I mean you could do something like history | grep -m1 372 > /dev/clip but it's not guaranteeing that the 372nd command is the first one that has 372 in it
something in xargs or whatever to determine this is beyond my meager *nix skills
You're likely hung in an SSL negotation. Add set ftp:ssl-allow off to either your individual command or your ~/.lftprc file. E.g.
lftp -e "set ftp:ssl-allow off; mirror -R /root/temp/mail /mail1" -u user,pass dest_ip
If you set it in your config, just know that you're keeping yourself from usin...
How about, put this on your command line:
$ !372
Then press ESC followed by CTRL+E. This will autoexpand on the command line without actually running it. (also expands everything else on the line, including env vars)
This only works on Bash, as far as I'm aware.
@JeffFerland That's a good question. I've just left one myself. I was at that two pint point where I either go home now, or I go home in 4 hours time and lose most of Saturday.
Well, ya know, if you enter into it expecting it to suck, it will suck
I actually bought it because I saw a hot chick on the train reading it back in october, so I was like, hmm, that sounds like an interesting title AND if she sees me reading it, maybe we'd get in a convo about it.
honestly, these days I'd take the fucking punchcard
I went to Wawa this morning at 5am to buy tickets because I knew it'd be empty
fucking machine was apparently offline the night before so it decided it had to batch-and-forward 46 transactions from the night before AFTER IT TOOK MY MONEY
had to stand there 10 mins waiting before my ticket finally popped out
@YanickGirouard I just wanted to pop in and say thanks for being patient with me in my thread about domain authentication over wireless. Gotta go for now. Have a good weekend!
Also...
@PeterGrace Why does it look like his hand is stuck in the CD-ROM bay?
@MikeyB aha thats nice , Anyway actually i want to develop a portal or website, that will gonna let people to upload pictures, and add information about something particular and other people can view it, after paying a price, So I have been told that shared hosting isn't the best option here and I should be getting own servers. and because I am a noob I need information about what type of servers would i require :)
I any case, we can't tell you what you need. You need to figure it out. Server sizing is extremely localized, and the only way you are going to figure it out is either to guess or test.
or possibly guess, test, and repeat until you know what you need.
@TimeToThine Or you could hire one of the many IT consultants who hang in the chat room... like... oh... me! We can make wild guesses with the best of them! =)
@TimeToThine Quick-n-Dirty: Figure out the average Kb load of each page. Figure out the execution load of rendering each page. Estimate a reasonable amount of traffic to start with. Then you know what you need. You'll be fine with a VPS to start with, most likely. Scale your application by tiering it first, then beef up the hardware.
Unless it's porn or warez, you probably won't be dealing with hundreds of thousands of requests a day.
Even then, farming out the pictures to a CDN, putting a reverse caching proxy in front and also caching the CMS content itself can go a very long ways.
@RebeccaChernoff got the tshirt and stickers btw. Great shirt, just wish it had the serverfault name/logo on it. Would be cool to wear it at tech ed :)
@TimeToThine Okay, so just a different forum software? But people upload pictures? And add other content? And have to pay? You are sooo making a porn site and not telling.
With a out of the box CMS, there's usually decent support for plugins that will turn dynamic content into static content as applicable. You'll have to roll your own for that now.
@TimeToThine Did you just say that you are a SharePoint consultant and you're thinking about using Rails?
@TimeToThine SharePoint is to Rails as "LOL" at the end of a sentence is to ";" at the end of a statement in code. They are for different kinds of people.
@MilesErickson but is the opposite also true? Have you never met a Sharepoint person who wants to get the hell out of that mess and use something better?
@MilesErickson I work as a sharepoint consultant for a Private firm but I want to start my own business, so as noob to web application development am investigating from scratch for things i need to start my analysis on the IDEA i got :)
