Q: Is the catchphrase "Hasta la vista, baby" meant to be a nod to "I'll be back"

sanpacoHonestly, I don't know why I never thought of this until just now and maybe I'm just really blind but I couldn't help but suddenly realize the similarities between Arnold's Schwarzenegger's two iconic catchphrases from the Terminator series of films. The Terminator (1984) - "I'll be back." ...

Richard answered a Teen Wolf AND a Predator question. Something is amiss in the universe :P
All within a 24 hour period. It's mass hysteria!!

@steelerfan What is wrong in that
Google can help in answering anything ;)

@AnkitSharma Absolutely nothing. They're just not the types of movies that he usually answers questions on...especially Teen Wolf ;)
I was complaining in Mos yesterday that I had silly answers to my Weird Science and Teen Wolf questions. Maybe he decided to provide better answers because of that...which he did :)
Insomnia sucks.
@MovieReel Hmmm...I can't believe that this hasn't been asked before.

Gilgamesh JajanI saw this movie when i was like 15-20 years old (I'm 23 years old btw). I can't remember the whole movie but there is a scene when this teen girl is talking with this women in the diner/restaurant then she look out the windows and she sees the gang then she runs away to the subway where the gang...

@AJ Hehehe! Yeah...maybe that explains my insomnia ;)
Of course, Richard always likes to set me up by "Rickrolling" me, or whatever it's called with Steeler bashing links in pretty much every comment over there ;)

@steelerfan both phrase have a Wikipedia link
"Hasta la vista, baby" is a catchphrase associated with Arnold Schwarzenegger's title character from the 1991 science fiction thriller film Terminator 2: Judgment Day. == Origination and uses == The term "[Hasta la vista]" is a Spanish farewell that can be literally translated as "Until the (next) sighting" and means "See you later" and "Goodbye". This term, with the added word "baby" - "Hasta la vista, baby" - was used in the popular hit song from 1987, "Looking for a New Love" by Grammy Award winner Jody Watley. It was also used in the 1988 Tone Lōc single "Wild Thing". == Terminator ...
"I'll be back" is a catchphrase associated with Arnold Schwarzenegger, which he first used in his role as the title character from the 1984 science fiction film The Terminator. On June 21, 2005, it was chosen as #37 on the American Film Institute list, AFI's 100 Years... 100 Movie Quotes. Schwarzenegger uses the same line, or some variant of it, in many of his later films. == History == Schwarzenegger first used the line in The Terminator. In the scene, his character, the Terminator, an android assassin, is refused entry to the police station where his target is housed. He surveys the counter,...

There's no hope for someone who has a bad attitude and just wants to troll. Unfortunately, some people just get off on doing crap like that.

@steelerfan All you need to do now is admit that the Patriots are better and you're halfway towards being sane again.

@DrRDizzle never noticed you coming.

@AJ Trust me on this one.

@DrRDizzle Chal phut ------------------------------------------------------>

10:36 AM
@steelerfan Of course they beat the Steelers! I think a team made up of just the people in this room could beat the Steelers!

Dizzle always gets the obligatory "GET OUT" when he speaks of The Patriots. It's just how it is ;)

It's virtually tradition at this point.

@DrRDizzle Ohhhh...them's fighting words!! Sick burn ;)

A J
@steelerfan Use ginger. It is good for sore throat.

@AJ I don't have any. I use honey. It feels good on a sore throat. I think that I'm getting sick :'(

@steelerfan Awww, I'm sorry. :'(

Because I think that I'm getting sick. Funny...I felt fine until Dizzle rolled up in here with his Patriots talk :P

@steelerfan Oh god! Please don't!

10:44 AM
@NapoleonWilson Calm yourself, Napoleon. I will be better in a few days. I won't be sick when I come over there. I just haven't slept well and stress and everyone else is sick... :'(

@steelerfan Awww, get well then.

I'm out of Emergen-C. I will get some today and be good to go in a few days. It's all good :)

@steelerfan What can I say, the truth hurts.

@MovieReel Didn't get the upvote.

@AJ I don't get some of them, either. I'm still recovering from a question that I answered where a not so great answer (in my opinion) received lots of upvotes and was accepted ;)
I forgot which one that was now...Argh!
I'm a slacker and I don't feel like looking for it now :'(

A J
10:56 AM
@steelerfan It was on M&TV or SFF?
@steelerfan No worries.

@AJ M&TV. It was no big deal, the accepted answer was just a copy and paste job and it got more upvotes, IIRC.

A: Why is it called "Match Point"?

This one. The accepted answer makes zero sense if you have seen the movie, imo.

A: How do they shoot binocular scenes?

