = self.client.get_int(KEY('/general/window_he...
My Ubuntu 14.04 on Thinkpad T400 just rebooted automatically.
Before that,
my screen just became unresponsive.
My memory and swap were mostly used, mainly by webpages opened in Chrome and some pdf software.
The cpu and hard drive didn't feel hot. At least shortly before the screen became u...
Ahhhh. Think a route is the point you hit with a url, and it renders the png - returning it with the appropriate header for mimetype as a binary string.
gmusicbrowser doesn't start. I am running Ubuntu 14.04 64bits. In the terminal, I get the following error:

@A.B. You can do it by running it with a one song target or making a playlist that contains only one song, but I'ld really like a button. If the devs are doing something else, there are lots of more awesome things they could be doing - and I'ld rather just leave them alone. I'm moving towards amarok anyway with the upcoming swap to LXQt and a Qt based media player.
I have some scripts setup that I would like a master script to call based on a files appearance in a directory. Basically I have what's show below.
Script A uses file a
Script B uses file b
Command C uses file c
I would like to have a master script that looks for file a and if it's there...

Just published another blog entry on calculating Factorials using recursion in Java, although mostly using the Java and the Factorials as an example to help better explain recursion. Here it is, what do you guys think? :)
I am trying to install Ubuntu 14 on a MeegoPad device. MeegoPad has Windows 8.1 pre-installed. Through the BIOS, I can change the boot priority between Windows 8.1 and UEFI. Setting UEFI as primary boot, and copying an Ubuntu image to the SD flash card, the UEFI shell appeared:
