12:04 AM
@KitZ.Fox Why? I think your writing is pretty good.

user116848
Stories too.

The story is really boring.

user116848
I haven't read it yet. I'll definitely read it.

user116848
It is 5 AM here. Jeez, I'm still awake today.

Hey @KitZ.Fox, sorry it took forever to get back. Brother in SC got a herneated disk and I've been helping coordinate travel and hotel and such.

12:07 AM
Eep!

user116848
Hi Metamaterialgirl.

Hi @Arrowfar!
I am now eating breakfast, heh

user116848
How goes it?

user116848
Nice!

user174558
My arch enemy on SE likes to say how goes it.

user116848
12:08 AM
Heh. Who?

Busy busy, with the finding details out, sharing them amongst family, and such.

user174558
@Arrowfar I need to keep it a secret. Someone who upvoted me a lot in the past.

user174558
@Metamaterialgirl I just ate breakfast, lol.

Anyway @Kit Z. Fox, I'd be down for a sprint in a half maybe after I get my blood sugar up. Maybe your story should go in a different direction for fun?

user116848
@JasperLoy Oh I see.

12:09 AM
@Metamaterialgirl Yeah, I'm trying to get there, but I can't figure out what this character is going to do to the plot.

user174558
The good thing about nanowrimo is that you can just give up.

I'll wait for you.

'Meanwhile, in Gotham...'

Well, I'll write while I wait for you.

That works perfectly :)

user174558
12:10 AM
I just ate noodles with egg.

12:24 AM
Downside of being a point of contact for everyone during this: hearing people's renditions of 'that one time I had something awful happen to me and was laid up for a month too'

user174558
I would rather be laid for a month.

@Metamaterialgirl Write it into your story.
I remember this one time I had dragonpox. I had the skitters for weeks.

user174558
Is dragonpox chickenpox?

'This parasitic mind infestation is nothing, this one time my gout blew up and inflated one of my feet till I couldn't see my toes'
This would be the fictional version of course.
Okay, off the phone for now and fed. @KitZ.Fox, wanna pound some letters?

user174558
Sometimes, I feel that metamaterialgirl = kitfox, lol.

12:29 AM
I remember you mentioned that, heh.
Also, I would imagine dragonpox would be something nastier than chickenpox, like smallpox.

@Metamaterialgirl Give me a sec. I have to check something.

Np
I don't know if gout inflates the affected parts of the body or not. I just always thought it SOUNDED like a disease that caused swelling.
looks up gout
Ah, it DOES cause joint swelling as a side effect of the uric acid crystal buildup. Huh.

Yes, you did well.
Supposedly, you can get gout from eating too much organ meat or lentils.

I doubt a lot of Americans get it from either of those causes, considering how hard it is to even find organ meat at a conventional grocery store.
Maybe more people eat lentils though. I don't, much.
I like them well enough if they're done right, but I'm more likely to do a mixed bean stew...
My one attempt to prepare kidneys was, shall we say, less than successful.
Oh, possibly mildly useful plot kickstarter:

Sorry, trying to get a handle on something. Go ahead without me, I'll catch up.

12:45 AM
Alrighty, ping me if you wanna sprint, and I'll plod along any old how in the meantime.

user116848
I'll head to bed soon.

user116848
See ya!

@Arrowfar Jasper is right. Just leave it alone.

user116848
@KitZ.Fox Okay, yeah sure.

user116848
Thanks.

12:51 AM
I know it's a bit weird, but if you just act normal, she might come around. If you try to rush it, you're going to make it worse.

Aroo?
bows out if this is none of my business

user116848
@KitZ.Fox Good advice.

user116848
@Metamaterialgirl I'd tell you but then it would be gossip. It's nothing :)

Ah, si si.

user116848
:)

12:55 AM
Acting normal is a pretty good baseline for most situations :D Hopefully all will turn out well for all parties concerned.

OK 497. Let's spritn.
sprint

Woo!
Ready?

yis

Steady
GO

1:08 AM
@KitZ.Fox 10 minute ping! Can do another 5 here.

265

or another 10, for that matter, heh.
Nice!

I need to move to a different spot.

271 here. Neck and neck!

woot!

1:09 AM
My protag is clambering around in a subterranean aqueduct system. Fun times.
She's just about to climb back out though.
Also, star-nosed moles can actually smell underwater.

That's cool.

They do a little rapid-cavitation thing and let the resulting water vapor waft through their receptors. Pretty amazing. They can even hunt minnows and such that way apparently.
I specifically researched this for my story. Hooray for the internet!
Let me know when you're moved :)

I'm settling back down.
my b key doesn't want to work.

oh dear
Keyboard senescing?
That happened to me with a space bar.

