11:00 PM
I think my head is trying to explode very slowly
Is stack being DDOS'ed or did someone trip over a cable in Amsterdam?

hey, if ohm's states that V = IR and the ideal conductor has 0 Ohm of resistance... then there can't be any voltage in an ideal conductor? wut?

Correct
Or, otherwise, an induced voltage will cause infinite current

Anonymous
also: I = V/R... I mean, infinite current makes sense (for example, a short) in this division by zero

Anonymous
but how come there's current but no potential difference

This is why super-conductors float above magnets
because there's no resistance
If you offer no resistance to something at all, it will happily flow infinitely and cause no side-effects
Luckily normal materials, such as copper, aluminium, steel, rubber, bathroom tiles, shoe-laces and human bone all have a defined resistance per unit length for a given cross-section, so in normal, every day life there's not much infinite current or zero voltage malarkey
Even if some of the things in my list have averages and standard deviations and others are relatively well defined, they all belong there

MSP430, to run out of space or not to, that's the question :D

11:25 PM
If you have a pipe that offers no resistance at all to the flow of water... let's call that a Hyper-Teflon-Tube... then if you push infinitely many liters per hour through that tube, still no pressure difference at all will be built up across the pipe, because it offers no resistance to the flow of water
@Mehrad not so much a question, as much as a design consequence, though

@Asmyldof :D I know ... I normally don't see anybody here in these hours (Aussie hours) so got excited and told you guys about what I'm struggling with atm :D
I was adding another 2 members to one of my arrays and all of a sudden the whole thing stopped working. So I guess i am running out of space somewhere...

@Mehrad just start indexing the RAM at the beginning again when you run out. No worries. Easy peasy.

Doing a bit of reading atm to familiarize myself with the MSP430 memory structure to see what's going on where really :)
@Asmyldof You mean like a high water mark sort of approach ? or ...

Shouldn't your compiler.... warn you? Or are you using standard Malloc on a proc without OS?
I mean like.... a ring buffer...

IAR is the beast I am wrestling with :D

11:30 PM
But without the buffer and/or ring
Ah. Haven't used that beast in 10 years knocks on wood

hahah... yeah... to be frank I have been ignoring the warning lately since I made so many chances and started implementing proto threads... poor guy might be warning somewhere and I haven't even realised...
but when I expand the array with 2 extra cells the compiler can't even get to Program start...
it loops in some 3 line of limbo somewhere...

shudders at the thought of threading and IAR -- *but that may be because he
he's stuck to GCC now
(un)fortunately I know not much (anymore) about MSP430 and/or its IAR modules

I have an RTOS which works perfectly fine. and to be honest this added Proto Thread is behaving quite well so far... so I might end up building on top of it.

shrug

@Asmyldof of course... these things evolve too fast. I tend to press the delete button on my brain after I am done with some chip :D

11:34 PM
Also, side note: brain melting, ouch, etc

Oh yeah... lots of spikes and fuming happening atm :)
but hey... challenge is a challenge

Hm, I know ARM, AVR, 8051, 68000 and i86. That's enough and they are consistent enough to keep mentioning them
especially the dead ones
No, I mean I have an oncomming migraine.

@Asmyldof that's quite an impressive collection to have a knowledge about anyways
@Asmyldof not good :/

Possibly brought on by the sunshine, possibly by repeatedly be stack-pissed-off today

hahah... yeah. sunshine and bright lights not gonna be your friends for a while

11:38 PM
Eh, to be honest, if I start with 68000 I'm going to claim I'm busy the first few weeks with another project and re-do some late experiments to get back into it. But I won't take months, so I keep claiming it as ready knowledge

get well soon mate. Nice to see you anyways. I spend most of my time on the 2nd monitor as I juggle between C# and electronics quite often (work, you know).
gotta keep it fresh :D

Good luck with your fiddly business. I might be going to bed now

yep the same. back to work

Europe and all that

see ya

11:39 PM
Have fun in the future!
