@AJHenderson youtube?

needless to say, I plan to give them some lessons on how to shoot video
it's unfortunately a private video
it's a small group leader training video for my church
but they sometimes discuss details of problems that people have had, so the videos are kept private
all in all, I started working on the 13 and a half minute video at 6:30 or so and finished at 8:30. I'm slipping
or perhaps it was just that the video was a total train wreck
though I'm pretty pleased with the end result considering the starting point
never mind that the video will only ever be seen by about 20 people
maybe 30 :/

it all makes sense

and the hats, gloves, scarves was from a collection for give aways
I had no input on the shooting though
they just sent me the files and were like, here you go

a true psycho could code something to recognise the strokes and stack up all photos available of the board, then run it through a dictionary

@AJHenderson how much time did it take you to edit the whole thing?

@PatoSáinz 2 hours

paid?

no, I do volunteer stuff for my church
they only do one of those videos a quarter or so

I hope they do listen when you give them the lesson.

they will
I'm basically one of the head technical people
it was the pastor and worship arts director doing the recording because they needed to do it during the work day
and the guy in the video is the site pastor for our Saratoga location
but none of them have any background in video
and the camera they were using is just a cheap little panasonic camcorder

Any modern videocam should do, but it's lights that you'll be preaching.
At least judging from that single screenshot..

exposure more like
the lighting should have been ok in there
the room is well lit

@AJH - Do you know if there ever will be 5D mk4? I have no real use for the info, only my curiousity. I figured you'd know if there is such rumor, or promise, that Canon is in the making of a mark IV.

5:01 AM
I'm sure there will be one eventually
but I've not heard any rumors of one
the 5D Mark iii isn't that old yet
only rumors I can find are not until September 2015 and those are rumors, not anything substantial

Okay, thanks m8

I just bought a Canon 24-105mm F4... If at some point I want to invest into a polarizer filter, what should I consider ? I've read that it's stupid to buy a cheap polarizer to put it on a good lens... So what should I buy ? Are they automatically uber expensive ? Is there a good option for my lens (diam. 77) ?

2:12 PM
@AndyM If you were in the states, I would have mailed you mine... I have a 77mm B+W I don't have a need for anymore.

Do you think It would cost a lot to send it to Switzerland ? (I would pay you the travel and a price we would discuss for the polarizer ?)
Edit : I would pay the cost of sending the polarizer, not the travel to bring it to me :)

@AndyM Darn!

@AndyML :D
How much did it cost you ?

I've never done a funds transfer from outside of the country. Not sure how that works.
@AndyM $70 and some change IIRC
Looking through my Amazon orders (it's at home). Just remembered I have a 77mm 8x ND filter, too. Completely forgot about that one.
@AndyM what city?
or postal code
@AndyM ~$25 USD to ship

2:40 PM
Yeah, 25$ + something for the polarizer... I better buy a new one... I thought i had to spend like 250$ for a correct polarizer...
I'm worried of damaging my worthy lenses (macro 100 mm 2.8 and 24-105 f4)... I should look after a UV filter as well...

@AndyML go to paypal and watch it magically take care of it
that's how

@AJHenderson lol, true

@AndyM the utility of UV lenses is notoriously debated

FYI - if you want to pay shipping, I wouldn't ask for anything for the actual polarizer.

@AJHenderson I know I know, but I'm looking for a protection... I'm quite freaking out everything particle of dust are flying around my lenses :)

2:47 PM
@AJHenderson I agree. I now only have filters on my weather sealed lenses.

@AndyML My 24-105 is weather sealed... My macro lens is not ...

@AndyM some theorize that the UV filter is more likely to harm than save your lens, though personally, I still use them generally, though I swap it if I put on the polarizer
and I also remove them if I'm shooting in conditions where ghosting is a concern

@AJHenderson This happened to me in Vegas. Didn't realize what the problem was until I got home.

but I mostly use them because I had them
and yeah, quality of the polarizers and size changes the price alot
getting a 77 and an 82mm polarizer cost me a total of $350
$150 for the 78, $200 for the 82
and I'm sorry, it was only $334 for the two
it was $116 and $194 when I got them
apparently the 77 went up and the 82 went down

Thank you for the links !
I'll give it a try to the B+W 77 mm eventually

2:58 PM
I've been very pleased with both of them
I still find it funny that my 70-200 is the 77mm and my 24-70 is the 82mm
even though both are f/2.8s

Q: Homogeneity of a filter, when does it matter?

Esa PaulastoI read a review of circular polarizing filters in www.lenstip.com and one of the tests is to judge the homogeneity of the filters. Quote from the test explanation page: Homogeneity is a qualitative parameter consisting of the bubble content in the glass and streakiness of the glass. While yo...

There's a link to a filter test in the question body.

So out of all the hosting options, SmugMug Power is the cheapest route that will let me use custom domain. Sounds like I will be using that for my photography and hosting from my home for the rest.
