@Jolenealaska it's tough to give advice here
Personally, I'd never buy a Kindle Fire
it's as different from a real tablet as a Playstation is different from a PC
it's more of a unitasker, a media playing device
the problem is with the videos.
The Kindle Fire has tons of limitations you might run into or not
but it is the only one which can play back Amazon streaming videos
and it can't play streaming videos from any other service, like Netflix
I think YouTube is OK, it's subscription media services they don't allow
but they also refuse to let other Android devices play their own videos
so if your primary goal is to watch movies, you should choose based on your subscription (and you can't change your mind later unless you buy another tablet).
The USB port on a tablet is meant for the tablet to become a computer's periphery device, not the other way round
you can connect a keyboard using a cheap adapter though, at least on standard Android
It works without the need for installing apps, so maybe Amazon's tablet supports it too
As for the storage capacity, you don't want to store videos on it. You stream them.
The smaller device will probably be fine. Data doesn't belong on a tablet, it belongs elsewhere.
You only keep on the tablet what you are currently consuming, you don't use it to keep large collections of documents or media
one exception is if you want to use it as a music player and insist on always having all your music available in your pocket
oh, if you need a tablet which you will carry around, you probably want Internet connectivity
I don't know how it is in the USA, here it's practically only the mobile phone network when you're on the road. Wifi spots are uncommon.
So you'd need a tablet with LTE or at least UMTS if you want to use Internet on the road (which is quite useful)
unless the Whispernet allows you some kind of Wifi access, I don't know that
but if you want mobile Internet, you'll have to pay for a mobile contract with data. Ask somebody American about these things, I don't know how your price structures work
You may get away with not having Internet on the tablet, if you preload it with the stuff which you want to use while you're on the road
note that even with a contract, watching films is not usually an option, because they use up too much of your limited data
