Q: Identify this underwater-themed animated TV-series that aired in the early '90s

DaniI watched this show as a child in North America the early '90s, though it is probably older, and have nothing but vague memories with which to identify it. Thus, anything fitting even one of the criteria is a likely candidate and would be a helpful clue! (It's also possible that I've somehow comb...

Q: Where was the song Rainbow Connection filmed?

xiaohouzi79Where was the song Rainbow Connection from the 1979 movie The Muppet Movie filmed? Here is the youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jSFLZ-MzIhM If possible, I would like to know exactly where the opening shot is, not just 'someplace Florida'.

1:29 PM
@DForck42 ofc

@TylerShads ofc?

of course :P

@TylerShads ahh, ok
i also added a little blurb to explain why we're prompting for info
so how close are you to the copy editor badge?

1:51 PM

@TylerShads hah! i'm ahead of you in something!
184 edits (36% done).
btw, how many ID questions did you end up closing?
@iandotkelly @tylershads 9/14-9/24 Resident Evil week ;-)

@TylerShads Hahaha naturally. Oh well!

10/5-10/11 Taken (1 and 2)
holy crpa, they made another silent hill movie?
10/26-11/1 Silent Hill (1 and 2)
that'll be epic
well, probalby not, but i love the first movie

2:07 PM
@DForck42 at least 70
Which might explain why our % answered shot up
it doesn't count closed questions
@DForck42 Agreed
@DForck42 epic until proven shitty...oh wait

@TylerShads probably
@TylerShads huh?

Silent hill

@TylerShads yeah, do you mean that you think silent hill is shitty?

@stevvve She's picky as fuck. Example, no more than an hour ago she called me telling me she almost got caught by cops and ran into scrappers
@DForck42 yessir :P
video game based = bad

@TylerShads :-(

2:11 PM
just like movie based game = bad

i haven't played the games, i just really liked the movie

Need I remind you of Super Mario Bros?

@TylerShads i actually don't mind that movie....

@DForck42 This is why we can't have nice things!

@TylerShads heh
i also kinda like the Doom movie
never played that game either
now blood rayne... that movie sucked

2:16 PM
go watch dungeon seige
andbirdemic

meh
@nobby should really join us in chat more often

2:48 PM
I agree

2:58 PM
Has any game inspired movie been good?

@iandotkelly battleship? ;-)

Yeeaahhhh
I'm thinking of any ..... mortal kombat ... no

@iandotkelly mortal kombat's not bad, considering that the game it's based off of had pretty much no story elements

and it knew what it was

street fighter?

3:10 PM
@iandotkelly blech

Jean Claude Van Damme - score of 3.5 on IMDB
Mortal Kombat has a surprsingly high 5.6 rating ... and I notice another movie inspired by the game is scheduled for next year
Although its not inspired by a game .... the game motif in Scott Pilgrim is kind of fun - and the movie has grown on me as I've watched it a couple of times more

@iandotkelly there's supposed to be a web series that's pretty awesome
haven't gotten around to watching it

I know TylerShads loves it - I don't rate it that highly but it is well made and fun in places

@iandotkelly Its one of those movies where you have to be in the culture to really love it. I.E. gaming freaks
But one of the best things about multiple viewings of it, is all the little visual effects you catch each time.
Again, my litmus test for recommending movies is my GF. She is the polar opposite of all of us when it comes to movies and if something can hold her attention and actually intrigue her, everyone will like it. And she loves Scott Pilgrim.

3:30 PM
Anyone still around?
Because I'm throwing the original Silent Hill into the ring.
Oh, and I LOVE the first Mortal Kombat movie for all the wrong reasons.

@Nobby yup
@Nobby heheh

like i said, mortal kombat knows what it is, which is the charm of the series to begin with

@Nobby i really like the silent hill movie

MK had a great soundtrack and was daft as a brush - the first SH really captured the atmos of the game - not sure about the sequel though...

@Nobby i jsut heard about it, but i wanna go see it

3:34 PM
My kids have limited my movie-going, so SH2 will have to be a rental. I wasn't keen on the clip with the nurses though, but I really shouldn't judge from a clip.

@Nobby i haven't seen anything about it yet. jsut stumbeled upon it going through the movie releases to help pick out totw items

Movies based on games would be an awesome topic (am I just repeating everything you've already discussed?) LOL
It's just refreshing not to be talking about TDKR - ha ha.

@Nobby actually that would be a cool totw
@Nobby heh
btw, made it about half-way through that hulk critic, then i couldn't take the caps anymore

@DForck42 Yep - HULK takes some stamina - but his insights are amazing. Interestingly, I noted yesterday that the remaining films I am excited to see this year are all based on great literature.
Life of Pi, Cloud Atlas, The Hobbit, Dredd.

@Nobby no great gatsby?

3:38 PM
And I am considering Judge Dredd to be great Lit ;)

i'm genuinely curious to see great gatsby

I have problems with Baz's films.

@Nobby cloud atlas counds interesting
@nobby not interested in the new total recall?

Am i the only one here that hasn't read the great gatsby?

Kind of interested. I am supposed to go see it as Len Wiseman is an alum of my film school (he did alright for himself) - but to be honest I am growing a little tired of reboots having to be 'dark and gritty', sucking all the fun out of the originals. I understand it's a result of the times we live in, but still...

3:46 PM
Fifth Element - like reboot would be grand. If you understand my point.

@TylerShads i was supposed to read it, but i didn't

I'm going over the plot basics atm

@TylerShads Fifth Element is a glorious film, due in no small part to Besson trying to make a Moebius painting come to life.
@TylerShads I'll save you the time. It's about a bloke called Gatsby, and he's pretty great.

Doesn't sound all that great to me. I'll harken it to driver where it seems like nothing is happening, then a lot of stuff happens out of nowhere, then it ends.
I've also never been much of a reader so I'm probably over-simplifying everything.

@TylerShads Sounds about right.

3:54 PM
Sometimes, I like questioning why supposed greatest works of history are so great to begin with.
Again, though, I always hated english class and found it boring. The only teacher to make it interesting was my final year in high school.
He actually encouraged us to analyze subject matter instead of repeating it back for verification.

@TylerShads That's a decent teacher. My English teacher (when I was 12) made me read 'Alien'. Awesome.

His idea of a book report was simple. Pick an element from the book to explain to the class. Not a summary, or a character description, but a motivation, a reason why a character chooses the way they do.
@Nobby that does sound awesome.
If I was an english teacher, I'd have my students read Fight Club and other books like that. Can't just harken back to the classics all the time. Gotta engage the students.
granted, catcher in the rye and 1984 are some of my favorite books.

@TylerShads problem is that those are the books the schools generally expect

@DForck42 Then that's the problem with schools.

i have my sci-fi class in highschool to thank for my stance on why star wars isn't sci-fi
@TylerShads yes
i miss lit.se... :-(

3:59 PM
See, to teach, you have to have interest from the students. You can't do that with books that are classic for the sake of classic. That star wars thing, I would've loved that class I bet. Its a matter of finding something interesting and the students will learn on the way to appreciation or dissection.
@DForck42 It can come back, ya know

@TylerShads but i want it now! ;-)

Then do eet

@TylerShads i'm waiting for the updates to A51(52?) to propose it again

6-8 weeks
(which means never in SE lingo)
On a side-note...WHY THE FUCK IS GREAT GATSBY GOING TO HAVE 3D?

Q: Why does Batman trust Selina Kyle all the time?

Vijin PaulrajIn The Dark Knight Rises, in the beginning of the movie Selina Kyle stole a necklace from Bruce's home as well as taking finger prints of Batman and helping Bane to steal from the share market. Then, she stole his costly car in that party scene. Eventually she betrayed Batman to Bane. So, the mo...

4:09 PM
@TylerShads lmao
inflated ticket prices

No seriously, what is the bloody reason
WHY IS EVERYTHING SO BLOODY FRICKIN TERRIBLE

i dunno

/rage

but i'm now curious what avenger's income would have been if adjusted for 3d

Another reason to <3 Nolan
Though, honestly, IMAX is a scam too. All it is, is a bigger screen.
I also just notice donly 2 entries on our star wall are not about me.

4:11 PM
@TylerShads heh

4:26 PM
@TylerShads When I taught I based a ton of my lesson plans on Star Wars - my class loved it.

I know I would

You you guys have the 'Extra' screens at your theaters? I go to see films there - the screen is slightly larger than IMAX, the sound is out of this world, and the seats are lovely - it's with the Empire chain.
Perhaps it's a Canadian thing.

Don't have that chain by me
All i have is AMC, Rave, and Cinemark

They had something similar in London when I saw prometheus - but I don't remember anything that grand except the big Century screens in San Jose when I lived there.
Again though, you pay extra, but in this case it's worth it.
And as for Gatsby in 3D - I agree. WTF.

i have good rich, holly wood, and one soon to be out of obusiness indie theatre

4:31 PM
Gah - I have to get going again - one day I'll be in here for a decent chat...

@Nobby heheh

3 hours later…
7:21 PM
bored

7:44 PM
Do what I do when I can't spend money for improvements. Learn programming languages
Flavor of the week today is Ruby

8:42 PM
@TylerShads - I agree - Scott Pilgrim is good from the little gaming details. I like it more as I catch bits of it again on TV, - I was a little bored the first time I watched it all the way through for some reason

9:03 PM
I have a query that , why batman is for 2 weeks on topic of the week and step up revolution is not planned for the topic of the week......i mean there are so many fans of step up movies and we are neglecting them

2 hours later…
11:19 PM
@iandotkelly @dforck42. I closed the new question as TL because i see it as career advice n not constructive. If you want. I hink there might be a good general question in there but im on mobile atm

Q: IF i want to write an episode to a TV sitcom, how can i send it to the TV network?

XNAwhat are the steps to such thing, i want to write an episode to beavis and butthead and send it to MTV ,i don't live in the USA,i don't know if that a problem , please provide me with all the details that can help.

@ankit. Seeing as we have never had any questions about any movie of the type vs the popularity batman brings into the site. It is wiser to encourage more batman questions. That doesn't make step up any more off-topic, just not something that would have a wide audience to begin with.

11:32 PM
Never mind. He crossposted on writers.se which is a better fit. IMO
