9:26 AM
@Simon ascerbic house... he's like famous for it

9:50 AM
!@#$%^ accidentally messed up the partition table of one of my disks...

10:32 AM
@TerryChia you probably didn't want to do that

@RоryMcCune Yeah I probably didn't...
Thankfully it's all music and movies and I have most of it backed up.
Trying to recover it first though...

10:47 AM
Thank god that worked. Saved me hours of file transfer.

4 hours later…
2:58 PM
"accidentally" deleted your music partition
that would literally be a /wrists event

@kalina I have the physical disks as well as backups of the digital copies so it's not too bad. :P
Just a couple of hours lost while the files gets transferred.

what is a "physical disk"
is that some sort of MP3?

@kalina You will need @RoryAlsop to explain the entire history for you. :)

I only own a handful of CDs
I do have an entire room with vinyl down one wall though
well, it's actually only half full
but one day...

@kalina I have 50 or 60 I think.

3:09 PM
I think I even have a couple of tapes somewhere in storage
but I can't remember actually owning anything capable of playing them
I do, however, have a minidisc player
I am eating biscuits for breakfast
such a classy girl
"this disk comes with a copy of Acronis True Image HD"
Can somebody explain the purpose of high definition when referring to backup and disk imaging software?

I have a box with >400 tapes in the attic, and another one with all the CD's I have ever owned.
Loads of them. If my backups ever die I can re-rip my flac files

here is a medal for hoarding

@kalina - the HD there is for marketing
Yay - hoarder medal

I used to hoard
and then one day I tried to move house

I only have 22 LPs though

3:22 PM
and it was more difficult than I wanted it to be
even now, my vinyl collection will kill most small vehicles

Every time I move I Dutch loads of stuff. But I collect faster than moving house
Ditch, even

but before, it was "every component of every PC I'd ever owned", along with "every possible kitchen utensil", "boxes of wires that contains more boxes of wires"
etc
I am basically minimalist in comparison, now
but then one day I was looking through this room full of stuff
realized, basically, it's all worthless junk
and moved out without it

@kalina Sounds like @Simon.
Too mean?

a little

1 hour later…
4:33 PM
This is clearly very far short of the mark, it's unanswerable

4:46 PM
> As of now i have my finances stored in an excel sheet on an encrypted drive. It is pretty inconvenient.
(it's too broad tho)

@TildalWave no, linking to an external resource isn't an answer
and maintaining this resource ourselves is more work than is to be expected from an SE answer

@Gilles c'mon, surely you've realized by now I love to argue with you just for the kicks of it? :)

@TildalWave sigh
I get enough of that crap elsewhere

@Gilles yeah but here we're at least cute about it :)
also, crap is underrated

5:02 PM
I've never had the pleasure of a nice, moist, spotted dick in my mouth. I'll bet it's lovely.

5:28 PM
@TerryChia pls
@ScottPack Oh.

5:46 PM
@Simon You don't agree?

you had me at moist :)

Q: Wife was conned into allowing her computer to be hacked, what do I do?

Aaron HallMy wife had a popup on her old Windows Vista laptop (which I've been threatening to switch to Ubuntu Linux). It appeared to come from our ISP, and informed her that she was hacked, and to call a number. An Indian guy answered, told her to go to a site (lmi1.com), gave her a code, and told her to ...

This was my question
Do I need to be worried about firmware?
Should I take out the little battery, wouldn't that reset it?
Hi, @Simon .
Thoughts?

8:34 PM
hello

1 hour later…
9:49 PM
@TerryChia now why on earth would I want to do that? It seems terribly counter-productive.

10:08 PM
@Iszi you meant "#3. @RoryAlsop in a walker, jumping out of an airplane."
@RоryMcCune wow, I gotta get one of those. Would be great for yoga.