Wayne WernerAs has been mentioned, the binocular "look" is just a mask. It's also worth noting that if you're looking through binoculars properly you will only see one circle.

The accepted answer is just one-line. It doesn't give much information about it.

11:08 AM
@AJ Oh, yeah! I remember this one! I had already upvoted your answer...which was a better one, imo.

Anyway for me tea and coffee are both same. I can have any of them. In coffee I will go for filter coffee or latte/cappuccino and in tea I prefer ginger tea or ginger lemon

I drink this tea called "Constant Comment" it's made by Bigelow. It's got an orange spice taste and I put fresh honey in it. It's delicious and feels great on my sore throat.

I can only drink it when I don't feel well. Coffee is my #1 love...well, besides @NapoleonWilson ;)

@AJ Why?

11:40 AM
@AnkitSharma My all time rank. One month ago it was 110 and now 41 place up.

I don't even look at that stuff. I just know that Walt is #1. He always has been since I have been around.

@AJ Because you got HNQ answer this month a lot
@steelerfan I think he was not from start, it was Oliver_C

Of course, according to the fools over at SF&F, they're awesome and we suck because you earn more rep there. Pfft! ;)

A J
My anticipation about a question hitting HNQ has been right for a while.

@steelerfan more people=more rep=more drama.......

11:45 AM
@AJ I just follow Ankit's HNQ formula. Works every time ;)

A J
@steelerfan Sometime follow my predictions. :)

Oliver_C still come here but seems quite less active

@AnkitSharma Exactly! I was over there yesterday all by myself having to defend our honor :P

I hope Nobby and TylerShads both comes back here. I loved both of there answers

A J
Is SFF older than M&TV?

11:46 AM
TylerShads also hated ID, even when I used to like them
@AJ yes

...and Andrew Martin. I miss him. Even though he was a Patriots fan :'(

@AJ 1 year older but tehy got graduation too early

@steelerfan God no.

A J
@steelerfan I got my many questions answered either be CDE, or Andrew Martin, or Richard when I was new here.

@steelerfan yeah, I hope he come back too

11:48 AM

Q: New Design Launched

JinAs you can see the new design just went live. Which means this site has been officially launched! Congratulations! Thank you for your valuable design feedback. If you're still seeing the old favicons, please load the follow urls and do a hard browser refresh. http://sstatic.net/scifi/img/favico...

@AJ Sometimes Himarm or Skooba will answer or ask an occasional question over here. They still maintain that you get better answers on sf/f. To which, I argued that it's not true. You get better answers on certain franchises, not everything.

@steelerfan Agreed
Even voting on SFF is more werid
Less weird then tagging but still weird

Adamant hates us now because I urged him to answer an ID question over here and then it was closed. I felt responsible for urging him and now he doesn't like it over here. Argh! ;)
@AJ Richard always gives great answers. You will have to ask questions on sf/f to get answers from him now, unfortunately :'(

11:52 AM
@steelerfan That has always been their opinion and it won't stop to be anyway. They're just quite a bit more rep-minded there (which is also why self-answers don't go over so well there).

A J
@steelerfan That is the reason I never created account on SFF. :)

@steelerfan but it's a combine package , you get a lot more then good answers bit better to skip that topic

A J
I can get all of my questions answered here.
And I can contribute here too.

@steelerfan Yeah, because all the precious rep lost, I guess.

@steelerfan I don't know why people go gaga over small bits of rep

11:56 AM
@NapoleonWilson Yeah, I guess. He has got a lot better about rep, imo.

Someone back me up here, The Cabin in the Woods is a great film, yes?

A J
@DrRDizzle Agreed for first time. Yes it is.

Yes @AJ!

@AnkitSharma Me neither. I have been around here for over a year and don't even have 10k. I guess that I am in here talking too much ;)

@DrRDizzle Meh, maybe not really great. A little boring and too predictable.

11:57 AM
@DrRDizzle The one with Chris Hemsworth?

@NapoleonWilson I'd hardly call it predictable. I really can't say that I saw that ending coming while I was watching it for the first time.
@steelerfan Yar.

Mar 17 at 17:43, by Napoleon Wilson
New Nightmare wasn't as stupidly in-your-face meta as Cabin in the Woods.

@DrRDizzle no, it's not and I already told u over slacker
@NapoleonWilson ++++++++++++++++++++++++1

@NapoleonWilson Nowt wrong with a bit of meta every now and again.

I would hardly call it predictable. It was rather interesting and unique.

11:58 AM
Aug 27 '15 at 15:03, by Tom Cody
On a related note, Cabin in the Woods was nice, but I sure expected more from it. Entertaining, but largely forgettable. And I don't know if it was such a good idea to reveal that whole meta level in the very first minutes of the movie.

