@RoryAlsop Oh, yeah. It's gotten bigger, too. More protocols support, and now available on many smartphone platforms and a web interface.

Had an interesting day today, in short this happened "Are you busy this weekend? No why? Good make sure you get to Norway tomorrow, no matter what the cost."

@LucasKauffman Ha. I hate it when that happens. Mainly because I'm not single and it messes with my life. I probably would have been fine with it when I was your age.

@AviD orly?

@Xander the misses doesn't like it either though :p

@LucasKauffman Ah, yes, you have a missus. See? It messes with your life. :-)

9:05 PM
well, maybe not 48x.

@Xander C'mon, you totally had a pun opportunity there. Why didn't you take it?

@Xander It does, but I mean I don't have any kids (trying to keep it that way for another few years) so it's okay

@Iszi I'm too boring for that.

@Xander fortunately I'm going with a guy who's on his first trip abroad, I told him that there is a tradition that says that he needs to pay for all the beers during the trip.

And again I find myself reading through vendor-provided Perl code to figure out what the command-line arguments do. F-U Perl.

9:08 PM
perl is voodoo

@LucasKauffman LOL. Sounds like that'll work out for you then.

@LucasKauffman We do that voodoo that perldo so well.

@Xander considering last time I spent about 60 euro (multiply by 1.37 for USD) for 5 beers last time I was in Norway

@LucasKauffman perl is the bastard child of bash and awk, with bad parenting provided by C.

@LucasKauffman Yikes.

9:09 PM
@LucasKauffman I only slightly miss those days
@LucasKauffman expense account...duh!

@tylerl You should do more Windows work. Much less Perl.

@Xander sweet jesus no. I'm not even going to start on VBScript

@RoryAlsop Exactly, I'm only fearing that we'll be put amidst a shitstorm since things aren't going great when you're on such short notice

@LucasKauffman the thing to do is remember you are the cavalry :-)

@RoryAlsop Tally ho!

People keep asking me what is the best antivirus, I keep saying to them: Common Sense™ 2014

@PatoSáinz yea, no.

Anonymous
@LucasKauffman why not?

imo an AV is nescessary for most people, I install it on all my systems except the ones I use for pentesting and research

Anonymous
oh sure, it's nice to have something to have your back

MSE FTW

9:21 PM
@PatoSáinz because most people don't make backups, most people fuck up and accidently click a link, resulting in shitstorm

yay for TLA's

Anonymous
And in enterprise environments it should be a must

Kaspersky
and EMET

noooooo - not kaspersky
even EMET is a PITA

@RoryAlsop it's beautiful

9:21 PM
I usually recommend Avast Free

Avast - not for a couple of years now
it has gone the way of AVG
But never, ever, stoop to McAfee...#

no not McAfee

I'm thinking off topic perhaps?

Q: Subject when using openidp

hamayounI am using https://openidp.feide.no/ for testing SAML with my service provider. The Subject in the SAML assertion seems to be some strange value, it's not Base64 encoded. Can someone tell me what it actually represents? Below is the Subject part from the assertion I received. <saml:Subject> <...

the only thing that's good about McAfee are the youtube videos produced by it's ex-ceo

Anonymous
Then the best free antivirus is MSE?

9:23 PM
@PatoSáinz IMO
yes

Anonymous
The best free antivirus is Antivirus Free™ 2013: Totally-not-a-trojan Edition ;)

hahahahahaha

@LucasKauffman The best thing about McAfee is that its not Symantec.

@RoryAlsop Wow. Don't know where to start with that one.

@LucasKauffman I remember I had one of those when I was in EY, except it was Florida in Hurricane season.. that was ... fun :)

9:43 PM
@RоryMcCune I bet it went like this: "YEEEEY FLORIDA!!!! oh wait... shit"

@LucasKauffman well I was on holiday, but ken cunningly timed it so he asked me after giving me a nice raise.. the missus wasn't best pleased as she got back from australia same day I left, we crossed in the airport..

