But I have no doubts quite a few "story snobs" hate that thing. Doesn't change the fact that it's one of the most amiable films ever.
@steelerfan Oh, I've admittedly not that big of an emotional connection to Armageddon. But it's definitely a fun movie for sure (even if Aerosmith can do way better than that).

I know that movie is fictional but I just can't get rid of the impression that Eddie could do many things natural way. His remembering all those thing when meeting the wife of the land lord is one good example. Can we achieve a lot when we just have the mindset?

Granted, but in this case nothing that isn't Japanese can ever be a haiku. Still, to be called a haiku in another language, that 17 syllable rule is still utter crap. If in doubt, ask SE.
@AndrewMartin And that convention simply doesn't hold as strictly as people made you believe once. That's all.
But a sonnet with 15 lines is definitely not a sonnet.
@AndrewMartin But by that attitude, you can't call any non-Japanese poem a haiku ever. That's a legitimate attitude, of course. But calling English 5-7-5 poems haiku while others that don't follow that rule not would be wrong. Since the whole 5-7-5 thing is not based on syllables and thus not transferable from Japanese in any way.

In Enemy, when teacher Jake goes to agency the security guy says he (thinking he is the actor Jake) hasn't set foot in agency in 6 months.
Then, wife of the Actor Jake meets teacher Jake. When teacher Jake asks she says she is 6 months pregnant.
Is there some sort of hint here meaning the actor...
@MovieReel Yet another person who doesn't understand how pregnancy works. If it were 5 months he was missing, that'd be one thing but 6 months... he wouldn't have known.

@steelerfan No. They count the pregnancy beginning at when you start your last period before the pregnancy... so you're literally not pregnant at all for the first two weeks...
@Catija But doesn't this make all the time measurements, especially the scheduled birthday, quite inaccurate? But well, I admittedly don't really know how it works, too.
@NapoleonWilson It's complex... the average woman doesn't know when she ovulates (because human biology works to actually hide it, to a degree), so she can't really know what day she conceived... but, on average, a woman ovulates half way through her cycle. Once they start doing ultrasounds, they can check the length of the fetus and estimate the age. If women have irregular cycles, though, they could be off by an entire month.
If that's the case, it will become clear when they do the ultrasound because the difference in size between a 10 week pregnancy and a 14 week pregnancy is really big... about three times larger.
@steelerfan Yes... but sperm can live inside for 4-5 days, which is why they tell people trying to get pregnant to have sex 4-5 days in a row before expected ovulation.
It's our lack of sex ed in schools, I think... even in high school they divide the class into boys and girls and only teach them about their own anatomy... so guys are usually a bit clueless about ladies... not that ladies are really taught much. Most of what I know, is from reading up on the web.

@Catija Well, I don't really know that much about it either, though. But if I remeber correctly we did this stuff extensively in biology lessons. Though, that was later, the sex education from primary school was a little less detailed and only explained the more obvious stuff.
