Hello all

@AmithKK Hi.

4:10 PM
hi

@SirCharlo i'm waiting for a download to finish
Hey @AmithKK, @RolandTaylor is quite upset with you.

hey, anyone try out the office '13 preview?
i wanted to but we have xp at work

back
Restarting firefox

and it wont install on the windows 8 consumer preview

@msPeachy Yeah

4:12 PM
Windows is off-topic. You are banished.

Sorry :D
I didn't mean it in that way

:O
falls on side and moans

@RolandTaylor welcome back

Thanks :D

@AmithKK I know...he'll forgive you sooner than you think

4:13 PM
-_-

@RolandTaylor :o

@msPeachy he said he was sorry and then decided to rub it in

lol, i know, he's a little immature
he'll learn

I have one old answer that's deleted. Can some mod (just for future reference) tell me the reason for deletion?

sure you didnt delete it yourself...?
i know i've deleted quite a few answers of mine which were dwarfed (and where my answer was included in someone else's answer, and where my answers get no votes)

4:21 PM
Yes. I am trying to see it, and I cannot even see one with the faint red highlight.

what was the question?
Maybe I can see the answer and tell you why?

@RolandTaylor why is it that we're the only two who answered this meta.askubuntu.com/questions/3713/… on meta?

@RolandTaylor I'm looking for it now...

@msPeachy we must be the only ones bold enough O_o?

:P i guess

4:28 PM
@RolandTaylor The question was removed, apparently. Not sure why I lost 10 rep for that, though...

if the question was deleted, the answer will be deleted as well, i think

@ObsessiveFOSS if you got an upvote from the answer
and the question was purged, the answer goes away too

so you've "lost" that upvote

That's pretty much it :)

4:30 PM
i got 15 rep on a question i posted but I deleted it since no one was able to answer it, i didn't mind losing the rep

Wondering if I should send a Written Apology to Roland

I'm just paranoid and think that something was hacked over a sudden loss of rep, favorites, disk space, etc.

well...
LUNCHTIME
I MUST DEVOUR THE FOOD!
where to go...

Enjoy devouring the food milord
@ObsessiveFOSS i think if the answer has been online for a quite a long time, the rep gained will be retained even if the questions got deleted...am i right? or not?

It's been on for a while... but I still lost the rep.

4:37 PM
I see, well I remember @jokerdino telling me something about this, i believe he said it must be on for at least 60 days

BBT
Good Night

@AmithKK night night, be good...sleep tight

@AmithKK you have to apologize to @msPeachy as well
I think you know why
@GeorgeEdison oi

/me whispers @RolandTaylor why me?

I would explain, but it's probably best I do not.
Suffice to say the "joke" partly included you.

4:41 PM
oh okay, i'll ask about it some other time
he asked me earlier, if I was a "female"

Yes... you can put two and two together
as the saying goes
silly joke that's so not true and so not funny

yeah, i see, that's why dino goes like this, clue:Roland
was that the "concert" you were referring to?

yeah
working in concert meaning: working together

duet

yeah
aotguhoisgh I feel my old negativity creeping up on me :/

4:48 PM
I'm hoping Archie doesn't realize one can create multiple accounts right now...

@RolandTaylor aotguhoisgh? they didn't mean it, and as for me, i didn't mind really

well it's other things outside of this room, this site, this... stuff
don't worry about it
thinking out loud - bad habit

@RolandTaylor oh things will turn out great for you, no worries
@ObsessiveFOSS oh he's too imbecile to realize that, but not for long though :(

hey hey be nice now

sorry, i am nice to nice people

4:52 PM
@ObsessiveFOSS even if he does, we'll be here to ban him.

dont forget the golden rule :)

I never forget THE rule
Need to sleep now, good night everyone.
Good night @RolandTaylor

@msPeachy good night ^_^

download over ^^

Will Ubuntu run smooth on my 2012 MacBook Air? http://askubuntu.com/questions/165158/will-ubuntu-run-smooth-on-my-2012-macbook-air?atw=1 #mac

4:58 PM
@TheInterrupter no.

All of the MyISAM tables in the database have now been converted to InnoDB.

I don't use MyISAM anymore. However, it keeps me from doing fulltext searches without compiling MySQL5.6 from source.
Is this not an answer?