As usual, @NapoleonWilson and @AnkitSharma have the worst opinions.

@DrRDizzle Sure, but don't smash it into my face like I'm the dumbest non-meta person ever. ;-)

@NapoleonWilson New Nightmare was good, good entry from a dying dumb franchise

@DrRDizzle HAHAHA!

@DrRDizzle get out -------------------------->

11:59 AM
@NapoleonWilson You might be right that it makes itself slightly too keen to clue in even the most oblivious of audience members. Still, I really love it.

YESSS!!! Now Ankit is kicking Dizzle out! Awesome!!

In the next mod elections, I'm going to be running on a purely "our current mods just have the worst taste folks. The worst. People always say my taste is the greatest, they say it's just great".
"I'm going to watch some films, and Mexico is going to pay for it!"

Hehehe!

Oct 30 '15 at 18:25, by Napoleon Wilson
I just think the whole meta angle, and that was interesting, could have been handled a little more subtle and not that obvious and heavy-handed. And the actual horror story itself could have on the other hand used a little more (at)ten(s/t)ion.

Make Movies.SE Great Again!

12:01 PM
Oct 30 '15 at 18:22, by Napoleon Wilson
@DrRDizzle Sure, but a reasonable meta commentary alone does not make an enticing 2 hour movie.

@DrRDizzle Ohhhhh...nice Trump reference ;)

@NapoleonWilson I didn't realise we'd spoke about this film before.

Oct 30 '15 at 18:16, by Napoleon Wilson
@DrRDizzle Meh, all that background stuff was made so clear in the intro that you wondered all the time when those kids will just get behind it already. As a meta movie commentary it was ok, but wouldn't have needed 2 hours. And as a horror movie itself it was rather lame.
Oct 30 '15 at 18:18, by Napoleon Wilson
But sure, the movie as an idea was interesting, even if it could have made better. I wouldn't say it was a bad movie, but I don't have much urge to rewatch it either.

I rewatch it at least once a year.

JFC. Way to go, Dizzle. Now you have Napoleon digging up old transcripts, ffs! ;)

12:03 PM
I blame @AnkitSharma.

As I always doubted dizzle is trumpish
That means he is always wrong

So you're a Trump supporter?

@steelerfan Well, apparently I'm always the only one who remembers previous conversations. ;-P

Not me.

@DrRDizzle I hate him, I don't mind if a mountain fall over him or thunder
@NapoleonWilson I remember too

12:04 PM
If you doubt something, that means you don't think it's true. If you doubt I'm "Trump-ish", that means you don't think I'm anything like Trump. So if that makes me wrong, that must make you a Trump supporter.
@AnkitSharma confirmed for MAGA.

@DrRDizzle Why it's my fault that you have memory loss issue

Ditto
:P

12:10 PM
@DrRDizzle Is calling a UK person a "Britisher" considered bad or is it fine?

I have called Mango, Dizzle and Rand "Brits" only because I know that it doesn't bother them.

I really loved terminator question and now it have only one answer where answerer didn't even understood the question :/ and it got only 5 upvote with no HNQ

@steelerfan I thought that was a largely neutral term anyway.

@steelerfan I can call them firnagi too but I am sure it's negative slang :D

@NapoleonWilson Yeah. It's just like them calling Americans "yanks" doesn't bother me one bit, but there's always someone that takes offense to something

A J
12:12 PM
@AnkitSharma firangi/angrez

@steelerfan Oh, well, that's not so neutral then.

angrez is way positive term then firangi
@AJ Anyways have you seen the film "The Angrez"

@NapoleonWilson I don't really know, babe. I'm talking mostly gibberish right now, anyways ;)

A J
@AnkitSharma Never heard of it. Is it south Indian?

@AJ No Hyderabad
The Angrez is a 2005 Indian comedy movie directed by Kuntaa Nikkil. In this movie, the word "Angrez" refers to English people and non-resident Indians. The movie was a trend-setter in that, it was one of the first to effectively and humorously, often resorting to the slapstick kind, portray the dialect of the Old City, Hyderabad and the Hyderabadi tongue. The film also portrays the fascination for American materialism, the hype around the IT industry and the lifestyle and culture it has spawned. == Plot == The movie revolves around three sets of people. The Angrez – Two guys who come from the US...

12:15 PM
Okay. Well, I don't know either. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

A J
@NapoleonWilson How do you make that emoticon?

