Yeah that looks pretty awesome

Jon
:D

do you have a devlog?

Jon
alright.. calling it a day.. family time
not really, but I need to get one.
well, I have one
jgallant.com
But I need to publish to it more

9:03 PM
word, i tried that right after i asked :)
i wanted to know whatthe game was all about

Jon
yeah, i haven't been posting details about the game yet
Just some tech demos
oops

Pip
9:19 PM
Cool!
@Jon looks fantastic

9:43 PM
@Pip I think @IcyDefiance recently linked to a reddit post saying it's a scam.

Pip
It actually isn't @Lokkij
Case was not theirs, publicly stated by person who is making those

@Pip it is though. They are using off the shelf existing hardware from China

Pip
Also, the company in China that is manufacturing those is also selling them, as it's open-source, but only in China
@AttackingHobo ^
@AttackingHobo nice, btw

Jon
@AttackingHobo how long does it take for you to set something like that up?

9:49 PM
@AttackingHobo i would like to see thin edges on your cubes, the picture is too perfect when everything settles down. i especially thought that about the eye picture

Thanks. @pip Gonna render a HQ version tonight.
@Jon <1 hour total including render time

@AttackingHobo do it

Pip
nice

Jon
cool

I was rendering another one last night but it didn't finish in time

Pip
9:50 PM
Alright, I'm off for tonight
Gotta go finish some homework then got stuff to do :)

@SethBattin, oh you want to see the corners and shading?

Jon
yeah i need to break also, lol

@AttackingHobo just, something to make them still look like cubes, even after they form the picture. WIth the eye picture, it just sort of looked like different bits of a picture moving into place instead of objects settling

@SethBattin I purposely made it shadeless for the eye picture.

ah, sure
i thought that was really cool, but the cube-yness was lost

9:52 PM
yeah. that was the point
I am going to do one with no gaps
so its 100% the same as the target image

ah, well...could the edges and shading be present initially and fade out, or something like that?

yeah Ill try that. make them normal shaded and then fade to emit only

cool
it's a totally awesome system you've built

@SethBattin thanks. I didn't invent the technique though
@DwarfSlice if an article ever needed some gifs that was it.

9:59 PM
@DwarfSlice is that your game?

I don't make games, I just talk about them.

:)
like GDSE chat!

1 hour later…
11:17 PM
Freaky
I enabled stereoscopic in the windows resolution thingy.
Automatically makes directx games stereoscopic apparently :P

But did you put on your glasses to see if it was the desired effect?

I doubt the ORdk2 works with red/blue shifting :P
