Thing is that it is a company that designs applications for letting agencies and the content of that sounds boring as hell. I'd be the only developer in an office of only 3 people which sounds seriously lonesome.
Right now I'm the only developer in H&M in the UK but at least I have 80 odd first line agents around me to talk to.

I am looking for some resources for learning Java - ideally centred around creating games. My main goal is to be able to take part in competitions such as Ludum Dare. I also would like to have a game project to work on in my free time..as a kind of hobby. I suppose a language like C# wouldn't be ...
I was thinking about making a db.php file that I could include, that also had a few common functions, like look up by user id/name and other similar things.

Like if you ftp to the server (not your subdomain) as the admin aren't you usually put a few layers before you find files accessible via the interwebs?
but like I said... I'm open to letting you use some space. I've got @Gajoo's blog, my... thing... and another persons site all on there already. Very little traffic comes to any of us

I actually just remembered I get free hosting through my school's computers. They have both ASP and PHP. Not ASP.NET though, which is what I really want.
Okay, that makes sense. In the U.S., we have 13 years of schooling (Kindergarten, then grades 1-12) before entering university.
Grades 1-5 are usually handled by "elementary schools", grades 6-7 (rarely) or 6-8 are handled by "junior high schools" or "middle schools", and grades 9-12 are handled by "high schools".
Kindergartens are either separate schools, or small parts of elementary schools.
Because of the fact that most American students hit puberty during middle school, it is often regarded as the least favorite of the three, and statistically, there's very little guidance or support from parents or school staff during these years.
@Jimmy As far as I've seen, the 1-6-3-3 is only in very isolated environments, since the 1-5-3-4 system has been adopted by a large amount of school districts, and students moving between different systems would cause issues.
but then again, most of these series (Naruto, Bleach, etc.) are pretty high quality for the first season. I'm not sure if Magi is intended to go on for 200 more episodes or not.
