Jay
6:00 PM
arent those usually a lot more expensive

ah, it seems that the 24 Euro chapstick is an old product and you can't get it anywhere else. Makes sense.

Hey guys!

Hi @Cindy !

@Jay Back in the old days we used Vaseline.
@ElmerCat Hey there!

@Jay This product is highly rated, inexpensive, and doesn't contain unwanted chemicals — if I were to buy chap stick, I'd choose something like this:

6:09 PM
@ElmerCat maybe

Jay
I cant use Burts. Every time i use it I get cold sores
The first two times i thought it was a coincidence. But by the third time I figure it was some sort of allergic reaction or something

the problem is, the more "natural" oils have a different behavior on the skin, and the residue can feel unpleasant
and the second problem is, it has essential oils
these are contact irritants
@Jay yep, that's probably the essential oils
not cold sores, they are virus induced

@Jay What about plain (original) Chap Stick
Pink flamingos were invented in Massachusetts!

6:28 PM
We won!
I have a headache from hell but:
We won!

Congratulations, @Stephie !
What did you win?

First place at the costume contest.

Oh, you were the sea lion?

Bat.

user116848
@ElmerCat Nice pic.

user116848
6:30 PM
@Stephie Congratulations!

user116848
What was the prize?

user116848
:-)

I was a cleaning lady (because I had to find a costume in like ten minutes and that's my go-to thing), but daughter was a very cute bat.

@Stephie Adorable!

@Arrowfar 4€ McD voucher. Better than nothing ;-)

user116848
6:32 PM
Heh nice!

@Stephie with a batlike snout or a catlike snout?

And of course the eternal honour of the best kids carnival costume 2016 - priceless ;-)
@rumtscho generic mamal-ish.
Hit all the right "cutie" buttons....

I'm glad for her

It also sounds like a lovely "mother and daughter" thing to do together.

indeed.
At least she didn't pester you to create a small "bat vs cleaning lady" scene and act it

6:37 PM
Me too! She "lost" at school (I had no idea that she would even dare to run) and was devastated. She didn't "participate" this afternoon, it was like a silent competition where a jury selected the winners and all that. Suddenly there was an announcement that "the bat" (and two runner-ups) were to step up, please...

@Arrowfar That one's not my picture, but from our local newsblog where there's more stories about today's snowstorm:

Son was very sad - still sick.
But I had to endure the typical brainless music...
That was arguably the worst one:

@Stephie What do you mean, "she lost"? Was it a class election?

@Stephie Ouch! If I were a mother, I might have risked hurting my daughter's feelings simply to avoid this.

6:44 PM
@Stephie I liked it — at first.

@ElmerCat kids who participated in the school costume contestgot ranked according to how loud the others cheered for them - and of course kids cheer not only for a costume, but for their friends. And older kids can clap louder. But she lost by a tiny margin...

@ElmerCat Then I suppose you don't speak German

@ElmerCat one of those "simple enough that you can still sing it after the n-th beer" songs. I suppose you don't understand the text?
It boils down to:

@rumtscho I took three years of German in high school, but that was...
....45 years ago.

I don't even know if Mallorca was a thing back then

6:47 PM
"We're driving <sic> to Mallorca and all passengers need to go pee..." (repeat ad infinitum)
(Or ad absurdum ^_^)

Oh well, I need to get busy and start shoveling out — we got way more snow than I expected!

Happy digging!
So, @rumtscho, are you going to apply?

@Stephie Yes. I'm almost certain that I won't call beforehand either
I'll write an application for this job, and during the interview I'll tell him I'm open to other ones too, if he has others

Good!

I considered a lot asking for a talk first, before submitting the application, and inquiring about future jobs at the department. But it somehow seems weird.

7:13 PM
Good luck! See you later!

2 hours later…
8:50 PM
@Stephie This definitely makes my high school German all worth it.

9:00 PM
Two hours of shoveling and I'm almost done. I still have to clean off the car and bikes.

9:32 PM
Hello all! This is what happens when I leave my work laptop open.....

@Cindy Cats?

Kitty likes computers!

They certainly do! The whole table can be empty, but they have to sit on the keyboard!

@ElmerCat Yep. That's my girl. Don't know if you were here yet but we almost lost her in November. It was heartbreaking, but she's doing so much better now!

Oh, Cindy! I'm sorry you had to go through that, but glad to know she's feeling better.

9:43 PM
Yes, the pic from SAJ on how his cat looked just before it passed was eerily similar to how she looked on that awful day. And even to the point of him mentioning the blood in the mouth and it affecting how his cat looked after grooming. And the worst was that this happened on a Friday and I had to fly to Chicago on Sunday morning. Thank heavens for hubby. He took off work three days after I left to nurse her.

Is that her picture as your avatar?

@ElmerCat No, but very close. I'll post a pic in just a second.
That's my girl!

Adorable!

@ElmerCat Thanks! Do you watch the Kitten Bowl? I love it.
It's a riot!

@Cindy Somehow, I must have missed that.

9:54 PM
Believe it or not, I was a dog lover my whole life. Never had a cat and ashamed to admit now that I didn't think I even liked them. Someone in the neighborhood moved out and left this girl, and she adopted us. I fell in love. The rest is history.

evenin' all

Yes, cats tend to adopt and own us more than we own them.
Hello Elendil
Goin' back out to finish shoveling before it freezes.

@ElmerCat Sunday, 12 noon, on the Hallmark channel. Kitten Bowl III. Puppy. Bowl is on some time Sunday on Animal Planet some time Sunday. I have to say, though, the cats have the moves.
@ElendilTheTall Hey! Scroll up for a picture of Patchy Cat.

looks comfy

@ElendilTheTall Very. Did you see the e-mail message she tried to send?
The day is going to come when she gets me in trouble at work. ;)

10:09 PM
lol
"SeNd FisHEZZZ"

I don't mind VTC as a dupe on that dry ingredients question but only if the title gets changed... If all of the answers are going to say "yes, you can store dry ingredients together" that's fine but I think the question needs to be changed to reflect it, particularly as the question title is confusing as it is.

user116848
@Cindy Nice cat!

user116848
@ElmerCat Wow, that's a lot of snow.

@ElendilTheTall Exactly! Lol! I wonder when she's going start ordering her favorite treats! Need to keep an eye on the credit card bills. ;)
@Arrowfar Thanks! She's a very sweet girl. Very loving. :)

@Arrowfar THIS is a lot of snow!

10:21 PM
Hi @Jolenealaska! Scroll up for a pic of my kitty and a screen shot of the e-mail she tried to send from the work computer.

user116848
@Jolenealaska Nice! :-)

user116848
@Jolenealaska Well seems like fun to me because here I only see snow/ice in a refrigerator ;-)

Thanks @Jefromi

user116848
Hi @Catija. How are you this fine morning?

I swear @Jolenealaska gets royalties for posting that video...

10:29 PM
@Arrowfar My stomach is upset and I need a shower... and it's 4:30 pm? Otherwise, just fine. My radishes are growing and look happy.

user116848
@ElendilTheTall So I tried to post a video of me speaking English on Youtube but the video won't upload :/

user116848
Maybe some other time.

user116848
Or never :-)

user116848
@Catija Ah yes afternoon for you :-)

@Arrowfar maybe you were too handsome for it
:P

user116848
10:34 PM
No, no you are the only handsome one here :P

user116848
lol

Finally, someone talking sense
You're a good lad

user116848
heh thanks.

11:42 PM
@Arrowfar No, it's not really a lot of snow, not compared to what we got last year! — anyway, after nearly four hours of shoveling, I'm finally done!
