Our "multiple-comparisons" tag is desperately in need of high quality answers. And poor @Tim asked some good questions on it that never saw the light of day: stats.stackexchange.com/q/59681/36229
I can't seem to find the "start bounty" button on my phone

@ssdecontrol, it's nice of you to bring attention to that. I must note that it seems at least a little inconsistent to put a bounty on a question & vote to close it at the same time, though ;-).

@gung I didn't realize the "duplicate" flag was considered a close vote. I figured it was just a more official way of linking two questions.
I know this has been discussed on meta before, but it felt wrong to flag an older question as a duplicate of a newer one

Greetings - there isn't a way to directly contact a poster in Cross Validated is there?

@RobertF - nope.
You can leave a comment and hope that they will reply.
@ssdecontrol: I don't think it counted as a close vote (I don't see this Q in the close queue).

@amoeba - Thank you - I have a question about an answer he posted. If I post a comment under the poster's answer, will he notified in any way or do I have to hope he revisits the page sometime in the future & sees my comment?

@RobertF they will be notified the same way you get a notification when your question is answered

@ssdecontrol - Ok, remind me what that is. When I post a question, I usually revisit my question page religiously to see if it's been answered, I don't recall receiving an email notification.

You should get a red notification at the top of the main page. So the method does rely on the user at least coming back to CrossValidated. Or, having the StackExchange iPhone app like me.

@ssdecontrol - Got it - thanks!

@ssdecontrol, the flag should show up in the close review queue eventually. For reasons I don't understand, the time it takes to show up varies quite a bit. The other possibility is that a moderator shot it down.
@RobertF, your comment will appear in their SE inbox. If they don't come on CV for long enough, the SE system will send an email notification to whatever email address they had given when they signed up. Assuming that wasn't a junk account, they should become aware at some point, although that doesn't mean they will respond, of course.

@gung - Understood, thank you
