1 hour later…
3:27 AM
hello

heya
uploading a video of something WIP. just sort of excited that I managed to get it to work. hopefully it won't take too long (says 17 minutes at time of post) to upload.

3:51 AM
its up!

2 hours later…
6:01 AM
@AlexM. I've played it a lot. Lovely game.

4 hours later…
10:00 AM
does anyone know about place where i can get someone to make me a simple 3d model? :) Like maybe because he would like a game idea that i have? :)
@AlexM. great game :)

10:38 AM
@Kikaimaru Open Game Art
They have forums and an irc channel.
But don't count on anyone doing it unless you have pretty good proof it's not going to waste.

4 hours later…
2:55 PM
awesome! :D
back on my Pentium 3 I wasn't able to play all maps
for example, I'd be looking at a photo slideshow in Agothera
after discovering that if you waited long enough in the main menu pre-recorded multiplayer matches would show, I spent a long time watching those matches

well good morning, lol.

mornin

'sup with you?

need to buy food
brb

aight, later.

1 hour later…
4:23 PM
back
got some cheese ravioli and napoli sauce
let's get em done now

4:46 PM
@IcyDefiance HEY GUI!
@AlexM. ^^ Herro. Didn't come on because I was on a train lol
On vacation. Train ride was rough :/
Loll

@CodeAssassin hiya :D
I love traveling by train
this summer holiday I'll visit the most important landmarks in Romania, and I'll go exclusively by train
last time I took the train though, it was not that enjoyable
there was this family, two old people and a ~8 yr old
I think they were his grandparents
god damn the kid was NOISY
and all the old people did was say to him stuff like "look at that little girl, she's behaving so nice"
GODDAMN YOU INCOMPETENT GRANDPARENTS
that's not how you make the kid shut up
that kid needed a beating
asap
he was jumping on his seat, on the table, yelling

"Now little Johnny, remember to use your train voice."
"OK, Gramma. WOO WOO! CHUFF-CHUFF-CHUFF-CHUFF!"

I secretly wished the train agent threw them out of the car while it was moving
on the other tracks
where another train was going to come
I had music going on near max volume in my earphones
and I was still hearing the brat

Did they do the "if you're not quiet the conductor is going to come and tell you off" act?

no
but I was ready to do it myself

4:55 PM
That one never fails

we had this awesome Romanian writer, whose specialty was theater and satirical prose
most of them made fun of such people
there are two texts by him that I really like
the first is exactly with such a spoiled brat in a train
and the other is about a dumb woman who'd get her annoying tiny dog in a train car
the dog kept on barking at the other passenger
and the woman didn't give a shit, further spoiling the dog
in the end the passenger (impersonation of the writer himself) threw the dog out the window
there are also satirical texts on politics and more, but I always felt these were closer to our daily life
for anyone curious, the writer's name is Ion Luca Caragiale (I. L. Caragiale)
Ion Luca Caragiale (; commonly referred to as I. L. Caragiale; – June 9, 1912) was a Wallachian-born Romanian playwright, short story writer, poet, theater manager, political commentator and journalist. He is considered one of the greatest Romanian playwrights and writers, a leading representative of local humor, and a main representative of Junimea, an influential literary society with which he parted during the second half of his life. Caragiale's work, spanning four decades, covers the ground between Neoclassicism, Realism, and Naturalism, building on an original synthesis of...
the english page is more detailed than the romanian page
never a good thing for a Romanian subject
his name is also one of the few generally accepted cacophonies in the Romanian language
LuCA CAragiale
Caca in Romanian means shit lol

5:28 PM
ah yes, we have a similar English satirical writer, Saki
he wrote a short story about two troublesome children in a train

I feel him

their mother or aunt (I forget which) tries to tell them a story to keep them quiet, but they aren't interested
so a stranger tells a story that they'll enjoy because it's immoral

in Caragiale's story there are three women with the kid, all of them relatives
and all of them feed the kid's need to mess stuff up
they also hide him from the conductor when the kid jumps and triggers the emergency stop
they've got the "my kid is better than all" mentality

5:58 PM
man I can't wait to get home to a real kitchen
the raviolis are still boiling after almost two hours :(

hey @AlexM.

hi

whats up?

6 mins ago, by Alex M.
the raviolis are still boiling after almost two hours :(
this

wow
still?

6:05 PM
only 8 minutes passed since

sheesh
that is tough
Hola @Kikaimaru

@William'MindWorX'Mariager well someone did it without any proof, after all it was just 3 boxed :)
@PythonInProgress hi

@Kikaimaru Como estas?
u speak spanish?

