1:30 AM
@Shalvenay Ready whenever you are.

alright, lets do this then

((Thanks, be just a sec :) ))
Noyze frowned at the lines. This was an abomination against nature. He sent his owl flying into the sky, looking for any further information while he continues heading towards the south

He steps across the ribbons, his owl flying off to the east

2:31 AM
((Sorry about taking so long... Work sucks sometimes.))
He looks around, and then decides to follow his owl, trusting the animals instincts.

((does he make it completely across before this?))

((Umm... Lets see. He has an abhorance to the tracks, but his owl is going east. If he can get across the tracks in say, 15 yards, then he goes across before following the owl. If it's any longer, he jumps back to follow the owl - Assuming the tracks are running west-east))

2:59 AM
*He goes across the tracks and follows along on the south side of them

Nyoze follows along the south side of the tracks, keeping an eye on his owl flying ahead, and looking for anything which could explain what was happening

3:14 AM
He comes to a place where more of the ribbons diverge to the south at an angle

(( I'm so confused on what to do lol))
Nyoze keeps following the owl, crossing the diverged ribbons and running quickly

3:34 AM
Ribbons keep diverging off to the south as the line of the first few ribbons curves to the north after a little while...

((Which way is the olw going, still east? And is there anything else remarkable about the landscpae?))

(owl is still going east)
The ends of looming shapes, similar to the ones seen earlier, poke out from the fog

Nyoze leaves the tracks, and keeps following his owl, keeping an ear out for any noises, and looking for anything else that stands out in the dense fog

*The area just fills with more and more tracks

Nyoze is begging to get more and more frustrated again. He leaps into the air, changing his shape into that of an owl to match his companion,a nd flys high above the ribbons, until the fog is obscuring the ground, and he can't see anything. Taking a deep breath, he focuses his energy, and then attempts to launch a fireball at the ground, to burn away the mist.

3:49 AM
THe dawn is finally beginning to rise as the fireball peters out, boiling off much of the mist as it does so. In his newfound owl form, he can see a maze of ribbons before him, many of them running parallel to each other, long chains of rectangular shapes occupying some of them. Structures dot the area, peppered among the ribbons with no apparent rhyme or reason
((lets wrap here, if you don't mind :))
((do you want to continue for next time, or finish this RP up altogether?))

((I'm happy to finish up all together if you want? They longer this goes, the more and more confused Noyze is getting... Which is awesome from an RP point of view, but I feel like he's running in circles lol))

((lets wrap this up altogether here))
so...what did you think overall? I thought it was rather interesting myself, although some branches of the RP that I contemplated never came into play

I definitely think as an exercise in character development, it was interesting to test the limits of how far a character would travel when faced with a landscape that isn't changing much, and no real sense of direction.

yeah, it's a very different environment than what most RP chars are used to, I think
not a particuarly dynamic-seeming landscape at first, but that can change quickly and in quite hazardous ways, yet there's nobody intending to do anything to you, which makes blasting pointless -- the lack of sense of direction also is very much a function of that sort of environment

Completely, 100%. I don't think I've ever had an RP experience so completely and truly alone. Without any people to interact with, the moving from place to place just becomes very confusing and frustrating for the character, and he gets more and more frustrated.

4:03 AM
yeah, he would have had a chance at human interaction had he either hung around the place where he turned the wheel or the shack he fireballed more, although it wouldn't have been particuarly pretty
do you have any comments, questions, suggestions regarding how I DMed that?

The only thing I could suggest is that there was a lot of Nyoze moves in this direction then Nyoze continues to move in this direction. While the loss of direction was part of the setting, a few clues to help explore further or even guide the character towards braches that you had contemplated could help for further exploration.
There were times where I would change direction, just for something different.

yeah, I wonder if I could have mutated the radio call into something better for that

@Shalvenay The thing with the radio call is that as you said, Noyze couldn't hear anything at all, so it felt like there was no point.
Maybe what I would suggest in describing things poking out of the fog, maybe some noises guiding him in a particular direction, maybe footprints on the ground, or some details on the map that make sense now that he's explored a bit.

yeah, that would help

4:19 AM
Anyway, I'm off for a bit, see you around :)
