Q: Dell 11 Ubuntu MATE touchpad problem: reacts to pad of finger, but not tip

Jonathan CoxI just installed Ubuntu 14.04 MATE on a Dell 11 Chromebook, and since booting for the first time, the touchpad has stopped responding unless I use the pad of my finger. Before wiping the SSD and installing MATE I had been running Ubuntu XFCE alongside Chrome OS using Chrouton, and the touchpad ...

@A.B. Good morning!

I have with my son muck out our guinea pigs. =\
o_O

@A.B. I have to muck out our Guinea pigs together with my son...
(is a better sentence construction)
And you shouldn't muck them out: just put chicken wire around all of your grass and have them mow the lawn...
>:)
Or all around your garden and all your flowers.
Or just all around your garden en have them eat the flowers too!
:D

@Fabby Yes, I should do that. :)
chicken wire and all is good.

@Fabby well, Ubuntu has only clients by default, servers have to be installed for both ssh and telnet , isn't that right ?

11:13 AM
You're not going to install a telnet server on your machine are you???
That's good for a router, but stick to ssh on your machine!

@Fabby I've already installed it . It's just for playing arround, I'm not gonna leave it permanently there =)

@Mateo One thing that I can't understand in that article to fix it. He says to search for one line and ask to replace only that line, but after he ask to paste all that code. It's a little confuse.

user136984
If I execute the command declare I get a very long output of what looks like some sort of script, what is this?

@AndréMarinho so yeah, probally delete the line and replace it with that block of code
so exchanging one line for those 4

@Mateo But, will not be a conflict with the other lines of the block?

he even has a picture of what it looks like after

@Mateo Yes, and by the picture, looks like he replaced the entire block, doesn't. This what makes me confuse.

1:28 PM
just more lines where one was i think
@ParanoidPanda "If no names are given, then `declare' will display the values of variables instead. " ss64.com/bash/declare.html

user136984
@Mateo: So why does export -n give lots of things with declare -x, is that because it is displaying all variables where no name is given, or does it have a different purpose?

@Mateo By the way, it seems that the only difference to the original block is put the "Unknown"

@AndréMarinho oh, yours must have the patch already then... the bug status does say "fix released"...

@Mateo And why still not works?

so it is probally something else, maybe facebook changed stuff and it is broke again, either way, if i look on gwibbers site, the last post is from 2010 - I would say it is "unmaintained" I would search for alternatives
@ParanoidPanda still trying to fix your cat, or is this just curiosity

1:36 PM

@A.B. You can do it by running it with a one song target or making a playlist that contains only one song, but I'ld really like a button. If the devs are doing something else, there are lots of more awesome things they could be doing - and I'ld rather just leave them alone. I'm moving towards amarok anyway with the upcoming swap to LXQt and a Qt based media player.
