@Semaphore Hello!

@Leuchte Hello

@Semaphore Someone recently told me of an author whom he named as "Nickadie" or "Nipadie" on the First World War but I can't quite tell who the writer is. Mightn't you know of him (the writer)?
Apparently in this novel, the writer suggests a thesis that had Germany not been challenging the British by building a navy and focused their economy onto the land army, they may as well have won the war.

I'm afraid I'm drawing a blank
Oh, so its historical fiction?

I believe so
but quick Google searches do not seem to reveal anything
@Semaphore Would that be worth a question on SE?
Would it not be historical non-fiction?

I did a check but I can't seem to find anything like that either.
I don't think this would be very well received on H.SE
since alternative hisotry it's not really non-fiction
Unless, you mean it's a historian arguing that Germany could have won by focusing more on the land and ignoring the seas
in which case you can ask a question on whether any historian had published a theory like that

10:53 AM
@Semaphore Yes that's the theory
Ok
Thanks for your help and time

@Leuchte No problems and good luck on your question. Be sure to tag it historiography.

@Semaphore Should I reference this conversation in the question? i.e. as a note?

@Leuchte I don't think that's necessary.

Ok
@Semaphore I have now posted the question, feel free to edit it if necessary:

Q: Which historian suggested not to build a German Navy in a non-fiction World War I novel?

LeuchteIt seems that an author named "Nickadie" or "Nipadie" (I did not quite understand the pronunciation) suggested that had the German navy never built such a navy to challenge the British, and focused more of their economy on the land army instead, they would, or could, have won the First World War....

11:11 AM
@Leuchte Novels are by definition fictional...
@Leuchte I made some edits.

Ok thanks
