@Chris when I asked that, I had just seen a question migrated to health.SE. When I saw that question's history, the last revision was "post locked by community". What does that exactly mean?
@theforestecologist to me it seems the questions getting highest votes are actually the questions that everybody has and can connect to. Like, this was the question I (honestly) enjoyed the most while answering, but it doesn't even come in my top 20 by votes.
On the other hand, this one seemed to me just another waste of time (kinda, not really), but somehow, its #1 by votes! :P

Hello ..

@Ramanujan I think I know you (if only you're the real one) ;)

8:12 AM
@another'Homosapien', real one means? <the real Srinivasa Ramanujan is dead, isn't it/

@Ramanujan obviously, it was a joke man :P

@another'Homosapien', Actually I need help with some bio ques., could you please help me?

@Ramanujan if they're like rapidfire ones (and, obviously, related to my field), you can ask them here. If they are like big explanations, you are most welcome at the main site.

@another'Homosapien', they aren't big and doesn't require long explanation

@Ramanujan go on then, if I can't answer them, someone else will surely do :)

8:18 AM
@another'Homosapien', why is the reduction process necessary in meiosis cell division?

to make chromosome number half; 2n->n; diploid to haploid
post them all here at once, I can't keep answering them one by one

@another'Homosapien', what is the significance, 2n---n
@another'Homosapien', Q2. What is the role of mitosis cell division in the reproduction of amoeba?
Q3. Which hormone balances the calcium level in bone?(Calcitonin or Parathormone)?
Q3. The number of chromosomes should be haploid in each generation of sexually reproducing organism, clarify by giving the example of human cell
@another'Homosapien', I have posted all 4

@Ramanujan haploid cells are mostly gametes and required for reproduction. For more details, just google "significance of meiosis". 2. amoeba mostly reproduce asexually, so mitosis is also like reproduction for them
3. calcitonin and parathormone are counterparts of each other, so both together 'balance' calcium level. Have a look here
@Ramanujan thats a long question, short answer would be, umm, sperm and ovum maybe?
I am sure I'm gonna be boycotted by the mods for helping in homework question :(

@another'Homosapien', actually they aren't the homework questions. They are the board examination questions

@another'Homosapien' That depends on the question, that's why I was asking for the exakt question. In general it means that the question cannot be changed by the user which asked it. This is done to migrated questions to avoid changes in the community where it was migrated from.

@Jason here? O.O
Hey peeps
Long time no chat

3:00 PM
@M.A.R. You, PhMgBr?

3:23 PM
@M.A.R. What

@JasonC What
@another'Homosapien' Yep

@M.A.R. Ah, welcome back! I'd been waiting for you ;)

@another'Homosapien' Who're you? Who were you?

@M.A.R. I trekked all the way from nav bar city, through the inbox pass, across the chat server wastelands, all the way to this room, just for that?
Pfft.

@M.A.R. leave that, but I know you know me unless...you had an accident?

3:34 PM
@JasonC Would it have made more sense if I insulted you instead? That would give a lot of people a better reason
@another'Homosapien' Well I don't remember what I ate yesterday for lunch
I only remember a Tanmath guy from Bio.SE

Battling wild http headers, narrowly escaping the swamps of cache, I even made friends with a travelling dns request along the way.

And WYSIWYG and MadSci
@JasonC Quick, write a poem

(Tragically, the name lookup failed. I'll miss you, buddy.)

A poem is like pooping your thoughts so you return back to normal

Then you don't remember me, coz I didn't change name

3:36 PM
Lol!

@another'Homosapien' Maybe you changed avatar
I remember pics better than names

@M.A.R. name it Jason in Cyberland or something
@M.A.R. I did when you were absent from here, but returned to original soon

That reminds me, I should change my avatar
Which chemical to be . . .

Well, I'm writing an answer now, so TTYL :)

\o

3:38 PM
I think chlorophyll this time
@M.A.R. Huh?

@another'Homosapien' \o is waving hands
@another'Homosapien' Nah, Jan over at Chem is already chlorophyll

oh!
so heme?
or maybe dopamine?

@M.A.R. possible inspiration: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/…

@JasonC I think he wants compounds with unusual structures
@M.A.R. and that reminds me of proline :P
and cocaine :D

@JasonC Huh, why are those names weird?