Is @BigRich's answer on askubuntu.com/questions/157741/… not an answer as it links to itself?

@LordofTime: I implemented your suggestion - app listings on my site now mention the license.

@ObsessiveFOSS he meant this: askubuntu.com/questions/131912/…

@ObsessiveFOSS it links to this answer: askubuntu.com/a/165194/10616
@GeorgeEdison link?

Now, it's fixed.

5:19 PM
@GeorgeEdison nice. does this have a license, or no? it doesnt have one listed.
("No License" works :P)

It's closed source.

i see
(i have to ask though :P)

Oh great - the collation for the entire database is wrong.

hey @George, who's the Debian maintainer for stackapplet?

Luke Faraone.

5:23 PM
mind if i drop him an email? the package isnt lintian clean
and the newer version should be packaged

Which one isn't Lintian clean?
The one in the PPA or the one in the archives?

the one in the archives
(its why i said Debian maintainer and not PPA maintainer)

@GeorgeEdison i'm not on the development team, nor do i want to be. but do you want to set up a bugs team for stackapplet, such that those're people that help handle the bugs? already has the ubuntu-side bugs logged with bugcontrolepicosity
so you can subscribe that bugs team right to the ubuntu-side bug notifications?

Sure.

5:30 PM

Good night all

@GeorgeEdison lemme know when you set up the bugs team, feel free to add me to that if you want, i see the bugs regardless :P
bug subscriptions ftw

you'll have to subscribe them yourself, or bump me up to admin on the team
only admins can subscribe a team to the bugs in ubuntu
(for a package)
(and even then, private crash bugs are something only i'd really see)

I have no idea what I need to do next.

i'll give you the link standby

5:33 PM
I've created the team, but I don't know how to subscribe it to anything.

okay, if you can bump me to admin in the team i'll subscribe it
/me is scanning for bugs right now anyways

Okay.

you may wnat to poke your dev team to join the bugs managers team (for the people who really handle bugs)
you, and probably a few others
/me sees god powers on bugs anyways

Okay, you're an admin.

LOL BUG TIMEOUTS ARE FUN </SARCASM>

5:35 PM
Aight.

@George did this go anywhere?
done
the team's subscribed
feel free to put me back to approved if you want
(also have some of the devs subscribe to bug managers, or subscribe the devs team as a subteam of the bug managers)
(again, either way, ubuntu bugs i see)
lol @ oldbugs xD @george: this
oh geez, you have a lot of old bugs :/

Yeah :)

Bug supervisor:Nathan Osman
yep you are the bug supervisor
your bugs managers team could be the supervisor too :P
notices another nginx bug
DAMN IT
NOT ANOTHER ONE
seriously, people keep thinking failed configs of their own are bugs
'tis an issue of PEBKAC!
takes a deep breath
okay, enough with bugs today
time to burn the evil posts here :P

@GeorgeEdison i have an idea what you can use for the bugs managers team's image. take the development team's image, and throw a little orange bug on it :P
@GeorgeEdison i invited the "dev team" to the bugs managers team, so they would be able to get bug subscriptions (if you approve them to join)
there might be an email

Q: Where are the logs for the serial port (power save modes, specifically)

BorrajaXI'm running a system with Ubuntu 10.10 (pretty old, I know, but it has to be that one), with all its packages updated to the latest version supported (the distribution is not supported anymore so, to say so, "I've got the lastest Ubuntu 10.10 available") I have a very strange issue with a USB Mo...

Q: How can I improve overall system performance?

Decio LiraWhat are your tips for improving overall system performance on ubuntu? A: Rename directories via command line

Devi patelwe can rename files using ren or rename consider we have a file i f: directory named ado.txt and we wants to rename it to net.txt go to cmd 1:f:>ren "ado.txt" "net.txt" press enter it should work make sure file is not in use by other processes 2:we can not rename a folder using ren or rename.

What to do?

Downvote?

There is a rename but it works differently and there is some ren commands in some non-standard packages (dunno what they do though)

Yes, but they are not pre-installed, and post does not state to install any packages.

@ObsessiveFOSS Wanted to be sure that it refers to win term before I acted

I hope this isn't me.