@AJ Film is about 2 NRI who are called Angrez, fun comedy film if u don't mind Hyderabad accent

@AJ Napoleon is multi-talented. He cannot reveal his secrets to you ;)

The Angrez 2 is bit meh

A J
@AnkitSharma No. Will check it later.
@steelerfan Ok. So I have to copy and paste whenever I required. :)

12:17 PM
@AJ It's on YouTube too I think

It's a special emoticon that is given specifically to spies. You must have special clearance to have access to it.

@steelerfan spies are not suppose to reveal there stuff

@AJ Yes, but there is a retina scan involved ;)

@AJ I google shrug emoticon, one of the first results of which is this site, from which I just copy the text and paste it here. Then all that remains to be done is introducing another "\" for properly escaping the "\" that's in there.

A J
@steelerfan I don't care for access.

12:19 PM
@AnkitSharma Exactly! Napoleon has yet to reveal anything to me. He's an awesome spy ;)

A J
@NapoleonWilson \_(ツ)_/¯

@NapoleonWilson Are you effing kidding me right now? Here I go on and on about what an awesome spy you are and how you reveal nothing and then you go and post the instructions for that emoticon like it's NOTHING!! ;)

A J
@NapoleonWilson ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@AJ ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

12:21 PM
So much for Napoleon being an awesome spy :P

@steelerfan I'm sorry. I was already typing the explanation (after not having found it in the transcript) while that joke built itself up.
Hmpf. :'(

@NapoleonWilson Awww. You're still an awesome spy in my book ;-*

Okay, thanks. ;-*

Lets get back to the topic of how stupid is dizzle

You're very James Bond-esque, I must say. All drinking dirty martinis and stuff. Wow! ;)
@AnkitSharma Okay. Sounds good to me ;)

A J
12:26 PM
@AnkitSharma ok

I like how we all agree to this topic :P

@AnkitSharma Or maybe something entirely different? Like, how many influence Spaghetti Westerns had on Revisionist Westerns, or if Europeans can't make action films, or why Tarantino has a foot fetish.

Tarantino has a foot fetish O.o

See, now the poor guy left the chatroom.

Q: Who killed Fanny the dog and threw the stone?

Kenny LJIn Jagten (The Hunt), who killed Fanny (the dog) and threw the stone? (Or is it meant to be unresolved?) There seem to have been two suggestions that it was Theo (and possibly wife who did it): After the supermarket fight scene, Theo, wife, and Klara are sitting in their vehicle. Klara asks, "...

Not that I wouldn't love to continue with this topic, but my tablet is almost dead and it's time to go to the pool.
See you guys later :)

@steelerfan Have fun! But don't get sicker, please.

12:31 PM
@AnkitSharma It's not offensive, but it's also not a word. British people are "Brits", not "Britishers".

@NapoleonWilson Awww. I won't, my dear. I even have my hair dryer so I won't leave with a wet head :)

@AnkitSharma Help, I'm being cyber-bullied.

A J
@DrRDizzle Post some wise thoughts. You'll be find. :P

But I don't have any wise thoughts.

A J
@DrRDizzle Well, then I can't help you. @AnkitSharma is right. :P

12:41 PM
@NapoleonWilson If Europeans can't make action films, then explain Leon: The Professional, The Transporter, and the Raid movies.

@DrRDizzle Well, I gotta explain nutt'n, I posed it as a discussion topic. I agree they can, but there's arguments for the genre being an inherently Usonian one.

@NapoleonWilson They certainly make more action films, but they also make more films overall. I wouldn't say the average quality is all that different.

  3. 'Thought you'd like to hear some Britisher music. What you'd like. Some Beatles or some Rolling Stones maybe? They're Britisher, OK?'

No one says that. Trust me, the "correct" word is just "Brit" or "Brits".

@DrRDizzle lol
@DrRDizzle no :P

I'd strongly guess it's Indian English, like "doubt" for question or "do the needful".

ouch

Why "ouch"? That's nothing negative. There's no doubt Indian English has its own established word constructions.

1:12 PM
"Do the needful"?
At this point, I have to wonder if @AnkitSharma is actually just speaking Himarmese.

@DrRDizzle It's apparently something they often have on SO in flags and stuff. I'm not entirely sure what it means exactly.

Odd.

Q: How does Michael Myers always seem to know where Laurie/victims are?

King of NESI mean, in every movie, he always knows where to look for people. In addition, he also always goes to the town Laurie is in, even if she moved away. I think in H20, he actually sees she went to the school after going to her or Donald Pleasance's old house, but all other times he just knows where ...

Okay. I feel waaaay too horrible to go to the pool. I decided to get back into bed. Yes, I am a slacker ;)

@steelerfan Oh god, then that's probably the best idea. Just comfy yourself into bed and get better.

