4:52 AM
@Asmyldof git for windows seems to be kindof borked.
> fatal: '<path>/SecretSAML22.git' does not appear to be a git repository
Tried using a couple of GUI interfaces to Git but they both only seem to want to work with GitHub or other well-known servers.

morning

@jippie g'night

1 hour later…
6:14 AM
@ThePhoton I just use the normal Git for Windows, no complicated gui stuff. I'll try tonight to clone it elsewhere copying what I mailed you, maybe I made a typo
Or is that message before the e-mails you sent... hang on

6:56 AM
@ThePhoton When I copy-paste the clone command and replace your user with mine it works.
My bad. Group permits were a bit off.
Late Night Git'ing

2 hours later…
9:01 AM
my search foo isreallybad these days, I cant even find a simple plastic trim screwdriver on amazon, only expensive ceramic or sets of 10

1 hour later…
10:22 AM
@PlasmaHH The initial problem there is Amazon, I would suspect
set of 10, but very far from expensive

yeah,15 bucks orsoon amazon for exactly those

Bam!
Okay, so ditrelec sucks donkeyballs
11 eur shipping
bullshit

not as bad asdigikey ;)
but anyways,as I am fillig up my christmas wishlist on amazon, I kinda limited to amazon stuff

11:18 AM
@PlasmaHH I bet they don't have a cheap German Multimeter with USB connection for real-time-view
"1°C ~ 1000°C requires ± 2.0%"
So if your probe is ±3%, you can't measure a temperature above 1degree

I have somewhere a cheap chinese thermocouple thing that can measure between 0 and 255°C or 0 and 255°F ... funny thing

11:49 AM
lol
One has to doubt its accuracy >.<

I am sure it meets its spec of 5% ^^
+- 1 digits
or 2

probably +/- 3 digits at least with cheap 8bit AD

buffered by a 741

Which at room temperature is 15%
So....

lick your finger, hold it up in the air => greater accuracy

11:52 AM
pretty much
Though also more painful at 200deg C

probably smells more delicious though

12:04 PM
hmmm

12:22 PM
@PlasmaHH My 741 sensory was nudged. You knew I would show up at the mention of a 741.
good thing that they never built a 741 aircraft. (707, 727, 737, 747, 757, 767, and on and on).

@Marla egypt air flight 741 existed though...

and that flight number has been retired, as with the 741 opamp

if by retired you mean crashed... ;)

(well, should be retired)

3 hours later…
3:22 PM
@Asmyldof Allright, I'll give it another try tonight.

4:10 PM
good afternoon, all

4:49 PM
@ThePhoton I'm working late a bit, but I intend on continuing tonight by adding some actual functionality :-)
I may start with activity diagrams and flow charts
Which will be added in UMLet and PDF formats (UMLet is freeware if you're interested)

@Asmyldof Glad I saw your reference to UMLet. Just checked it out, looks nice

2 hours later…
7:03 PM
Luckily The last time I was forced to use uml is long ago

Today I am celebrating, The Germans have passed my firmware and hardware undergoing conformance testing.
@NickAlexeev I am interested in volunteering if you still have any need for help

@crasic Congratulations! (You'll get to see the sun again.)
@crasic What kind of volunteering do you have in mind? Do you mean volunteering at SV Code Camp?

@NickAlexeev Yeah for the code camp, Im happy with whatever even just hanging out and helping register. My background is EE and Embedded Firmware, but comfortable helping with any thing that isn't web front end.

7:18 PM
@crasic There's one volunteering slot left for Saturday registration. See here.
Myself, I've signed up for Sunday registration.

2 hours later…
9:31 PM
@Marla I really really love the thing. You should, for the fun of it, export it to EPS or PDF and look at the file size
Pretty much the TGif of UML. (TGif being a Linux tool - may now also exist for Windows? - for drawing EPS type vector images)
@NickAlexeev Is there also a slot left for Remote Dutch guy moaning at people?
#AskingForAFriend

9:51 PM
@Asmyldof Very good timing, since I have kind of un-retired, and was interested in exactly this thing (umlet). Doing a rescue of a $4M company where the 2 partners are having problems.

10:17 PM
Oooh. Sounds like... is it mean to say fun?

11:09 PM
@Asmyldof I hope it is going to be fun. Who wouldn't like to be invited in, to participate at the highest levels. An ongoing organization needing to get past that Bump that every small company encounters

11:19 PM
@Marla Makes me sort of wish more people listened more to me right now... I see a much smoother road than is being taken now, but the helmsman is gripping the wheel for dear life
@ThePhoton Going home now. May not be adding code today after all. But I'd like to claim the BusSlave module a while, to avoid having to discuss merging with you while one of us sleeps.

@Asmyldof Knowing that you are going home ; seeing the entirety of a business, both technical and business is what many of us find satisfying. I remember the beginnings of my career, and so wanting to know the WHOLE story
as a young whipper snapper at Motorola, I once spilled the beans on something I didn't know was to be held close. Fortunately it was with another division of Motorola, no major damage done.

@Marla Oh, I'm pretty much all business
I can't really go into details about these specifics, but there's certain amounts of time-lining that could have been improved for cheaper and sooner
But... helmsman
Not my company (because my company still comes damned close to first time right), so I am limited in what I can do

11:35 PM
"First time", , we all have to begin somewhere.

@Marla I mean first time right design

ah, missed that inuendo.

as in: Beta for trying thoughts and experimenting, followed by a 0D with few enough D's to be officially used, where production only improves, not fixes
It's starting to make me somewhat arrogant

@Asmyldof Arrogant is strong medicine. Perhaps powerful ?
ego not required

@Marla hmmm Maybe not arrogant, but at the least cocky

11:41 PM
cocky is better than arrogant. I don't apply the word "cocky" as widely with a brush as I do arrogant
arrogant doesn't seem fixable. cocky is perhaps temporary

"What do you need?" {answer}
"What is your lowest quote?" {100k}
"Over what time?" {6 months}
"I'll give you fully working at 1/3 cost, or in half the time, your choice"

sounds easy, doesn't it :) :)

It doesn't work nearly as often as it should
But every time I say that I fully mean it and am ready to sign
i.e. it'll take me 3 months of work or less and about 3k of materials if my estimation (based on the dev path above) is correct in such a situation, so either I plan it between other stuff and 10k /mnth is decent pay, or at the chance of having to rush order at 5*cost if something does go wrong, I can do it full time, not doing anything else "at a premium"
And I still feel a smart project owner in such a case starts writing the contract to get me to sign for the statement I just made
But only very few do

@Asmyldof : biggest problem with having "engineer" in charge of business. Is old adage : Engineer doesn't know when to quit engineering, and when to do business

It's not all engineers

11:49 PM
No recipe fits all
generalities

Anyway, I am going to sit on my bicycle a bit
bbl

ok, and I found your vids on youtube
you are handsome man

...
I am not aware of being in any videos

I don't know why I said that, just true
I think it was a twitter photo
but I did see your bicycle vids (which you have showed openly here )

Oh, yes, I added my photo to twitter, because there was this thing "twaten" a lady organised (twitter-dating) by setting up people, but as I have become accustom to, responses stopped coming. So might switch back to logo now
ok, srsly now
