9:07 AM
morning
how can I see the recent tag synonym suggestion I made?

9:29 AM
@dezso All Actions > Suggestions, perhaps? Never suggested those, so not sure.

@AndriyM that's what I gave a try
but it's not there - also not sure if it pops up in some sort of review queue
I'll possibly go to meta to find it (given time)

@dezso you can see the latest tag synonym suggestions here: dba.stackexchange.com/tags/synonyms

I wonder why they don't show in Suggested

@ypercubeᵀᴹ thanks

10:15 AM
@AndriyM that's probably only for suggested edits

@ypercubeᵀᴹ Can tag synonyms have suggested edits?

@AndriyM Oh, sorry, you meant the Sugested Tags page.
yeah, it should show there. Probably a cache issue. it may appear later.

There's Erwin's suggestion from January 5
So it doesn't seem like a cache issue.
Or maybe there's some issue with the cache :)
Oh, I've only just seen the remark on Suggested: "...excluding voted synonyms". That's why Erwin's wasn't there.

@AndriyM where?

@ypercubeᵀᴹ In the tooltip when you hover over the link "suggested".

10:26 AM
@AndriyM OK. But where isn't Erwin's suggestion?
I see only one suggestion there, Erwin's. And not dezso's (which should be as well)

Er, you mean you can actually see Erwin's suggestion in suggested?
I can see nothing there.

I see both of them at both places

Yes. constraint <- constraints

(where I retagged the only post I've found with )

It's there in all:
Nothing is in suggested:
My cache issue then :)

10:33 AM
@AndriyM if i'm not mistaken you don't have the privilege yet

@TomV Could well be the reason. But it doesn't seem to make much sense for the system to let me see the suggestions in one place and not in the other.

In any case, I'm seeing what you are seeing

Unless the entries in the suggested tab have interactive elements that require the privilege.
> Create Tag Synonyms
Privilege type: Moderation privilege
Awarded at: 2,500 reputation
Hmm, so I do have the privilege then.

to suggest them
ah i see, voting too
but there seem to be score restrictions

10:49 AM
@TomV Yes, that's probably it. I don't have total score of 5+ on either tag.
Which may also explain why I can see no "(1)" after "synonyms" here either.

@AndriyM I can see no (1) either. I think that (X) is for approved synonyms.
Lets check. What do you see for db2 (that you have rep): dba.stackexchange.com/questions/tagged/db2

@ypercubeᵀᴹ I can see (1)

me too.

Yeah, I missed (or misinterpreted) the "exist" bit on the help page. Suggested <> existing, apparently.

@dezso you around?

@ypercubeᵀᴹ more or less

12:55 PM
@dezso what's the way to upgrade psql (to 9.4 or 9.5), without messing with existing clusters?
I mean upgrading only the client (Ubuntu and Debian).

@ypercubeᵀᴹ $ apt-cache search postgresql-client

and then?

install your choice with sudo apt-get install
(might need a bit of relinking afterwards, IIRC)

Great thnx!

1:43 PM
I get errors when trying to see my profile at SO

it's been reported @ypercubeᵀᴹ

Q: Profile pages returning a 500 error page across entire network

Ionică Bizău Looks fixed now! Getting 500 errors on all* the profile pages, on all the main (non-meta) SE websites: I know you're fixing it, but I'm just curious what happened? *: well, I cannot reproduce it on stackexchange.com, maybe there are other exceptions, but something got fis...

I think for the first time in my life. I've seen someone who may have to much notes in his code.
This is like a mini novel. I'm impressed.
There is almost 3 paragraphs of notes between every line in this select.

4:08 PM
If it was the new Dynamics AX version's code it would include a video instead of text
god I hate it, videos instead of documentation

@dezso prefer the one with the little sad cloud

4:37 PM
today is going to be a great day

What an asinine set of restrictions.

Q: How to Replicate data between a hosted database and a local database

ShmewnixI have a Cloud hosted Database, maintained by a different company. Here is my scenario: Cloud Hosted Database SQL Server 2012 - Need to connect through a VPN. We setup a local Server with with Dual NIC cards. This allows us to have the VPN connection, and the local network connection. I ...

Agree with @Kin with your set of limitations your best bet is going to be SSIS. However I will say that A: the dev cost on this will not be cheap depending how many tables you have. B: You'll have to account for schema changes. C: It won't be real time. D: there will be load costs on both servers. — Zane 8 secs ago

I can't even imagine how that's going to be worth it.

5:08 PM
i got promoted at work ... here's how HR keyed in my new title
Sr Database Admin Oracle, Database - Sybase & SQL
4
go home hr, you're drunk

5:46 PM
@swasheck They could just write "Keeper of the Data"? Congrats, anyway!

5:56 PM
Congrats on your promotion to Database Admin Oracle

@DanielHutmacher haha. thanks
@JamesLupolt i asked our oracle team if that meant that i got to look down on all of sql server peons like they do

@swasheck congrats!
@swasheck hey, you are an Oracle DBA now, you should be drowning in money

6:24 PM
Oracle DBAs have special lungs that can breathe money so that they don't drown in it.

@JamesLupolt I'm assuming that @swasheck hasn't gotten the operation yet

7:11 PM
@swasheck So you make even more now? :)

@TomV we are not worthy of his replies anymore

@Lamak I didn't expect otherwise

7:44 PM
@TomV hah. no. i wish.
and to celebrate, i vacuumed the inside of my wife's car

@swasheck sounds like something for a mysql DBA

@Lamak it's how i roll. dont act too important or be too arrogant. there's always someone better

JNK
@swasheck congrats on the sudden acquisition of Oracle expertise

@JNK i'd like to thank my mom, who always believed in me ... my dad who never believed in me ... my wife who believes in me but doesnt want to hear about what i do ...

JNK
@swasheck My wife is the same. The further I get in my career the less interesting the stories are.
When I worked helpdesk it was always bananas tales about people cutting their fingers while I talked to them and stuff

7:56 PM
@swasheck and us?

@JNK my employer makes for interesing bonus checks so that's where we get to have conversation

JNK
The intricacies of XML validation and choosing byte codes is less exciting for her

@Lamak arent you a ... sql server ... guy? eeeewwwwww
@Lamak the three people i mentioned have all seen me naked at various stages of my life. so far, @AaronBertrand and @Mike_Fal have been the closest of The Heap to receive that honor

@swasheck suddenly, I lost all interest about being thanked

"i'd like to thank @Lamak for the cronyistic bounty awards on SO and @JNK for not laughing too hard at my attempts to parse XML"

8:00 PM
now I learned a new word

on a friday? that's forbidden

8:30 PM
@swasheck ...

you know you're curious

I'm just curious how far Mike and Aaron have seen.
Is a what happens at Summit sort of deal?

9:01 PM
what happens at Summit ...

1 hour later…
10:04 PM
oh ALTER TABLE ... SWITCH how I love thee.