@MovieReel How does he still survive after being shot and stabbed numerous times? Because he's Michael Myers...gheez! ;)

Do the needful is more of office language
Used with looping stakes soemtime

@NapoleonWilson I have to leave in about 1.5 hours, anyways, but, I feel like hell. No swimming :(

@steelerfan Awww, do you have to go to work?

@NapoleonWilson No. I told you that I have a Doctor appointment. Who doesn't remember conversations? ;)
16 hours ago, by steelerfan
@NapoleonWilson So, are you going to be available all night when you get off of work? I forgot that I have a Dr. Appointment tomorrow at 10am. Grrr... ;)

@steelerfan Oh, right. Sorry.

1:31 PM
<shakes head>

Yeah, sorry, I remembered already. :'(

Uhuh

But isn't that still ages away? Is your doctor really 2 hours away?

No. I have to go to my dad's first to check on him and his new caregiver. To make sure that she doesn't want to kill him yet ;)

@steelerfan Oh, so you've picked one. Cool!
Is she at least nice and hot? ;-)

1:36 PM
She was really good yesterday. My dad wanted to have like 3 glasses of Jack Daniels. She only let him have one and 2 cigarettes. She already knows how to deal with him ;)

@steelerfan Oh, so you have to give him some rope at least, I guess.

@NapoleonWilson Yeah. She's very nice. She's taking her pre req's now for nursing school. Yes, Napoleon...she's a cute 23 year old brunette ;)
@NapoleonWilson Some "rope"? Do you mean "slack"?

Enough rope to hang yourself?

Yes...there's no getting around giving him slack right now, unfortunately :'(

@steelerfan Apparently.

1:41 PM
@DrRDizzle Yes. Well, his caregiver will want to hang herself in no time, I am sure ;)

@steelerfan Hey, I'm asking on your dad's behalf. ;-)

@NapoleonWilson Uhuh. Well, you can be like Kim and suggest that she will have to give Dad spongebaths and that she would be topless. Good Lord. <shakes head>

This stresses me out beyond belief.

@steelerfan But it's supposed to reduce stress. ;-)

1:45 PM
It's hard enough dealing with the fact that my father recently had a honeymoon..
@NapoleonWilson Getting a spongebath from topless nurse reduces stress? Hmmmm... ;)

@steelerfan Or maybe it just converts it into different stress.
@steelerfan ...

Hello friends

Hello!

you changed your name back
why

1:48 PM
@NapoleonWilson u
He missed when u become blue again in chat

That was already 10 days ago.

@NapoleonWilson I wouldn't know. I have never had a topless nurse give me a spongebath. Of course, if you would like one, all you gotta do is ask ;)

@MannlyMann Hello!!

1:48 PM

@steelerfan hey

@NapoleonWilson Cool. I'll send Dad's new caregiver over to you :P

Oct 15 at 16:40, by Napoleon Wilson
@steelerfan I'll probably stay it now, though. You apparently like that more and it makes much less problems with accessing moderator chatrooms.
@steelerfan :'(

@steelerfan depends on nurse

@AnkitSharma Well, from the sounds of it, you have mean nurses over there :(
@MannlyMann Are you going to get your drivers license now?

1:51 PM
I have seen more of mature nurses

@steelerfan november

Hmm, from the limited samples I can base my deductions on, it would seem US nurses are way more amazing than the nurses anywhere else.

dumb laws make it the earliest I can get it

@AnkitSharma Like older nurses?

...all those cute 23-year old brunettes. ;-P

1:52 PM
@steelerfan ewwwwwwwwwwww

ARGH!!! Dammit!!
HAHAHA!

I think sexy brunette don't become nurse here

@NapoleonWilson Hahaha! Yeah... :'(

@steelerfan Awww, I'm just joking. ;-)

@steelerfan Common everybody know blondes are always more sexy

1:55 PM
I don't know why my stupid tablet wants to prefill "lick" with "like" sometimes. Argh!

@steelerfan lol

@NapoleonWilson I know you are, babe :)

@steelerfan Smart auto-complete based on previous messages? ;-P

I was surprised that u want me to lick older nurses

No. That's Napoleon's job :P
Okay. That was bad. I'll stop :P
@NapoleonWilson Uhuh

1:56 PM
...

I have never seen sexy nurse here, I need to relocate to US right now

Most nurses who I work with are pretty cute. They range from ages 26-45. Something like that.

I know US nurses are sexy
They are the one who made sexy nurse costume so famous for Halloween

Well, not all of them are ;)
You know that's not how we really dress, right? ;)

There's nothing sexy about wearing scrubs...
