@deed02392 FDE is quite normal, but if you enable FDE and do a remote wipe, it automatically remotely wipes the header of the key and the firmware won't allow you to install a new OS before supplying your AppleID details
so it becomes a very expensive press papier
I was kind of impressed with those features

i'm talking about mitigating the thieves ability to take over a machine and safely use the internet after it is marked as stolen
if they can't change the disk, they have to boot with your disk