I'll just have to avoid those words, I guess.
etter than than when the a key didn't want to work.

1:14 AM
Oh geez. Shades of Misery where the t, e, and...some other key dropped off
And the author had to add them all onto his copy in longhand.
oh yeah, n.
I think at that point I'd just go to longhand, or possibly charades depending on how sore I got.

OK. Let's do this thing.

A'ight!
Ready?

778

Steady
GO

user116848
@Metamaterialgirl Hey "Aroo" is a type of fruit here.

1:24 AM
Oh! Neat, is it a tasty fruit?

user116848
Btw sorry I disturbed your sprint ;-)

user116848
@Metamaterialgirl Yes definitely. "Peaches" in English. Same thing.

Ooh, I love peaches.

user116848
Me too.

Oh dang, I spaced when we started. Um. gonna call 10 minutes ish here, @KitZ.Fox.
472 - 272, 200 words.

1:29 AM
1064 - 778
286

user116848
Nice chatting guys. Bye!

Take care @Arrowfar!

@Arrowfar Good night!

You beat me soundly on that one.
Wanna go for a 3rd?

You were chatting.

1:31 AM
True, but that was my fault.

I do, but I'm going to take a break to spend some time with my husband.

Sounds good. :)

Back in about an hour.

Eeexcellent.

OK. I lied.
He wants to watch a little more football first.
So let's do 15 minutes? @Metamaterialgirl

1:41 AM
Oh, that works!
Ready?

1100 even

6:42...steady
GO

1:57 AM
@KitZ.Fox Kading!

422

364. Woo!
Husband still footballing?

Nope, he's ready.
I'll come back around later. I've still got word count to cover.
Although I'm really close to quota. But I've got to start making up some serious deficit.

I'll be around I think.

OK, I'll ping you.

1 hour later…
3:08 AM
@Metamaterialgirl Ping.

Eyyyy
Ready to go?
10 or 15 mins?

Oh hi.

Hai :)
And oops, guess this wasn't as fast a reply as I'd thought. Huh.
As in, my reply, not your reply.
The time stamps not showing up on each message is a little confusing.

A bit.

Ah well. Still up for a run or out of time?

3:23 AM
Still up for it, but I think I need a snack first.

Blood sugar--approve.
Watching 'Everything Wrong with Fifty Shades of Grey'...in 18 minutes or less...thinking OH MY GOD that's like three times as long as any other Movie Sins video I've ever seen.
That's a lot of movie sins, kids.

Hahaha

A couple of guffaws are being had.

A good time was had by all.

Best line so far: "I am so confused by this guy's boner.' And that is the Sins NARRATOR.
Damn it, now I have to approve of fanfiction being turned into movies just so that the 'Everything Wrong With' videos can continue to have a field of ripe targets.

3:30 AM
haha
How much longer?

Oh, I didn't mean to make you wait. I'm good for whenever. That's what pause buttons are for.

OK. Let's get it done.
15 minutes?

Yesh. Ready?

1522

8:32. Steady
GO

3:47 AM
@KitZ.Fox Ping!

2003.

329 words for me. I got slowed down by deciding on what protag is eating.

That's 481.

Wooooot!

@Metamaterialgirl I hate it when I do that.

3:48 AM
That's hit target and beyond for the day, has it not?

Yes. ima post and head to bed.

Yisss. Good job!
'Sianeve ordered a salad of succulents and sunflower seeds, topped with a butter dressing, a dish of fat olives, two little dishes of cold meats to whisk through a thick yogurt dressing, golden tea and a cup of candied nuts to finish.'.

Shawneeve?
Shanev?
Cyanev?

More like that last.

I want some fat olives.

3:50 AM
But a long 'e' at the end.

OK. I know a Sian, so it hurts my brain to read it.

There's a kind of green olive that tastes like a black olive that I adore. They are bigger than the end of my thumb.
Yeah, I suppose I should have figured that into my spelling. Oops.

Now I wonder how big your thumbs are.

Uh...a little shorter and fatter than my fingers.

@Metamaterialgirl Whatever. You can do a global replace later.
@Metamaterialgirl Does it taste good?

3:51 AM
I don't have hitch hiker's thumb, so it's...a big but not huge olive?
slurps thoughtfully depends on what I've just picked up with them.

considers
Like large, but not jumbo, I suppose.
Like your thumb is smaller than your big toe.

Castelvetrano Olive

The Castelvetrano Olive, or Nocellara del Belice, is an olive grown in western Sicily with an intense green coloring and sweeter flavor.
Damn, no pic. I tried to just copypaste.
But yeah, think it's that one.
Okay, they are shorter and rounder than my thumb tip.
Well, maybe not shorter. They ARE pretty big olives.
My dad gets these massive cans of them from some specialty grocery store he goes to in KY, and promised me one for Christmas.

