@Erosennin Low view count probably can't be explained by long length, since the length is not visible until we view the question in the first place :)

It is a wee bit unclear what the nub of your questions is.

At the end it sounds like you're really after a reference request?

I think your last three paragraphs could probably be whittled down to one, with some judicious editing.

@Silverfish, I created that tag / name a long time ago when cleaning up the original [fisher] tag. It was simply a poor choice on my part, which I've often noticed & regretted. It never occurred to me to ask the mods to change it.

@gung No worries! I was a bit confused by it because I kept trying to write it with a hyphen, that's all :-)

@Silverfish No, of course not, he he :D Thanks for the input, I'll try to make it a bit more clear. I was after some clue as to whether or not I was thinking in the right direction. Was it just me thinking that the method (which I tried to describe) was an awful mis-use of statistics! And also some reference - if anybody knew of such research. Basically I'm just lost as always, but - I'll make things clearer! Thanks!
