@Catija most likely - it's a common ingredient in buckeyes, and more generally the most common "cracker" to include in a dessert, in the US anyway.
I think just peanut butter and sugar is probably more common, but I've definitely seen graham crackers too.

12:26 AM
Oh, she called them "cookies" in the question and the things I've had are definitely not cookies by any stretch.

Some people still call them cookies: allrecipes.com/recipe/10931/buckeye-cookies-iii
they're a sweet thing that comes in individual portions
not too surprising

@Jefromi apparently someone doesn't like your cracker math for some odd reason. I'm not sure what the reason could be.

>_> cracker math sounds vaguely offensive ;p
"You damned crackers and yer cracker math!"
@Catija ponggal?
or various sweet, more liquid things, like payasam, or whatever the northerners call theirs?

American rice pudding can be very thick. I find Indian variants to usually be quite runny.

@Catija probably either the fact that I inferred a lot, or someone who doesn't like me, I guess
oh well

I've made it from scratch a couple of times. Rice, sugar, milk, half and half... Oh, and I flavor it with almond extract and dried cherries.
@JourneymanGeek kheer?

3:58 AM
Probably.

4:54 AM
ponggal is a thicker rice pudding tho
and has a savory varient

Hi. i am baking cookies. Does creaming time change with the amount of butter used?

i cream 40 grams of butter with 50 grams of sugar for 2 min. i get good results. if a cream double these amounts, would the creaming time change? thank you

@christen not really, no
just cream until the mixture is light in colour and texture
if in doubt, creaming it for longer is better than not creaming it enough

People time that?

apparently

ok thank you. yes to get the same results i time it:))

10:01 AM
O/

@Stephie hello trouble

10:21 AM
@Cindy o/

@ElendilTheTall I'm not really here, but the meeting isn't that challenging.

@Stephie you devil you

We are doing mock Scrum planning / estimation and I am participating.

the occasional eyebrow raised in disapproval?
sending minions scurrying?
"Wo ist das Kind mit meinem Latte?!"

10:37 AM
@christen heh, my mom's very much the "if it looks right, its done" school of thought so when I help its "does this look right?"

So far, mostly moving sticky notes.

don't you use Trello like all the cool kids?

DO YOU DISHONOUR THE ANCIENT JAPANESE ART OF KANBAN?

This is a bunch of highly paid engineers that have to do the first tentative steps into the Scrum world.

I'd have you know, they once made a guy commit seppaku with a postit. Took a while. and a lot of postits.

10:40 AM
@JourneymanGeek not at all. Both techniques are used.

@Stephie >_> That wasn't quite meant to be taken seriously

As if you could scare me ;-)
I have heard what our coach is talking about already (twice), so...

I'll give you a tenner if you just shout "BOOORRRRRRRRIIINNNNGGGG" spontaneously
but in german, natch
"LANG-WEEEEIIIIIILLLLIIIIGGGG!"

Will do, but not today. This is my first day!

10:55 AM
And just because I know the stuff doesn't mean the others have.
^ know it. (Can't editi)

2:28 PM
Morning
@Stephie just accepted your LinkedIn request.
I started a new position on Monday but I still haven't gotten my work laptop yet so I'm kinda just sitting here fiddling my thumbs and acting like I'm already an invaluable asset

2:52 PM
@Jay neat! That's exactly what I'm doing today, too.

Jay
Haha
Engineers hard at work!
I love that your LinkedIn profile has your sons head slightly in the photo

Scrum master in my case. So far, I still have to find out who's in my team and which team does what.
@Jay daughter.

Jay
Thurber twiddle master in my case
Oh ok.

np

Jay
I'm basically being paid to read my kindle right now
I wish I was the type of person who can just enjoy this slow start and down time but I'm feeling really stressed right now lol

3:01 PM
Do you know everyone already?

Jay
Already did a round of intros
But a large majority of them are contractors who I won't be working with

Hm. I guess then I'll really be just kindle for a while...