@RоryMcCune Oh I know that look, I had that one today as well
@RоryMcCune I didn't get a raise :(

@LucasKauffman laame

@RоryMcCune that was sneaky

@LucasKauffman Walter?
> WEEEE LOOOVE IT HEEEEEERRREEE!!!! Dumbasses.

9:46 PM
@RoryAlsop yeah I was impressed by the sneakiness, made it hard to say no.. Due dilligence job for a bank too <shudder>

@RоryMcCune totally
I'm supposed to get a nice one this year as well as a new car

9:59 PM
Had a wee play with that spritz thing. At 500wpm that is still slower than I read normally. And more annoying, as I am forced to read sequentially, which I don't like.
Pity it doesn't let you play with higher speeds

@LucasKauffman Oooh, a new car you say. So I'll have somebody to drive me from the airport when I come to Belgium. YES!

10:14 PM
@RoryAlsop of course not. You just hop around, in your little blue box, reading the end before the beginning, and the middle at the end.
Do you also rip out the last page of every book, since you don't like endings?

I read a few books at the same time so that when I finish any one I go straight onto another with no gap

you Mind the Gap, d'ya?

Need to have brain occupied at all times

lil bit of ADHD there, eh?

@Adnan ha sure no problem :)

10:21 PM

Hahahaha

10:42 PM
@RoryAlsop There you go

@Adnan crazy finns. Is that true?

@AviD Yup

that they're crazy, or that Juoksentelisinkohan means that?
I have to teach that to my 4 year old.

@AviD The second.

Though usually in her case the answer will most often be "yes".

10:49 PM
> Juoksentelisinkohan?

This confirms that Finnish is my all time favourite language
Is there a word for 'I wonder if I should run around aimlessly on fire?'

I think the fire is assumed.

For the interested:
juoksen = I run (I'm running)
juoksenteli = ran around
juoksentelisi = would run around
juoksentelisin = I would run around
juoksentelisinko = Would I run around
juoksentelisinkohan = I wonder if I would run around

11:18 PM
It would be useful for me as well
to read a bit more insight on this topic:

Q: Reading older mails signed with a certificate that has meanwhile expired

AnNaSFA few years ago I have used S/MIME certs to sign (and encrypt) my mails. The reason for which I stopped signing was the following: My (class 2) cert was issued on Jan. 1st 2008 (just a sample). It was valid for 1 year. Thus it expired on Jan 1st 2009. During Jan. 1st 2008 and Dec. 31st 2009 I s...

@Adnan That sounds a lot like the German way to build words:

@kiBytes Indeed. Both Finnish and German are synthetic languages.

@Adnan you're just making that up :-)
Heh - paint.net rocks
(latest version of the gimp b0rks on my machine)

11:33 PM
@RoryAlsop This proves that open source sucks.

@Adnan no - just that paint.net was handy and has a low learning curve for simple things like adding a transparent jpg over another one

@Adnan It proves that GIMP (And indeed GTK, GNOME, and everything else involved with that project) is run by people who have their heads buried so far in their own asses that they think the sky is brown.
but it doesn't say anything about open-source in general

Oh, come on, you guys. I was being sharkastic.
(I'm more than slightly drunk)

@Adnan but you gotta admit, at no point has GIMP not sucked.
and for no other reason than an obstinate and condescending development team

I really like GIMP for many things - the only reason I tried paint.net is that the latest update just has a problem with one or more of my drivers
But I prefer Photoshop
I just don't have a licence for it any mroe
(well, not on a machine that I can get to easily)

11:40 PM
@tylerl @RoryA To be honest, I rarely use GIMP. I much rather running Photoshop CS3 on WINE.
Ah.. so good.

@Adnan I might have to buy it again - my most recent software expenditure was on the latest and greatest Cubase though, so not as much spare cash as I would like in my software budget

@RoryAlsop Google-imaged 'Cubase'. Soooo many buttons

@Adnan until you get to full on professional studio level, it's far and away the best studio software out there
so we do all our recording on it, and use it onstage live

@RoryAlsop but but but... how do you press the buttons?
So many of them
Side note: This Laphroaig 18 is fantastic!

With Laphroaig, all buttons are easier to press (maybe all at once...who cares)