@PythonInProgress Ujde to, a jak se máÅ¡ ty?
do you speak czech?
... :)

nope :P

6:07 PM
then lets not divert from common language :)

Hablo Inglés, aunque
lol
@Kikaimaru sure
soo. any projects?

yeah, like 3 or 4 games, none of which i intend to finish :)

sounds like PythonInProgress there alright

what are they about? and what languages are they in?
lols i do this to everyone

you two should become best friends

6:10 PM
:P @AlexM. shut up
jk

good
because I don't intend to

@PythonInProgress mmorpg in typescript, casual multiplaye game in typescript, programming RTS in C#

stupid blender crashes when i try to export something to collada, how awesome

6:11 PM
lols. i hate blender but have to use it for unity meshes
never used collada though

@Kikaimaru have you tried another plugin?

afk brb

@AlexM. i was hoping that the one that is in blender would work

you can also write your own Python code to do the collada export, and make the whole community happy :P
@Kikaimaru ah, then just try another plugin from the web
there are lots of conversion plugins out there

that is soo happening.... jk

really though, it has a SLIM chance of happening

6:13 PM
I wasn't talking to you

if i'll write plugin for blender it will export to my format :)

even more awesome :D

lols does he do python too?
i didnt hear him say

if i didnt spent whole day writing collada importer to my game i would use md5...

6:17 PM
one more assignment to go and then it'll be just exams, finally
I have to plan, document and implement a multimap on a hashtable
good thing is, I can choose any language, so I'll go with C# to boost things up
now I also noticed the grading system
with that 10/10 in the first exam, it's hard for me to fail
but it would be a shame to get less than 8.5 in the end :(
pasta's done
bon appetit!

see u Alex!
I have ENGLISH to do still, an oral report..... sucks for me!

thats what she said

and its Sunday already, due tuesday..... Urrrr
@Kikaimaru wow. just wow

@PythonInProgress nah, partied to soon
I'll leave them for 10 mins more

@AlexM. lol.

6:35 PM
welcome to...
toolbar hell!
population: too many

holy..... thats why i hate IE, at least one of the reasons

all browsers accept toolbars

6:53 PM
all desktop browsers, you mean

give them time
I guess pasta's one more thing I can't do here
I pre-boiled the water in a coffee water boiler but my kitchen range just can't reach 100 degrees c
even on max
the pasta was half-made only :(
a ruined meal :(

7:10 PM
anyone worked with Irrlicht?

I gave it a try but hardly worked with it
the licensing on it and the editors turned me off
I switched to Ogre
and then finally to Unity

It's all free now for personal and commercial use. They got rid of the price tag

even for the editor?

I dont think that is yet, but Im not sure

without the editor, irrlicht requires you to code everything
which makes it fail in comparison to Ogre and other similar engines
which are more feature-rich
I might still give it a try later
might be fun, and it's another learned thing :)

7:17 PM
Its a bit more simple to get a basic world going, but there arent enough documentation/examples on creating a 3rd person camera

Whee, coroutines!

@AlexM. Ogre is ugly, just like an Ogre

I found it nice back then
there is a certain niceness to irrlicht though, I'm going to give it that
probably that's the reason it got me to try it in the first place

oh i think i found game with even worse code then miner wars, the colobot gold!

@AlexM. My problem is keeping the camera pointing on a target when the camera moves

7:32 PM
are you doing the rotation by hand?
i.e. matrix multiplication by hand

isnt there something like matrix.createlookat(position, target)? :)

if you are doing it by hand you need to:
1) Establish a point which will be used for rotation (you rotate the camera with respect to that point)
2) Get that point to the origin O(0,0,0) by translating it there
3) Apply the rotation by N degrees
4) Get the point back where it first was
you multiply the matrices in the order 4) * 3) * 2)
you multiply the resulting transformation matrix with whatever structure you're using with the camera
but as Kikaimaru said, I am sure there's something easier already in the engine

@AlexM. trying to figure out how to do either or, but there arent in tutorials in this area for it

@JohnMcDonald, You around?

7:38 PM
Yeah, sup MindWorX?

how come no one is ever looking for me :(

@Gajoo I've been looking for you once

once is never enough...

I'll look for you now if you want

quoted, skeleton king, dota2

7:40 PM
@JohnMcDonald Got a link to your web version of your interface? You know the test thing? I'm trying to sell Awesomium to someone. :P

anyone has spare robot model with robotic arm? :)

@Kikaimaru I do.

was the skeleton king also in the first dota?

I don't play dota
but if it was a copy of King Leoric, then I've lost even the 1% respect I had for the game

7:41 PM
@AlexM. he was called skeleton king back then too!