Jay
I've memorized the 4 or so people who sit near me but it's tough. Most of them are Indian with 4+ syllable names lol

Eeeek. And w/o computer, you can't even look them up.

how do you get anything done sans PC?

Jay
3:05 PM
And to make matters worse the contractors don't have official seating so they switch seating based on who comes in first so I can't even make a chart haha
It's day 3 and so far my work has amounted to about 16 hours of thumb twiddling

ah
heh. I'm waiting to hear on what I hope is my next job

Jay
@Stephie btw I really like the bracelet you are wearing

taking a break otherwise. My dad had open heart surgery so, helping around the house

Jay
Ah I hope he has a speedy recovery

seems ok so far

Jay
3:18 PM
Lunch hour seems so far away right now :(

@Jay vacation finery ;-) But thanks, I like it too.
@Jay awwww, I'm already looking forward to the end of the work day and then Zumba tonight.

3:39 PM
hellooo?

@ElendilTheTall o/

hello, scrummistress

My very valuable contributions were "Can you break that down?", "Don't put the number you wish for, be realistic." and then writing sticky notes.

more than I've done all day tbf

But I got to carpool with Hubby.
^_^

3:48 PM
:)
well, today I have played some retro computer games and read a book
what a productive member of society I am

Which ones?

games?
just some tom clancy shooty ones from my misspent youth
and A Little History of the World by E.H. Gombrich

LOL

Tom Clancy.

4:03 PM
games
Tom Clancy's only decent book was The Hunt for Red October
oh, and The Cardinal of the Kremlin, that was good fun

Never played them, but am familiar with them of course.

Good Old Games has lots of them

Worked as intern in the publisher's company family.
@ElendilTheTall and thereby ruined the value of Hubby's collection...

of games?

Jay
Ohhh zumba is so much fun!
It's one of those things where you can't help but get excited and really into once you get started now matter how hesitant you initially were

4:21 PM
lies

4:34 PM
@ElendilTheTall yes.
@Jay and YES!
Even if I'm dead tired I will get my second wind

3 hours later…
8:03 PM
Greetings, my sheep.

Hi @Cerberus!

Hello.
How is all the job stuff going?

Had fun with Sinterklaas?

Ah, we skipped it this year, for the first time ever.
My mother normally hosts the party, but she is in the process of retiring from her job and was too busy.
Do people in western Germany celebrate Sinterklaas anywhere?

Yes! Boots set out the 5th, filled by the 6th in the morning.
Only small stuff, and traditionally nuts and oranges and chocolate.
If you are in the right (= preferably western catholic) area, there might even be a St Nikolaus in full garb handing out sweets in towns or shopping malls.
@Cerberus oh, I missed this line somehow. Good! Had my first (inofficial) day today.
Sitting in a huge sprint planning / training thingy with 50+ people of which I had met one before and knew a second from sight - from a loooong time ago.
Anyway, it was a long day and I'm off to bed. G'night!

8:29 PM
@Stephie Cool! Is all of that truly traditional, setting out boots and seeing St Nikolaus around town?
@Stephie Wow, well done and good luck!

9:05 PM
@Cerberus oh yes! This song dates back to the 19th century. In my area, it's boots instead of a plate. But if you've been "bad", you might get a bundle of twigs instead of candy. (No beating any more!)

Jay
@Cerberus hello hello :)
I just met with my director and got a better scope of what I will be doing and I'm really nervous and excited.

@Stephie We have the rod too! And I believe the pieten used to have meta chains that they would rattle with...
@Jay Hmm in a good way, I hope?

Jay
On one hand I will be really really busy and stressed out for the next 3 months but on the other hand this is a perfect opportunity to showcase my skills to my director and move up the ladder. My job title is still just engineer 1 but I'm working directly under a director so the work I'm doing is much higher up.
For those who aren't aware, I just started this position this past Monday. Brand new position brand new stress but brand new opportunities. Ahhhh

1 hour later…
10:18 PM
@Jay Oohh, well done!
I wish you good luck.
