@jgallant sorry. I had to jump unexpectedly. The game board is actually just a grid. It's combinatorial, like picross (which is why I was so interested in it.
I'm particularly interested in how you're going continue to innovate. I had a few thoughts, since I love thinking about these types of constructs. Have you every thought about turning picross into a multiplayer contest? (Not timer stuff, but a partisan or at least, impartial, game? I definitely think there's something in there.))

I think I might have to implement a proper AI system for my game, like GOAP...
I think I've independently done about half of a full GOAP system, but the missing middle pieces are key...

@DukeZhou so kind of like Cameron Browne's game generator?

did some playtesting with the 10/11 year old kids of my mom's friend

user92578
we had a blast playing coop

user92578
found a bunch of bugs and they raised some valid concerns about the game

like what?

7:41 PM
How is everything going with the game @Tyyppi_77?

user92578
8:36 PM
@WilliamMariager I had a really productive week (autoum break), the game now basically has three totally complete environments (prison, jungle, winter), each with 24 normal levels and a boss fight level

user92578
Next task is completing the desert theme (19 levels and a boss level)

That sounds awesome!
Hows the Steam release coming along?

Should be flagged as rude or abusive... I think

I just flagged it not an answer. :)

Yeah, not sure what's the fastest way to have it removed (without a mod)..!

8:51 PM
I'm guessing the Rude/Abusive flag might attract more moderator attention, so it's possible it's faster.

Yeah; but I think if there are a certain amount of flag of the same type (rude/abusive), the post is automatically deleted, without the intervention of a mod. NaN flags have to go through a queue and reviewed by some higher rep users before it gets deleted... I dunno :P

@WilliamMariager Steam release is little further (achievements, steamworks) but I'll get to that once the levels are finished

user92578
I also need to figure out the business side of things (income tax, mainly)

@Tyyppi_77, Are you in college or how is it?

user92578
Senior year in high school

Ah
Well, my university has a department that'll help out with all the things involved with starting a business.
Maybe you can find something in your area like it?

user92578
Hmm, yeah, perhaps

10:01 PM
I've been very lucky with my startup since my investor has a lot of experience and people on hand to help me. Barely did any work myself.

user92578
As an introvert I'd like to just finda webpage about all that stuff but yeah I should probably look into that

user92578
I won't necessary even need a company

Around here it depends on the annual income.

user92578
Also I haven't actually signed the steam contracts yet so I'm sure doing that will also clarify things

Around $7500/year is the limit here.

user92578
10:06 PM
Time-wise I might be in a little tight spot, as I might start my army year next summer

user92578
Won't leave a lot of time for updates and stuff

Hmm, focus on getting a core game going, which it already seems you have, and then perhaps polish your development tools and make the game modding friendly? It's a neat way to keep it alive.

user92578
@WilliamMariager I've always been planning to do what Jon did with Picross: workshop levels

user92578
Won't probably make into the initial release

user92578
10:08 PM
But once I'm done patching I want to polish up the level editor and throw in the workshop API

Indeed you should.

It's a good idea, especially if you know you wont be able to update it regularly in a long time.

user92578
Yeah, but I need to be pushing trough stuff right now, because soon after christmas my finals start approaching and those will eat a lot of devtime

user92578
It's coming together, I just need to keep the pace up

user92578
Core game is missing 25-30 levels and small story bits here and there

user92578
10:12 PM
Just gotta come up with a few good level element ideas

user92578
Then the 20 desert levels wont be an issue

user92578
The rest will be just some chase the boss in his base type of levels

user92578
Anyways I should start sleeping so that I can do something productive tomorrow

@Tyyppi_77 Specific to desert levels?
Off the top of my head, quicksand as a slowing obstacle, cacti as a damaging obstacle, overheating where you have to stick to the shadows or take damage, ...
If you want to pay homage to Mario, you could have one level where the sun chases you. :P
Dust clouds could affect visibility. Maybe even a few sandstorm levels, with a constant force applied in some direction.
I dunno. :P Maybe you can think of something with that.

11:53 PM
This is turning out to be a surprisingly difficult problem to solve... Sigh.
