WOO! I finally have capitalization of each word (to fix a strange case where wikipedia has blank pages for uncapitalized variants...)

:D

yikes that took a bit...
so now I just need to incorporate the wikipedia search into the other scope
so that should hit most the missing authors and some books for pictures

Q: Which distro to switch to (laptop)

DariaIsNotHereI switched to Linux Ubuntu 14.04 from Windows 8.1 about a month ago because I wanted to get more out of my laptop (Lenovo Flex 2). I have been trying to either solve or ignore some issues that I have encountered, however, by now I am contemplating returning to Windows, whuch I really do not want ...

@A.B. Not sure how real that was. I wasn't there, but people told me. I still don't quite know the details. And no worries. I am alright. But last whole day I was staying home feeling like crap. I basically poisoned myself with nicotine quite a lot.
@NathanOsman bit how ? a rogue answer there ?

No, the answer is great.
I just didn't realize that was the problem.
I was getting a weird error from Bash about not being able to find a program.
...turns out it was caching the path to the executable in /usr/bin but the file now resides in /usr/local/bin.

5:24 AM
Yeah, it's one of those issues that are totally basic but it escapes attention. Happens to the best of us

P.S. something cool will happen if you say "hi everyone" here.

@ParanoidPanda please don't use code from an answer for the same question in my answer. I got a downvote. http://askubuntu.com/a/651606/367165

hi everyone

@Serg Hello.

@GeorgetheDev hello

Yup :)

Not for me :(

@Serg Unlike last time, he won't reply to messages he doesn't recognize.

lol what does he reply do ? do we have a man page for George :) ?

5:36 AM
He'll only respond to someone saying "hello/hi..." and asking him for the current time.
That one you need to directly address him :)

@GeorgetheDev what's the time ?

@Serg It is currently Wed, 29 Jul 2015 05:36:51 GMT.

@GeorgetheDev thank you

Anybody here worked with Zorin OS before? It's Ubuntu based!
I downloaded the Zorin OS Lite, installed it, but I get the Windows 2000 look, and an option to change to the Mac Os X look, I want the Windows 7 look!

An OS named after a bond villan?

9:23 AM
@blade19899 Had it installed for a week, then switched to Ubuntu Utopic! :)

@ByteCommander I installed it for him, now trying to make everything look like Windows as much as possible.

As I said, I only had it for a week and it did not please me. Then I discovered Ubuntu and Zorin had to free up HDD space...

Q: Tag Warnings on Ask Ubuntu

Thomas OrozcoSome time ago, we introduced "just in time" tag warnings on Stack Overflow. These warnings are meant to provide users with just-in-time information to help them avoid common mistakes in the tag they're using (e.g. SQL questions should mention the engine they use). Here's what they look like: ...

@ParanoidPanda if you move your mouse at the bottom of your screen and wait some seconds, the notification area should be displayed. In this area are your app indicators. Or upgrade to 3.16. In this version you would have a little arrow in the bottom left corner to open the app indicator panel. GNOME 3.16 is great. Do you trust me? ;)
@Fabby he, old boy :)

user136984
@A.B.: Nope, I see nothing... I read an article about Gnome 3.16, and they said that it just missed being put into Ubuntu 15.04 because it was released too late... They also said that it would be a real danger to upgrade to 3.16 because it isn't that stable. Would they have said that there was a danger with it anyway even if they had put it in 15.04?

@ParanoidPanda only an idea. Stop docky and try it again

user136984
3:32 PM
Ok, nope, still not working...

@A.B. Grumble, grumble... Get off my lawn! ;-)

@ParanoidPanda I have no idea. I use 3.16 for weeks and I have no problems. But I have GNOME Ubuntu installed.
@Fabby :P

user136984
@A.B.: They said that installing it could be really dangerous because it was not tested as well as 3.14, would they have said the same about upgrading to 15.04 if they had put it into that release? If so, I'll get it...

I am still at GNOME Shell 3.12.2