3:42 PM
\o \o \o

Don't ask me ask wikipedia, i'm just the messenger

The IUPAC name of vitamin B-12 is what's weird.

@M.A.R. and the structure is too
oops I wasn't supposed to return
\o

You can be b12
Actually i have to give my cat his biweekly b12 shot today.
It might be hard to pack the whole thing in a tiny avatar though.

@JasonC Yeah, it's look like a black packet of chips
I'm thinking of a gold complex
Or maybe just stick to some good ol' organic compounds

4:01 PM
@M.A.R. you could go classic with atp or glucose or something
How about a dioxin

@JasonC ''Toxicological chemistry of chemicals'' is a terrible title
2
But I already considered a compound :(
It'll be a toxin next time

4:19 PM
@M.A.R. what is it? any surprise?

@another'Homosapien' Nah, but the prize is two upvotes if you guess what it is correctly

okay, just one hint...is it from the ones me and jason suggested
I don't mean the links :P

@another'Homosapien' No

gosh then its difficult

But it's kinda classic as Jason said

4:24 PM
I demand at least 10 upvotes

Generic

no bargain...10 upvotes?
I have some (non-virtual) reputation

@another'Homosapien' 10 upvotes would be serially reversed >:)
So I could easily accept, and end up giving you nothing

I don't think so. Only yesterday I received +200 from (hopefully) a single person, and the final repo is still maintained

Then the reversal script hasn't done its job yet
Or it wasn't one person

4:29 PM
how are you so sure? is it written in site policy?

@another'Homosapien' No, 20 upvotes is way too much not to be caught
I've heard cases of 4 upvotes being caught

its 19
and all one different answers
within an hour

@M.A.R. Yeah, "Toxicological chemistry of toxic chemicals" would be way better.

@another'Homosapien' Wow, it will definitely be reversed

4:31 PM
Clear cache, new avatar is now live

@M.A.R. I know what it is! I know what it is!

but you didn't even let me try

Hmm, maybe should color the aromatic ring

Do you eat a lot of oranges?

@JasonC You, sir, get 2 upvotes

4:32 PM
fist pump

oh man
citric acid?

L-ascorbic acid

oh boy
that close...
but jason didn't name it either

5:00 PM
I didn't want to spoil it too much.
If it makes you feel any better I knew it was vitamin C, but totally forgot that it was called ascorbic acid.

Well you got your upvotes, so all's well
And you got three instead of two, plus supplements

5:32 PM
Oh those were you, lol. Thanks, serial upvoter.

@theforestecologist But really - help me out - why would professional cooks use blue band aids? So they don't cut themselves again on that same spot? I really don't seem to be getting the connection between the band aids and the question we seem to have been answering. The reason why none of the answers is accepted as yet may have to do with that? Or akm I just beinf plain silly
And you seem to be doing well on the species identifications - although they are not exactly gold mines, most answers get #upvotes between 1 and 4 I guess and many don't get acepted. Those species identifications seem to be getting accepted quite a bit and upvoted >4 upvotes quite a bit
I mean, you were saying Ecology isn't hot here; I would reckon, if you classify species identification as Exology, it's not so bad?
Plus, Ecology is quite an available niche (pun intended)
So you're having quite a territory to roam

8:23 PM
@AliceD When I used to work in a restaurant kitchen as a teenager, I wore a TON of blue band aids. Not sure why they were blue, but now I associate blue band aids with *really good* band aids! They'd be wet all day and not fall off! :p.

Maybe the real question the OP was interested in was "why are some band aids blue?" ?? ...We could both try answering that question to see if we can drive up the upvotes further haha -- ONE MORE WEEK ON THE HOT LIST! :p

Actually the main reason I signed up for this site was to do species ID. I've been doing it for friends and coworkers for years and years,

@AliceD The purpose I am aware of is to avoid accidentally including the bandaid in the food.. in a kitchen it is common for hands to be wet or greasy plus one is doing a lot of manipulation with their hands, so there is a risk of losing a bandaid. A nude colored bandaid would be much less obvious than a blue one should it fall into an unfortunate location.

@BryanKrause - Now that makes a lot of sense! Thanks :-)
