this was back in 10th, few years ago

I grew up trying to be very independent... which didn't necessarily sit well with my parents who wanted to be somewhat more controlling than I would have liked

controlling parents are great that way

they produce kids who are independent and unwilling to accede to authority

or murderers

I honestly had great parents. They did a good job. We just didn't get along as well the more independent I became. Now that I don't live with them we get along great.

In general, its better to see more involved / controlling parents than parents who just aren't there.

I'd rather my parents believed more in my abilities

My parents made me do chores, but let me get out of them if I found something else to do that I enjoyed doing more. I ended up with vacuuming, emptying the dishwasher (not loading it), doing the litterbox, and folding laundry. And mowing the lawn.

My brother alternated with loading the dishwasher and the laundry, helped clean the litterbox when it needed it, and cleaned the kitchen.

He did the less frequent, but more intensive jobs (excepting for the lawn).

We both hauled wood and cleaned the car; me doing the vacuuming and windows, him doing the outside and interior hard surfaces.

Sounds like good people.

Yeah. My parents had a timeshare in Florida where we would go around Easter break or the start of summer vacation, too. We were a Disney and Nintendo household.

Around 10, my mom and dad got divorced, but my mom soon met back up with her high school sweetheart, who then became my stepdad before I hit 13.

Since my dad was a pilot, he was always gone; my stepdad became a secondary father figure to me.

They would always stress that they were never hypocritical, and always honest with me about their own shortcomings.

And the fact that they are successful and happy with what they have did a lot to influence me in a positive manner.

Also, I ramble about my parents, because they were awesome and they knew it.

And I didn't even have a console until Nintendo 64 :(

My parents would do stuff like negotiate with me on what a fair punishment would be when I broke the rules.

you could just flip the normals

unless something worse is happening your UVs should be mapped correctly (I assume the noise is from a texture displacement?)

the problem is, the screenshot is worth 1000 words. It instantly screams "normal problem"

as in, "I can see the underside of the model, therefor it is most likely flipped normals"

I don't think that's a problem. It means when someone is searching for it when they're having the problem, they'll be able to easily recognize that this is likely the issue they're facing.