Wow, that looks tasty.
OK. Bed for me. Thanks for the sprints. See you tomorrow?

Yisssss :)
Have a good sleep!

13 hours later…
4:35 PM
@Mr.Shiny Do you remember who made you room owner in EL&U chat?

@KitZ.Fox Not clearly. I think it was you.

OK. That was my recollection as well.

Honestly, I never use room ownership functions there, so if my being an owner is problematic, I'm fine not being one.

It's not really important. I was just thinking about it.

Here, I use the ownership to pin and unpin writing exercises... that's basically all.

4:37 PM
No, I meant what I said. You have been a responsible room owner here.
And EL&U usually has at least one mod in it, so there's less need for room owners there.

Well, I won't deny that I'm not abusing room ownership, but that's almost entirely because I never ever use it at all :p

Better that than misusing it.

4:52 PM
I don't need to know who it was, but as a mod can you tell who kicked Catija from the ELU room last week?

@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 He says so in his post.

5:09 PM
I must have missed it.

3 hours later…
user174558
8:27 PM
Hi.

I thought you were going to stop coming here? Not that I think you should.

user174558
Well, I thought there might still be interesting stuff here.

user174558
I will try not to go to the math room anymore. Always end up quarrelling with people.

user174558
The people there can be quite arrogant and full of themselves.

8:55 PM
Well, let's keep things civil here, eh? That includes avoiding gossip and backbiting.

do we back-bite here?

user174558
Yes, I called them arrogant and full of themselves.

user174558
But maybe that doesn't count.

user174558
This room is very civil, just like TeX.

user174558
@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 Was Catija the one who flagged a lot?

9:00 PM
I don't know who flagged. Catija was in the room during the flagging. But flags always draw moths.

We're usually quite good about being nice here. That includes being able to talk about people in respectful ways even when we disagree with them or find their behaviour unpleasant (or being able to choose to not mention them if we can't be civil about it or the discussion will be fruitless).

user174558
@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 And why was he kicked out of the room? I did not find anything in the transcript.

user174558
@BESW May I ask what you do for work? Are you a writer?

I'm a graphic designer with a specialty in print media. I also sometimes do computer program training on the side.

user174558
I see. I'm a lunatic with an interest in drinking tea and coffee.

9:07 PM
I'd like to write more, but nailing down regular time in my schedule for writing isn't really viable at this point in my life. My narrative drive these days is satisfied mostly through a weekly tabletop role-playing game with my friends.

user174558
I have no interest in writing. The last time I read fiction was in high school.

user174558
However, I liked Great Expectations. I committed the first paragraph to memory.

user174558
Dickens is brilliant. Maybe because I identify with his characters.

user174558
His works are now in the public domain.

I find the structure and ludonarrative of serialised works interesting, and Dickens is emblematic of one approach to that medium.

user174558
9:17 PM
If you write you could try using TeX. The font is really nice!

@JasperLoy Someone didn't like what Catija was saying, I guess.

user174558
@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 Aha, sounds like abuse of powers...

user174558
Countdown to the new year!

TeX seems like overproduction for simple writing activities; it's focused on providing options for layout and atypical characters, rather than on being a composition platform (eg Scrivener). I don't require complex mathematical formulae and I use InDesign for my professional layout needs.
For straight text composition I tend to use a super low-end platform like TextEdit because I don't need formatting options to distract from creating pure content.
Depending on my specific context and content there are some subjects that I start with pen and paper to compose.

user174558
9:27 PM
I see. I prefer pencil to pen.

I've been cultivating a strikethrough-not-erase habit. Keeps me moving faster and cleaner.
It's a rollover from my artistic training.

user174558
Yes, I agree. I type faster than I write these days though.

user174558
10:24 PM
Hello @KitZ.Fox!

Hi @Jasper.
I'll be back later.

user116848
Hello!

user174558
I am thinking if I should change my life plans...

user174558
Sometimes I am so confused I don't know what I am thinking.

user174558
I think I am still very sick.

user174558
10:37 PM
I think maybe my brain is damaged.

user116848
@JasperLoy Hi Jasper. I hope you get well soon. I'm not saying anything because sometimes it seems difficult to console someone in English language. I'm still improving it :-)

user174558
@Arrowfar Your English is very good, much better than Rathony. =)

Q: Allowing people to edit/proofcheck my posts on wordpress.com

dwjohnstonI have a frequent issue of publishing posts on my blog that contain basic typos, which can be quite embarrassing for an otherwise well written post. On Stack Exchange, other users have the privileges to make edits to posts, and this is quite often use to fix typos and formatting. It would be ...
