@havarka According to the most simple reading of that gemara, I believe that they claimed that they did so either as an accomplishment by itself; or, (more likely) that it was for the purpose of B'nei Yisrael (to fund their Torah learning, or other needs) .....but that was a lie, and God didn't buy it.
( Tip for you: if you want someone to be notified of a response to a comment, either on a post, or in a chat room -- write their username, preceded by the @ symbol [like this: @havarka ]....I wasn't notified of your most recent message, and just happened to return to the room by myself )

@Shokhet, ok thanks, that answer I can take, that even though the business werent made specifally for the sake of the jews in order to learn Torah, but you could still argue that they wanted to donate money to us, but they didnt

@havarka Do you think I should edit that into the answer, to make it more complete?
20 hours ago, by Shokhet
@havarka Tip for you: use the apostrophe ' (left of the enter key), instead of the tick mark ` (top left of keyboard) ....the Markdown that these sites use marks anything in between two tick marks as code, which is what's giving you that funny look.

just bad habit :)

:)

Yeah, I think it should be put into the answer.

All right; hang on a minute.

2:25 AM
btw: where do you live? :P do you mind a litlle chat? :p

Answer edited.
I'm in the US; no, I don't mind a little chat....just I need to be somewhere in about a half an hour.

btw: and I would suggest that anything before God doesn't buy this lay could be deleted, cause that's just the translation and explanation of the related topic?!
where in US?

New York area.
Where are you?

Pressburg, Slovakia

(I said US because a lot of people here are from Israel, and a few from Europe)
Apparently, from Europe; like yourself ;-)
Is there a Jewish community in Pressburg, today? ....I know that there used to be, historically.

2:34 AM
we have a chabad shliach here and services on leil shabes and shabbes morning and holidays.. and we get at least ten jewish males to those events on regular basis, but none of them is married jewish spouse, there is community kitchen under his kashrut, he is schochet as well, but just chickens and turkeys...

Cool.
I'm also just a shochet for chickens.....haven't done any turkeys yet, but I've done quail ;-)
Hopefully I'll get to do a turkey sometime this year.

you were born in US?

Yes.

were you born in US :p
niice
i mean except cops shooting anybody :P

The police in Slovakia never kill anybody? I'm surprised. ;-)

2:37 AM
of course they do, but we don't have african-american's so its just white boy shooting another white boy :)

@havarka Without having looked into the Michael Brown case too much (I assume that's what you're referring to), I think that it's pretty simple that he attacked a cop and struggled with him for his weapon -- that particular killing was pretty justified, in my opinion
@havarka Yeah, well :)

right, that case is that clear.
isn't

Right, there's been some discussion about whether that summary of events is true or not. Like I said, I haven't really looked into it all that much.

you watch the The Young Turks, pretty good news according to me, like it.
I watch, OMG, my english is horrible, sorry

That's all right :)

2:41 AM
which case i really meant was about Tamir Rice

If you're into the Stack Exchange in general, not just Mi Yodeya, you might be interested in ell.stackexchange.com

It is a good idea this question type of forum, but not really, i appreciate it, but not using very much.
i prefer urban dictionary :D

The thing with Urban Dictionary, as far as I could tell, is that anyone can edit, and there's no quality control. You might try wiktionary.org, or translate.google.com

that`s right, you have look not only first thing that pops out, and you should also vote there
ok, translate google i use, of course, thats very good, and wiktionary i'll start to use it

Urban Dictionary has a voting thing? I didn't know that.
You learn new things every day, right? ;-)

2:45 AM
mikol melamdai hischaklti

eizehu chacham halomed mikol adam :)

i learned in yeshiva in berlin for almost 4 years and in bnei brak for half-year :P

Wow. That's pretty good.
I've been in Yeshiva for 5 1/2 years, now....but only in New York, no Bnei Brak for me (yet?)

I mean, I spend the time in those instituations :D I could learn much more, whatever. Bnei Brak is great

Maybe I'll consider it for when I go to Israel. Who's the Rosh Yeshiva?
Most guys here go to the Mir....but then again, so do tens of thousands ;-)

2:53 AM
I went to different type of Yeshiva, cause i am BT

Ah. I hold all BTs in very high regard. It can't be easy to change your whole life just like that.
What brought you back to Judaism?

long story, everyone is asking, i have to write it down on my blog, bother to write it over and over to everybody :D

:)

If you don't want to tell it again, you don't have to.

2:56 AM
i do, it just long, have to written once properly for good, and everybody can read it then, maybe till end of the week, ok? :p

All right, then. Ping me (@Shokhet) in this room to make sure I see it :)