@William'MindWorX'Mariager can you send it to me, pretty please? :) preferably in some reasonable format :)

@JohnMcDonald Thanks. <3
@Kikaimaru It's very very slow. :P
Ohhh... Model... I missed that. :P

@William'MindWorX'Mariager :)

@AlexM. he also had that name, don't know if they really shared same model though.

I have an actual robotic arm that can manipulate things, controllable with an Arduino or simliar. :P

7:42 PM
@William'MindWorX'Mariager and do you have 3d scanner? :)

king leoric is awesome
I remember the first time I played diablo I did not get to have the entrance to his tomb on lvl 3
but on my second playthrough I had it
for a hack and slash Diablo 1 had a very grim and exciting story
I loved to hear how people got corrupted, from Leoric to his son and Archbishop Lazarus

Blizzard is good at world building.
Blizzard is utter crap at story telling.

they got it right with Diablo 1, Warcraft and Diablo 2 to some extent

I do not disagree with you.
Though, perhaps, you should clarify Warcraft?
the RTS, or MMORPG?

7:48 PM
Warcraft would have to be the RTS.
The MMORPG is called World of Warcraft. :P

RTS, although when I played TBC I really liked to follow what happens and stuff
I'm not sure if I'd like WoTLK for any reason other than Arthas

I think the MMO has plenty of great story. Especially the last two expansions.
So much happening. Not even the low-levels are left alone.

actually I lie, when I played TBC I liked to follow my blood elf's ass

@AlexM. Agreed. I think the story-telling is one of the most important parts of a game.

Can't speak for it, since I haven't played since Wrath.
There are, however, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too many retcons.

7:49 PM
though let's not forget

And for a while.

Blizzard's Warcraft universe is exciting just because of Warhammer
Warcraft 1 was supposed to be a Warhammer RTS

lots on right now!

Blizzard was on a, "Let's kill all named enemies from our previous games... because then we don't have to think up any new names!"

Starcraft smells of Warhammer 40k too

7:50 PM
@William'MindWorX'Mariager hows the game goin?

Blizzard's got the marketing though
so Warhammer will always be < Warcraft

what's the right board on stackexchange to ask about building a computer?

@PythonInProgress Forward. :P
@user11177 SuperUser perhaps?

@user11177 Super user is closest. I might also suggest reddit.com/r/buildapc

I always thought SuperUser was for UNIX enthusiasts

7:52 PM
superuser seems mostly software oriented

@William'MindWorX'Mariager definantly good. whats new on it?

@PythonInProgress Just working on an outline to create a todo list.
Keeps me focused.

I want to ask about the hardware stuffs

@user11177 What specifically?

@William'MindWorX'Mariager good. can i add something?

7:53 PM
Heck, we might be able to help you in chat alone!

I want to make a small linux box to use as a server

you've got my attention
listens

with a max euro limit of 300

hey guys, i got mah frend here and he's talkin bout makin models and stuff. he thinks computers can be more smarter than people like you and me can be. what say you to him tell him he's not as smart as the machine knows it is

that would be too localized and closed automatically
so the chat is your best bet

7:54 PM
@PythonInProgress listens too

thats what I thought

@PythonInProgress Take a look here. That's what I have so far. Feel free to give me some input. :)
The list of units and items is far from finished.

@Shiester He's not as smart as the machine knows it is!
@William'MindWorX'Mariager Cool thanks

@user11177 have you considered a solution such as
damn I'm not sure how to call it

@William'MindWorX'Mariager umm one thing.

7:56 PM
there were these motherboards with pre-installed low-consumption, some w/o need for fans processors for small boxes
there was one from AMD in a shop nearby
and one with an intel atom

@William'MindWorX'Mariager already, i noticed, the CORN field yields WHEAT

I was looking at intel i3 3.4ghz processors

@AlexM., Perhaps something similar to the the ION 330HT?

@PythonInProgress That's a feature; transgenic crops. ;D

@PythonInProgress Hehe, yeah, I'll fix that.

7:57 PM
@RavenDreamer lols

@user11177 just how many clients are you going to serve?

@William'MindWorX'Mariager good! ill look through it for you.

@William'MindWorX'Mariager kinda

under 10 ppl, it's for a personal project

because I need a small linux box for a server too, but I'm never going to serve enough clients to make an i3 a necessity
for 10 people I am sure even a single core processor is enough mate

7:59 PM
@William'MindWorX'Mariager also, can i write about a few buildings for you? smeltery/smithy and workshop/crafting station and other things?

For 10 people an Arduino is enough. :P

a raspberry pi even

@PythonInProgress Yeah, feel free. Any input is appreciated.

AMD has some serious power consumption issues in comparison to intel on the desktop cpu market
